I'm looking for a method to backup my scheduled recording/settings for media center before performing a clean install of windows 7.
I don't mind manually copying the files and replacing them, but I don't know their locations.
I used ATI Catalyst Media Center in 2007 & could record scheduled TV programs. I recently tried it again with Windows 7. I am now able to record live TV programs & burn playable DVDs but I can't record scheduled TV programs. I do get an icon saying that the color scheme has reverted to Windows Basic but it looks the same to me.

When I record a TV program I get large blocking in the picture and it is difficult to watch. I have a clear picture when normally viewing TV and when viewing TV programs from web sites.

When I select a show for recording, it seems to accept it and shows the red dot in the guide, but when the show time begins - it doesn't record. Record worked before the recording drive failed and had to be replaced.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using a Peak dual DVB-T tuner card with Windows Media Center 64bit. I receive my digital TV signal from an attic aerial. My problem is that I get corruption on video and audio while recording with WMC. The video corruption is hard to describe but looks like vertical streaks down the TV screen making programs impossible to watch. The corruption does not happen all the time, but usually starts after 30-40 minutes into a show. I have checked aerial connections etc and have recently reloaded windows 7, but with no improvement. I have no problems whatsoever while veiwing normal TV or internet TV etc on just the TV itself. I haven't filled in system specs in my profile as I have 3 different PC setups and wanted to try get some help asap, (this is my first post). The problem occurs on a HTPC with an Asus HD55M-pro motherboard, an Intel I3-530 processor, 4Gb ram and a Samsung F3 1TB with a partition for system and the rest of drive for storage. This is using Intel intregrated HD graphics on the CPU cabled to a Sony LCD TV via HDMI lead.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn the backup and restore management screen, it says �backup cancelled�. I had setup on a regular weekly schedule. Go to manage backups, I see backups through out 2011. The last one 12/2011. The last backup field says �Never��yet backups exist. Short of it, I cannot find the reason backups would not run. Windows has an extremely poor ability to view just what is going on with backups. Assuming it might be a space issue. I deleted all but a few of the last backups in manage backups, and reset the schedule so backups would run overnight. This morning, same results, backup cancelled. So�I clicked on �Backup now��and it runs to completion successfully. The last back field was updated with today�s date/time.

This worked at one time, before I upgraded to Professional and added service pack 1 (or at least I set up the backup one time). I tried to change the time to run the automatic backup in "Control Panel - System and Security - Backup and Restore". The link inside the window named "change settings" didn't do anything. So I turned off the schedule thinking that might let me change the settings. Now neither the "change settings" nor the "turn on schedule" links do anything. Now I have to do the backups manually. I am a firm believer in backing things up to a network drive every night.I run 4 different automatic malware / spyware scans every night and I am usually clean except for a couple of tracking cookies.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium x32. When I tried to set up Backup and Restore, I got the message "System image cannot be saved on this location." More Info gave me "Scheduled backup of system image is not allowed on removable devices." This seems to be a very strange message since external drives appear to be the most popular backup devices. Backup and Restore setup lists both the C: and the FToshiba external) drives but if I try to create a System Image, it does not list the Toshiba as one of the choices.
I have a Toshiba 500GB usb drive that I was working fine with Vista and Macrium Reflect. I now want to switch to MS Backup and Restore.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI understand without being in some sort of perfectly quiet environment/home studio, nothing can be perfect.That aside, I recently purchased a new USB condenser mic (cardoid) and it can pick up all sort of sounds from my keyboard typing, mouse clicks, and my PC fans. My PC is positioned about as far as it will go without pulling the plugs out. It might also be worth noting there are no speakers on my PC. I've also read there is supposed to be a Microphone Boost in my recording settings as well as a Microphone Enhancements tab? There never has been, on any mic I've used on my PC. And it's been suggested that this might be a possible fix, but I'm sort of doubtful on that.I've been thinking of investing in more audio equipment (shock mount, scissor arm, pop filter?) or perhaps returning it for a different mic altogether.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm in grave problem here. I just installed windows 7 x64 a few days back. And initially I installed the 32bit version of k-lite codec pack for my windows media player. The media center worked fine then. It was loading my ffdshow and ac3filter along as I checked it.But then yesterday I noticed that the same pop-up od recommended/express install of WMP came again. Initially I thought that it must be some bug or something, but then when my MKV and AVI files didn't work in WMC, I realized that somehow WMP x64 got triggered, and now it is using the x64 bit of WMP in WMC. And I just wanna revert back to 32-bit WMP in WMC.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have checked two seperate DVD movies and they stop after the splash screens, FBI warning and Corporate logos, and never make it to the DVD menu.
This DVD player is an external player and I have no problem with playback on my Dual boot with Vista Home Premium.
Any suggestions?
I can't get eithe WMP or MC to play a DVD. I've set the region code. WMP acts like it will play, but then just goes blank, and MC says it cannot play the DVD. These are original discs, not burned copies. I have a custom built system, with 2 graphics cards (GTX 260 and a GT 220) 6 GB of RAM, and an i7 processor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

But my Norton 360 isn't off, just the ACTION CENTER on the Control Center SECURITY SETTINGS shows OFF.I have to turn my 360 off and on to reset it.Never happened before.

1) I can watch TV via TV card, but can I watch TV from another source such as HDMI or AV from my satalite reciever or PS3?
2) Can WMC work with a dual monitor graphics card? I would like to transmit the media center screen via AV to monitors & speakers, while being able to use the PC for other use via VGA connection.
I used to run media centre wired and it worked fine. Trying to clean up cables running all over the place Ive tried wirelessly yet its almost to the point that it doesnt work at all as its incredibly slow and takes about a minute to react to controller input.Im running a TP-LINKTD-W8930N 300Mbps router.

in Win 7 Ultimate I insert a DVD, and the only options for playback are Windows Media Player and Real Player - with Vista, I used to have an option to play the DVD in Windows Media Center, which is what I want. Is there a way to get this option back?

I am finding that the choice I make for how to receive automatic updates will get changed to Never Update. I am new to Windows 7 as my old computer had XP, so this Action Center is new to me, and it is getting annoying having to constantly change the settings for my windows updates.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHave a Dell Vostro 3500 running Win 7 32 bit. When trying to view a pdf from within IE, it will attempt to open it with Windows Media Center. Adobe Reader has been installed, and when checking file assocaitions in Windows and IE, they are set to Adobe Reader. Now, if you save the pdf to the desktop, or some other location on the hard drive, it will then open with Adobe Reader as it should.
