I've got a corrupt file on my TomTom ONE Third Edition. TomTom support has been unhelpful, and Google has let me down for the last 2 hours. I've tried programs like ChkDsk, Move On Boot, Unlocker, and FileASSASSIN.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, and the file that needs to be deleted is ttsystem.

I'm running Windows 7 64x Home Premium on a Toshiba Qosmio X505 laptop. I just got it back from the warranty repair center, where they replaced the hard drive and graphics fan & heatsink, and reloaded the factory windows version. Before I sent it out for repair, I used Windows Backup to create a backup of all my files on a Toshiba casio 500GB external USB drive (I had over 300 GB of files, so it was easier to use Windows Backup than drag and drop all the files, at least at the time). Now that I have the laptop back, I'm having trouble restoring my files. When I go to Control Panel-> Backup & Restore, a message appears in the restore section, saying "Windows could not find a backup for this computer." I've tried reconnecting the drive as well as restarting my computer, but to no avail. I can see and explore the files in My Computer, so I know the hard drive is properly connected.

the Disk Management program can't manage (extend/shrink/etc.) FAT32 partitions.I don't wish to format NTFS and extend/shrink/etc. an NTFS partition, I want to maintain and alter a partition in FAT32, because my older computer can't read NTFS partitions, and I want it to recognize a partition on this external drive.is there a third party program that works on Win 7 which can give me this ability?alternatively, can the "exFAT" system offered in Disk Management be read by WinME, or is it quite different to FAT32?

I just ordered an external enclosure for my 3.5 80GB HDD, which is a FAT32 drive with all my old MP3's on it.What I was wondering is , of course, will it run, by USB, in my Windows 7 64bit environment......or can I at least pull the files off of the FAT32 HDD and somehow put them on my Windows 7 64bit system?

I have a second hard drive that is formatted FAT32 and I need to reformat it to NTFS so I can install Windows XP as a dual boot option. It shows 146GB of 148GB free space; however, when I open the drive it says "This folder is empty". I once had Ubuntu installed and reformatted the drive, but it may be hidden somewhere on the drive. I have tried to reformat by right clicking the drive letter and using the format command, but I get an error message "Windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utilities or other programs that are using this drive, and make sure no window is displaying the contents of the drive. Then try formatting again.". When I check the drive for contents using CMD it says "Volume in drive is New Volume Directory of D: File Not Found". When I try to format D: from the C: prompt, it says "Access Denied as you do not have sufficient privileges. You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode." I am logged on as Administrator

I'm planning on placing my C:Users folder on a separate partition of my HDD. I know the general scheme of things would be to create the separate parition, we'll call it D:. and then robocopy everything from C:Users to D: and delete the contents of C:Users before mounting D:Users.
Does anyone have any clue what to do if I want D: to be a FAT32 partition? Will I run into trouble because of permissions from the NTFS partition that Users originally resided on?

I have two HDD's installed on my PC. The 1st one is 500GB and has three partitions, in one of which Windows 7 is installed. The 2nd one is 160GB and has only one partition. I plan to use this one as a backup drive.
When I go to setup the Windows Backup wizard, in the list of partitions where I can choose to create the backup, it does not show me the 2nd drive partion. It only shows two partitions from the 1st drive.
How do I make the wizard display the 2nd drive as well?

I have a couple of flash drives I have formatted to NTFS. One for an install drive and one for a readyboost test. If I formatted the drive in CMD do I have to format it the other way (to FAT32) in CMD or can I just right click the flash drive and format it there?

I have my C drive, another internal drive and 2 exterior drives. I have used Cobian backup for several years to backup documents daily. Just started using Win 7 recently and decided to use its backup for system files in case my C drive fails. My second external is new and it is 500gig. After the backup it only has 154gig remaining. Is there any way to stop it from backing up the other 2 drives? This is probably very simple, but i did google it and didn't find anything.

I've been reading about win7 backup. It says that it wont back up program files, recycle bin and other things. I cant tell if these exclusions are only if windows chooses or also apply to when I choose. My question is: can I get win7 backup to backup everything on my C drive, and if so how do I proceed.

Got a new PC (Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) with a 1TB drive. I added an extra internal drive which happens to be one of my old 300GB XP drives (231GB free). There are some apps on the old drive (Photoshop 6.0) which still run & I'd like to use them. Can I run Windows Backup and create an image on the old drive even though there are 70GB's of apps & files on there already?? Does the backup wizard partition or format the selected drive in the process of backing up? Obviously I'd like to keep accessing that stuff if I can.

A friend just got a new laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. He had an old desktop computer with an external drive for backups. He is thinking of getting a new router with a USB port so that he can connect the external drive to the router and then setup automated backups to that drive from the new laptop. Will the built-in backup program in Windows 7 HP work with a network drive?

Yesterday and today I'm constantly getting warnings from windows, that it detected a problem and suggested to backup my hard drive. I currently have 2 drives. the c:/ is where windows resides (60gb ssd drive). The second one is an older (3 years old) from my old computer where my programs reside. It is this latter one D:/ (500gb seagate barracuda) where windows is telling me to backup.
I just installed another WD 500GB black (also about 3 years old) so I could backup the D: drive. The computer is running fine. Is windows accurate in being able to find hard disk problems before they become an issue? I'm afraid that if I take out the drive and send it back to seagate they might not find anything wrong with it. Is there a way to test and fix it with software?

I want to either move or restart Windows Backup to a new drive. So I'd like to wipe the current Backup off the drive it is currently on. I really don't care that much about saving older recovery points. Is there a way to just switch where the recovery is saved and once a new restore point has been created on the new drive I could just delete the old files on the other drive?

Windows backup is set up to not allow backups onto the C drive (or whatever drive windows is installed on), which generally makes sense. But I have a C drive with a lot of empty space, and an external hard drive that I need to back up. So... is there any way to get around the default behavior so I can back up FROM the external drive TO the C drive?

I have a networked shared USB connected HD on PC 1 that works fine on PC 1. However when I tried to setup MS Backup for the first time on PC 2, it does not list the external HD called Drive "L". When I open COMPUTER on PC 2, the external drive is shown. Drive "L" is also set for ALL USERS, and shared label is indicated on PC 1. So the million dollar question is, why doesn't it show on the list of available drives to select for backup on PC 2? Also, there isn't any way in the backup setup screen to browse or search for any drives.

I was wondering if this would work as a poor man's backup system for Windows 7.
1) Take my daughter's laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate on it and partition the only hard disk to have a C: drive (125 Gigs) and E: drive (75 gigs).
2) Setup Windows 7 backup to backup data and disk image of the C: drive TO the E: drive.
Works OK on backup if the hard drive fails, you loose everything C: and E: but if you want a quick fix for virus attacks on the C: drive, or a quick way to restore files to the C: drive.the 64 dollar question... I haven't tested this part yet but can you RESTORE the E: drive image of the C: drive using the SYSTEM REPAIR DISK ?? Would the restoration reformat the entire hard drive, and in effect crash the restore before it starts? Or would it just reformat the C: drive partition??
