Babylon Search Virus Making Computer So Slow?

Apr 7, 2012

I downloaded a program to help me edit some DVD menu's and this Babylon Search function was downloaded with it. It created add-on's and made my computer do things that were not desirable. I uninstalled it but found it to be still lingering on my computer in the add-on sections of browsers. Ever since I downloaded the program and got the "Babylon Search" with it I have found that my computer is running really slow. It also shows up in Internet Explorer when I click to open a new tab. It comes up right away and seems to be mimicking the Google Search layout only it says Babylon in the top right of the screen...

Removing Search.conduit.com Virus/malware?

Jul 21, 2012

I've tried everything to get rid of this malware/virus. I've tried over 5+ programs (malwarebytes, spybot S&D, etc...) and they can't seem to find anything. However every time I try to start up chrome or firefox, it keeps sending me back to [URL]Also, I've noticed that whenever one of these pages load, my computer tends to slow down, sometimes not letting me open up task manager or even shutting down my computer.I've also tried the instructions online of removing it from my extensions/addons on firefox and chrome, but it always seems to come back once I restart my computer. What do I do?

Outlook 2007 Task Search Versus Windows7 Computer Wide Search

Nov 10, 2009

Outlook 2007 Task search versus Windows7 computer wide search.

I enter the same keyword (one of the words contained within the title of a completed task) in the Outlook Task search box as I do the Windows 7 orb 'search programs and files.' The Windows 7 search returns the correct search result (along with a lot other results having the same keyword) practically immediately whereas Outlook is still searching...and searching.

If I have index options set to include the C: drive and Outlook, what's going on with Outlook?

Explorer Is Frozen Or Very Slow, Virus Scans Show Nothing

May 14, 2012

Opening any program is either extremely slow or will crash the computer, but if it works then it works fine any other time you open it. Until the PC goes into sleep mode or is rebooted the problem is non-existent. no error messages are displayed and apparently, its not shown on the task manager's PC usage... also virus and spyware scans have shown nothing. This will stop after about 10 minutes of idol usage

IE Uninstall After Takeover By Babylon?

Nov 10, 2012

I tried a recommended programme called VIPsportsbox and after downloading and installing it all sorts of things went wrong. I uninstalled it but then found several changes had been made which I am unable to change back. My browsers all defaulted to Babylon search. I cured Firefox by uninstalling and reinistalling it, Crome the same, but I can not find a way to uninstall IE to enable me to reinstall it.Other programmes have appeared as well, which may not have anything to do with this but coincidently seem to be affecting my computer: Yonto,Catalyst Control Centre and of course Babylon.

How To Fix Slow Startup According To Network Search

Oct 4, 2011

After starting Windows 7, the system is setting up the network connection (blue circle on network sign). I bought my Dell computer 2 weeks ago. It was very fast until this weekend. Starting up takes 10-15 minutes. When the network is found everything works fine again.During the network searching it is possible to access internet by Chrome. IE and Firefox are not working.

- I tried to fix this by enabling all the non-windows related services, but no changes.

- I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver of my network card, with no success.

Start Menu Search Is Really Slow?

Jan 30, 2010

I've been using Win 7 x64 for about a month and a half, and up until about a week ago, it was fine. But suddenly, when I open the start menu and start typing the name of a program, it takes a really long time to search for the results. They used to start showing up as I was typing. Now for example, if i type in 'calculator' it takes about 20-30 seconds before anything appears. When I watch task manager as i type, the cpu usage goes up to 50%, one entire core! I fiddeled with the indexing so it was only indexing the Start Menu directory and the Users directory, as well as rebuilding the index a few times. This happened suddenly as well: there was no slow degredationnote: other than this, performance of windows and other apps is excellent. Also: I've definitely installed a lot of software in the last few weeks, but no new hardware.

Why Computer's Fan Making Large Noise At Startup Time

Oct 8, 2011

A week ago everything was running fine 3,4 days ago i notice that it is making much more noise than it should. It seems that it is CPU's fan's noise. Most probably dust is responsible for this.there is a lot of dust inside my CPU. This may hamper hardware badly(as i have seen in some websites). What should i do? can i solve this by my self or i need to go to computer repair shop.one argument that this sound is not of fan is that, If it is sound of fan then it should start blowing very fast with noise after opening computer for long time since it blows when processor warms. But one can say that fan is not in well working state so that's why it is making this much sound, After all these are my arguments.

MSE Virus Keeps Rebooting Computer

Aug 15, 2012

I recently downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials and now I think I have some sort of virus. Within minutes of logging onto my computer, a message keeps popping up that there is a critical error and that the computer will restart within one minute. I have tried to do anything I possibly can to get rid of this issue! It does the same thing while booting up in safemode as well. I also tried to restore my computer to a previous date before this occurred, and it still keeps happening. I figured i'd try to restore it to factory settings also, but it does not give me the option while booting up (f11), or on my control panel. I also tried using the TDSSkiller but my computer reboots before the scanning/fixing finishes.

How To Search Entire Computer

Oct 17, 2012

I had a explorer window open, not sure which location but I closed in in a hurry and right before I noticed a folder I have been looking for. When I use the search function, it does not pull everything. I have readjusted the settings in there as advised before, but it still doesn't search everywhere. For example, I have things on my desktop, and if I type in the name, it doesn't appear.

So, how do I do a complete file name search for everything on my computer?

Search Won't Work In Computer (Within Window)

Feb 8, 2010

My problem is when I go into computer (my computer) the search in the top right isn't working from within this window! However if I click to go into an individual drive the search will then work from within there on the individual drive. At first it told me the index had been switched off, so I turned it back on even rebuilt the index. & its still the same except it doesn't tell me about the index when I try to search anymore.

It will still search within the individual drives but not from within the computer window. Apart from this the installation works fine. I even run a scan with Kaspersky & Spybot S&D to make sure of any nasties causing it. & run a CHkdisk this morning. I would rather not have to perform a system restore or new installation. It took me ages to install all my apps & don't fancy doing it again.

Computer Runs Very Slow / Computer Freezes Randomly

Mar 25, 2012

Computer runs very slow. Computer freezes randomly. Does not want to boot past windows startup except for in safe mode(SOMETIMES). IF IT BOOTS takes and an incredibly long time to get to the desktop (20-45min). Does not want to run programs. Runs EXTREMELY slowly (makes a windows 95 pc look like a speed demon.) Random restarts, restart loops, and shutdowns. Sometimes after turning on it will immediately shut off then turn back on. Keeps recommending windows repair on startup. Wants to run chkdsk, then freezes on it.Malware detection programs. Hardware diagnostic programs. registry tools. disk defrags. Driver updates. Windows updates. BIOS update. System restore. Windows repair tool. Repair installation (twice). WINDOWS 7 CLEAN INSTALLATION (twice).Exactly the same as the first day it started happening. So not only did I lose all programs and files, but my pc still runs like crap. Also, this is a higher end pc under a year old. [code]
