View 14 Replies View RelatedI am trying to dual boot windows 7 and XP but I keep running into the same problem. Windows 7 was installed first and I am now trying to install XP. I partitioned my hard drive and then I inserted the Windows XP installation disk and the "Install Windows XP" option is greyed out. I rebooted my computer and booted from the disk and got the following error message:"A problem has been detected with windows and has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.Technical Imformation:*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0XF78D2524,0x0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)"
View 2 Replies View RelatedI keep getting a message on a bluescreen, often when the cpu comes out of sleep mode, that it is shutting down to avoid damage or something. I also often have trouble getting ctrl alt del to work. Recently, we removed several viruses, and hijackers from the computer, that made it so I couldn't even google search, and its only been doing it since then. As I write, malwarebytes said it was removing threats. I have scoured everywhere I could think of and removed almost all unnecessary programs, files and downloads. Could there stll be a virus? Could a previous virus have corrupted the comp irreversibly?

I installed all the drivers required from this link: url...But whenever i play any media (viz., audio/video), only front-right speaker sound playing can be heard. The front-left speaker does not work. Its a brand new laptop. I tried re-installing all the drivers (which i thought may not have been installed properly).

View 9 Replies View RelatedAlright, so I am working remotely on a computer trying to remove the System Scan virus. Now I have followed all steps, and removed countless viruses from safe mode using both super-antispyware and malwarebytes. I followed all instructions given in the removal guide on this site, including using rKill and the tdsskiller. I seem to remove the virus sucessfully, but as soon as I restart in normal mode from my users account, the virus is right back. Is there a known variation of this virus that reinstalls itself? Are there any other recommendations
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy daughter has a Gateway laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. We have 4gig RAM installed. The other day she tried to create a folder on the desktop. However, she was not able to do that and was also not able to click on any icon on the desktop at all.She restarted the computer and it seemed to fix itself. However, the next day it happened again.Does this sound like a corrupt system file or a virus? We have PC Tools Internet Security on her laptop and it says there are no viruses. Also, not sure if this is related, but the computer takes over 15 minutes to shut down. Actually, I don't know exactly how long it takes because after 15 minutes she gets frustrated and just holds down the power button to force it to shut down. There are no updates available - we have checked and it says there are none.

when my laptop was new i never saw these folders named $RECYCLE.BIN and SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION and now i think my laptop is infected with a virus because i got these files through a pen drive, that means its a virus or a malware b'coz it spreads and many people have got this because of my laptop. but none of the antivirus i used such as avira, Avg, Mcafee and eset online scan have detected it till now. I don't know what to do.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have had the generic.win virus on my computer for a while now due to my anti virus program not being able to remove it. It has been causing internet browsing issues specifically with google and other search engines. However I believe that the virus has corrupted my "Windows repair tool" that is required to reformat my system. I start my computer and hold F8 to bring up the menu and select the repair computer option and it brings me to the menu where I can either "start windows normally" or run system repair tool.
When I try to run the system repair tool I know it is supposed to bring me to a menu to select language and what not and ultimately restore my computer. Unfortunately it just returns to the normal boot up and repair option over and over upon selecting the option. I just want a virus free computer. My system is a dell inspirion running 64 bit windows 7. I have backed up all the files.
Right about the time we got the virus out I started to get regular system freezes and BSODs at random times throughout the day. I'm not sure if it's something we did, if the virus messed something up, or if it's some unrelated issue. It's not the memory since I tested it last night and there weren't any errors. It can happen at any time. I haven't been playing any games and the only game I ever do play on this laptop is minecraft. I do play some Hulu and Netflix videos, but these crashes and lockups don't only occur when I'm watching a video. I can simply be browsing the web or working on my webpage and I will get the BSOD or the system will freeze.[CODE]
View 12 Replies View RelatedI had the win 7 antivirus, virus on my laptop, i used this site for instructions on removing this virus, I followed the instructions and it seems to have removed the virus. Now when I start the laptop the programs pinned to my startup menu do not start and if I want to start a program I have to start by right clicking and starting as system admin. Not sure what to do now to fix this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a new laptop recently, and probably about 4 days later, it got the System Check virus. A friend helped me get rid of the virus(I think), but a lot of my stuff still seems to be hidden. Unhide.exe got back my desktop icons, and some of my Start Menu, but I'm still missing almost all of the right side of said start menu. The Control Panel, Help and Support, Search, etc etc.I have Windows 7.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials and now I think I have some sort of virus. Within minutes of logging onto my computer, a message keeps popping up that there is a critical error and that the computer will restart within one minute. I have tried to do anything I possibly can to get rid of this issue! It does the same thing while booting up in safemode as well. I also tried to restore my computer to a previous date before this occurred, and it still keeps happening. I figured i'd try to restore it to factory settings also, but it does not give me the option while booting up (f11), or on my control panel. I also tried using the TDSSkiller but my computer reboots before the scanning/fixing finishes.

It created add-on's and made my computer do things that were not desirable. I uninstalled it but found it to be still lingering on my computer in the add-on sections of browsers. Ever since I downloaded the program and got the "Babylon Search" with it I have found that my computer is running really slow. It also shows up in Internet Explorer when I click to open a new tab. It comes up right away and seems to be mimicking the Google Search layout only it says Babylon in the top right of the screen...
