My Windows 7 64 bit machine will not boot. It keeps going into Windows System recovery mode. I have tried that multiple times and rebooted each time but no luck.System specs - Windows 7 64 bit, 16gb ram. Core i7-920 with 12 gb ram. This is an OEM disc that I bought from comp store, all parts and OS are less than three years old. C: drive - windows install a few apps, Drive 1 - games and music,
1) tried looking up this error with instructions. online instructions have had me go into the command prompt to perform edits on the c: windowsSystem32 folder. These do not come up in my prompt on my c: drive - where windows in installed. See program files etc, but no Windows32 folder.
2) already have run the c: chkdsk /r to try and fix the disc. It went through everything and comes back saying there are no problems. Still cannot boot to windows either get BSOD mentioned above or recovery mode.
3) Cannot go to previous restored state (one of the choices ) as it states that I have no restore points although I know that I have established at least 2 in the last 2-3 months
4) Tried inserting the Windows 7 disc and running repair from there but it just takes me to the same Windows system recovery mode which still does not work.
5) I tried hitting F8 during boot to go into safe mode but no good. it only takes me to a screen which gives me the option for boot order.
6) run the memory test from recovery console - no problems.
I have read the BSOD thread but everything there seems to assume that you can already boot into Windows at sometime and download the exe to run. (I cannot get into windows at all)Does anyone have any suggestions? I built this one myself (4th build) and have never in the 10 years of using Windows had a problem which I could not get into at least safe mode.I can go to maybe until this weekend but need to use my computer by Saturday cob.If I have had no luck at that point i will have to reinstall windows (it is on its own harddrive with most all of my applications on separate drives. So that may be a small blessing.I have had no strange occurrences while using the computer which is on pretty much 24/7.Is this what happens when a harddrive crashes? This one is about 2.5 years old and there have been no warning signs that something was amiss (no clicking etc)
My laptop does not seem to boot into safe mode. I've been tapping F8, even though it says F8...system restore on the bottom left corner, it still won't boot. I tried this other method on advance recovery method and chose use system image created earlier - that and return to factory condition gave me an error saying "windows cannot restart the computer into the windows recovery environment." One method I haven't tried is using msconfig - in boot option. I'm worried about using this method..What if when I restart my laptop and it keeps loading to safe mode. I just did an sfc scan.I forgot what it said. It did found some corrupted files, and it repaired it. The reason why I want to use safe mode is to use this recovery disc - I notice that when I turn on my laptop, it takes quite a while to boot up. As a result, I also found that I have a problem with creating an system image. I want to use this repair disc, but I can't go into safe mode, so I can choose repair your computer.
i installed LibUSB-Win32- drivers so i could use iRecovery on my iPhone,on completion of installation of LibUSB my keyboard and mouse turned off, well all of my USB was disabled. so i was forced to restart, sadly same thing, login screen no keyboard or mouse, i tried in safemode, same thing. however my keyboard works in CMOS and BIOS so i know its a OS issue. and this only happened when i installled LIBUSB, i looked it up and tried manually removing LibUSB using the Win7 setup disks command prompt. i deleted LibUSB0.sys out of Windows/Systen32/Drivers so that LibUSB wont be called upon during start up, however doing this has now meant my PC will reboot after loading Windows even in safemode, the Starting Windows screen appears. fades and riight before it goes to the login screen it restarts, Safemode too. i have no Restore points and i cannot and i mean Cannot Format this harddisk, its not backed up and i have over 400GB of data i absolutely NEED.Im so stuck its not funny i have no idea what to do to get windows booting again and without this silly LibUSB stuff! i dont have aany PS./2 Ports on my mobo either!, what can i do >? i just save my project and then after a few minutes i got BSOD i read "ntfs.sys" then i restart my computer and then my system won't boot, displaying in monitor is no cable connceted, but when i check it's ok.
I got the smart hdd virus last night, I tried to install malwarebytes but it was blocked by the virus, so I did a system restore from safe mode to 5 days ago. When the restore finished, it booted and said that the restore had not fully worked, but it appeared to have had, with all my files visible again, same with my programs. I then installed malwarebytes and restarted. In the middle of booting windows, it bsod'ed, I did not catch the error message. It does this when I try to boot every time. I have been having some troubles with this computer since day of purchase. The first BSOD I had was posted and resolved here: BSOD during battlefield 3. Previously, my computer would BSOD during game activity, such as battlefield 3. Elmer identified the probable cause being Avira, and sure enough when I attempted to delete it the computer BSOD; I managed to delete it in safemode and have had no BSOD's during game sessions ever since. However, lately I have encountered random BSOD's during Windows update and System start up (Just before the windows logo screen) of the same error code; I have posted the DMP file and CPUz screenshots. I think it is also worth mentioning that in games I have noticed stuttering no matter what graphical settings I set it to.I am having difficulty tracking down the Hardware responsible for this BSOD; I have run memtest overnight and it passed without fault. Could the 60gb Force 3 SSD be responsible? Or the RAM?
I have a new Toshiba Qosmio X770 laptop with Dual 120 Gb SSD drives. From the factory it had Win 7 Home. I upgraded immediately to Win 7 Ultimate x64. I set up the VM to use XP (Have to use XP because current dev projects with work are stuck in old ages on XP for the time being). I can run the XP Mode in VM fine and even Visual Studios functions fine. There is a problem with the 3rd party drivers for the USB comm boards we are using, the USB drivers apparently cannot be shared across the VM environment for the particular ones we are using.
It all started when I realized I downloaded the 32 bit operating system on my desktop. Now however, I got a BSOD when I inserted the CD into the desktop. People around the internet said that you must go ahead and format the drive, So, I went ahead and did that. Thus deleting the operating system in the process. Now, When I try downloading the operating system, I get this message:Boot MGR is missing. restart the computer.I have tried everything. Using my laptop to make a USB Drive to boot it up. I cannot do that because my laptop is a 32 bit operating system, and I want a 64 bit.Please, The motherboard is a M5A 78L-M LX Plus with an AMD chipset. The monitors work fine and everything works until the boot MGR Pops up. I am puzzled because while working on computers in school, this only popped up when the operating system was on the harddrive. However, I cannot do anything at all.
I am trying to fix a friends labtop. I have been on the internet trying to find an answer but nothing works from answers on internet. When you turn the computer on it shows, Windows Error Recovery. Either Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally. I use Launch Startup Repair and the screen goes blank after a couple of minutes the mouse comes up and can be moved but the screen stays blank. I have pushed buttons nothing has happened, it stays here, so I have to turn it off. It starts all over again. So I try Starting Windows Normally, it will just stay at the Starting Windows logo. It will stay here forever. The windows logo will fade with the color but it will stay here. I will then turn it off and try booting in Safemode. It starts with the drivers loading but then it freezes on Loaded:windowssystem32DRIVERSAtiPcie.sys. This is for all three of safemode options. I have tried all the other boots in the options and none of them work. They all will just freeze on starting windows or go to blank screen. So I tried to boot to Windows 7 CD. I put it in and nothing comes up. There is no Click on keys to boot from cd, but the cd does make noise like it is doing something. It will just be on a blank screen. I have also reset the bios to factory.
Error causes BSOD right after the windows logo. If attempting to boot into safemode, it just shows my mouse cursor and stays black. Nothing comes up.I have tried most of what I know what to try. I took my graphics card out (as someone on another forum suggested) and made sure the pins were all cleaned off. That did nothing. Since someone on another forum thought it was a graphics issue, my card is a GTX480 1536M GDDR5 384B Dual-DVI mHDMI (to be specific LOL)
Trying to play a game and since it's Jap, I had to change the system locale to Japan. After rebooting, because it requires a reboot, I got a BSOD in about a minute. I thought it was okay and wouldn't happen again because it ran out of memory or something. After I reboot, I got another BSOD and now it's saying "Reboot or insert proper boot device.
I went to the BIOS and my HD was the first boot priority. I'm a total noobie when it comes to computers.
I have an ASUS K52F-BBR5 Notebook. Could my HD be corrupted or is there a way to fix this? I'm currently finding my installation disk to see if I can do a startup repair.
I constantly bsod on reboot. Yesterday I took out my graphics card because i was selling it in an old computer. It was a ati 4770. I threw in an old xfx 8500 gt because my motherboard doesnt have an internal gfx. It ran for about an hour or so and then i started getting this BSOD. Not thinking I assummed it had something to do with the old card going bad. Today i went and bought a new one to through in and I am still receiveing the same issue.
Suddenly my Win 7 Home Premium x64 will not boot. The system starts, POSTs then loads the DVD driver, then the screen goes black (not blank but "lit up" black if that makes sense). Then nothing. If I use Hiren's boot cd I can boot up using the "boot from HDD" option fine and Windows operates normally. System restore to a previous configuration made no difference to the original problem. I cannot boot into Safe Mode. F8 just offers me boot order options.
- Running the Windows 7 DVD I find: "No operating system is listed on the Repair Windows option." - Running Startup Repair finds the following error: "the partition table does not have a valid system partition" which it claims to have repaired, but the error remains and Windows will still not boot.

My system partition was easily identified and listed as healthy so I selected it and made it active. The problem still remains exactly the same. My system is self built just over a year ago, to my knowledge has been running fine, without any hardware issues. I'm prepared to do a clean install if that's what it takes but if there is a way to fix the partition problem without that I'd like to explore it first.
I have a WIN -7 system with 1 trig SADA hard drive. I also have a Vista system with a 750mb hard drive from my old computer.Can I install the Vista hard drive into the Win-7 system and boot from either system?
I want to make a recovery disc to reset my entire 4 partition dual boot hard drive back to its current state. the recovery would reset both xp and win 7 which i have dual booting. can i make one single image to do this without it screwing up my boot loaders etc? what should i use? 3rd party software?
Did a system restore in Windows 7 and my dual boot system (Windows 7&XP) won't boot. It's looking for a boot device. When I put in a Hiren boot 10.6 disk, the dual boot option is one of a number of alternatives, and it allows me to get into my pc. How can I get back to having the system work like it did before? I am having a problem starting my PC! I have to start it in the boot menu under the RAID option. If I do not do this a message saying "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.." comes up, and just keeps popping up regardless of what I press! I would try using my boot disk but for the life of me I can't find it, and as windows 7 was already installed on this computer when we got it 3 year ago, I can't accurately recall if it came with one!I am no expert on BIOS, but I have read other problems similar to this one, and know that if I don't have the boot disk or the OS disk, I will need to know that at least.I am curious if the (Hard drive) is the issue. The BIOS tells me that anything in parentheses is disabled from corresponding type menu.
I recently received a new laptop. After starting after time with no problems I received a blue screen with Verticle black stripes then it shut off. After attempting to reboot it I receive this error in a black DOS like screen.

i had multiple systems (3) on my computer but mainly 1 i use everyday, so i formated the two partitions with the systems i dont need after a reeboot (like i ecpected) i had a bootmbr missing error. So i went and tryed using the repair function of the dvd but that dident work. So i installed a complete new system on one of the new partitions (i left the old one allown), after i installed the new system i booted up and installed easy bcd and added my old partition to my boot manager, but after i boot up I can see the boot menu and select the old system i want to start up from but it brings an error and tells me to enter the dvd and repair the system. I am so lost on this. why istent it just taking the files and booting? what did i do wrong
I recently built a new system running windows 7 home premium 64bit. I downloaded the latest drivers for all the hardware in my system and completed as much updates for the OS that were available.
What is happening is each cold boot of the computer, I will ALWAYS BSOD within the first few minutes, after the mouse starts to lag really bad and skip around. If i IMMEDIATELY restart the computer, it will literally run for weeks without a hiccup.I have replaced nearly every part of my rig minus the CPU and Memory. I've put in a new MOBO, SSD/SATA drives, Video card, Power supply. Flashed the BIOS with the latest version. The only thing left is the CPU.I've recently ran the windows memory diagnostics everything passed fine, but I've bought new memory just in case - will try that tonight.
I'll make it long story short. I had turned off some unnecessary things in msconfig like some of the pre-loaded vaio software that I never used, but realized I had turned off the service that allows me to change the volume, brightness, etc...so I turned that back on in msconfig, and restarted. What has been happening since is it will BSOD at the windows loading screen, right before the screen where it asks for your password. It will say "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_DEVICE" I have tried starting in safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking, last known good configuration, and normally. I've also tried the "repair your computer" option in the advanced boot options, and when that loads, it just opens a low resolution windows background and shows the mouse on the screen forever. I even let it sit all night to see if it was just being horrendously slow and it was still just a blank screen with the mouse. I also made a windows repair CD on my home PC and tried using that, and it still does not repair it. I can't even boot my laptop anymore. It's a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Sony Vaio VPCCW17FX, I just reformatted it back in august?
today i got a BSOD that said:Windows has shut down to prevent damage to computer.I couldn't get the dump file because i cannot boot it.All i did before was plugged in a new headset before even booting it.The biggest issue comes that i can't boot windows 7 from cd/dvd.It stops at windows boot screen.Same happens when booting from CD / DVD.( I am not overclocking )I just had 2 more blue screens i didn't had enough time to read it but it says BAD_HEADER (while booting in safe mode)and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ( booting in normal mode)
So I'm not sure where to start. I can't get into windows to attach a log on here. I swapped out almost every piece of hardware. Sometimes the windows loading screen freezes and I need to shut it down myself and sometimes it doesn't but that's where I end up with the blue screens or it reboots itself right as it tries to load windows. I've been getting mainly 124 and x09c errors. It crashed in the middle of playing battlefield3. I was able to log onto windows maybe 3-4 times before it wouldn't even let me get close
I'm having problems with my brothers PC, a few months ago everything was fine, the we added 2 Gb RAM and suddenly it was frozen, ok restarted and once in a while he got that kind of problems, sudden freezes or reboots, then one day it won't boot showing a BSOD regarding win32k.sys and another with MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and finally evolved to BAD_CONFIG_SYSTEM_INFO. it just won't start, did the chkdsk as suggested by a live ubuntu CD and it was a 4 day chkdsk, at least after that I was able to see my files in ubuntu. Tried everything with the recovery options and none worked.
Well that's the background, I reisntalled Win7 in a new HDD and after a few days this time tested the system for a week with the original 2 RAM sticks, after that a one of the new stick was installed and everything went fine for another 2 week till it had boot problems, after trying to do things with the repair options again I was able to get in the disk so I could backup with Ubuntu, saved info but win still wont start, and then it appeared as if it wasn't formatted, so I installed XP in another disk and tried to open the disk, it wasnt formatted so I run chkdsk and the disk was fine again, restart and this time there was no Bootmgr (dont know what happened, I installed XP with the other disk unplugged) so I copied it from the installation disk and it loaded windows (with the vista animation... repaired with a line code from a win blog) and again everything was running again nicely.
A few days ago it happended again, this time while windows has loading (orbs) the tablet started blinking and nothing happended, reboot, safe mode, reboot and everything ok.
Today, it stopped right after the orbs animation, just right before the login, 1 minute and nothing happened, so reboot and asked for chkdsk, once it was complete, it tool about 30 min to load the desktop and it was unusable I let it load for an hour it loaded gadgets but still unusable tried to click something and it gave me a terminate process window, so again reboot and now every partition needed chkdsk, if cancelled the BAD_CONFIG_SYSTEM_INFO prompted, I wasn't able to even start from XP it displayed disk error at bios, then again tried with win 7 and this time the and let it finish chkdsk in the installation unit, it finally started but I cant access 3 of 4 partitions in the other disk, only the one with XP installed.
Right now I'm trying to recover the other partitions with the chkdsk in the cmd, but I don't have a clue of what is happening.
What I know is:
- The two RAM sticks installed right now are fine, worked fine before the new ones. - The slow windows loading could be caused due some driver, in this case I've read quicktime uses the same path as the wacom tablet and add a semicolon everytime it updates but don't know exactly what that means. My brother installed quicktime through a download manager from softonic the day before the problem happened again (the repaired installation). Deactivated QT update and worked for a few days till now.
Right now I was able to recover 3 of 4 partitions, the one I couldn't recover was the one with the previous installation (before the new HDD), it says the MFT is damaged and chkdsk can't continue, how can I fix that?
I don't know what might cause the problem, might be the old HDD? Some driver? What can be the cause for those chkdsks? I tried a lot of things, right now even powering off the PSU with the back switch (after shutting down win of course) looks suspicious.
