I am trying to find the audio effects settings in Win7 but haven't been able to do so.In WinXP, the audio effects settings is under the following:Right-click Sound icon in taskbar > Adjust Audio Properties > Audio tab > Sound playback > Advanced > Effects tab.Therefore I would like to know whether 1) this setting exists in Win7 and if it does, 2) where can i find the equivalent settings in Win7

It's quite annoying since i have to change it back to the settings I need every time it does that. It was working just fine before that. I've got no idea at all what could have caused this whatsoever.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI understand without being in some sort of perfectly quiet environment/home studio, nothing can be perfect.That aside, I recently purchased a new USB condenser mic (cardoid) and it can pick up all sort of sounds from my keyboard typing, mouse clicks, and my PC fans. My PC is positioned about as far as it will go without pulling the plugs out. It might also be worth noting there are no speakers on my PC. I've also read there is supposed to be a Microphone Boost in my recording settings as well as a Microphone Enhancements tab? There never has been, on any mic I've used on my PC. And it's been suggested that this might be a possible fix, but I'm sort of doubtful on that.I've been thinking of investing in more audio equipment (shock mount, scissor arm, pop filter?) or perhaps returning it for a different mic altogether.

obviously both of these are shockingly bad. the thing that makes it worse is that i have just brought a brand new usb desktop microphone (logitech usb desktop microphone) and windows is only offering the same settings as my old webcam microphone (and it sounds just as bad).

the guy is using windows 7 64-bit (same as me) but he has the option to increase the audio quality to dvd quality. it's the same exact microphone, same windows and appears to be the same driver. i'm running windows 7 ultimate 64-bit so it should include all of the drivers, yes?
logitech doesn't offer any drivers and the guy in the video mysteriously has the same driver but has more options than me. the microphone is just as useless with loud echos and the like as my old webcam microphone.
I only have 2GB ram at the moment, but a 64bit capable processor. I'm considering installing Windows 7 64bit just for After Effects CS5. Would this be stupid? Would I notice any performance drops,
View 7 Replies View RelatedAt some point during my usage, the effects for minimizing, closing, opening, and maximizing get turned off by Windows. I'll be enjoying the effects until at some point... closing and opening windows become instant (like in Windows XP or older), same with minimize/maximize. I never turn these off, but windows for some reason does. What gets me is, I go all the way into system control panel and adjust those settings... they are STILL checked! I uncheck/recheck them and press apply and I get my effects back. It doesn't last forever, though... the effects eventually stop working again and I have to once again go all the way into that panel to force them to work again.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi had driver corruption (original thread HERE)The current problem is that I'm unable to use the equalizer on my audio card.I am forced to "Disable all sound effects" in order to get any sound (including the driver's test sound) to play. The sound plays fine, but this disables my equalizer.When i first built my PC everything was fine. but now, when i uninstall drivers, reboot, and reinstall drivers from the MOBO CD it is either detecting the wrong one or there is some other issue i'm unaware of. [code] i am very certain that the ATI HD Audio device used to say "RealTek Digitial Audio" or something like that. uninstalling and reinstalling drivers - or updating to the latest Vid/Aud drivers has not helped.(for those people that intend to be helpful but don't know there are instances where the video driver is actually responsible for the audio device, rather than the audio driver)

For the past week or so, my Aero effects (just the minimizing/opening window effect) keep resetting to "off" whenever I log on or restart my computer.
Here are the settings after restarting: I can check the 2 unchecked boxed, click OK, and the effects will start to work.
Here are the settings after logging off and back on: Even though the 2 culprit checkboxes are checked, the effects are not working.
I can't think of anything new that I've installed that would do this. In fact, I haven't installed a new program in months.
[code] When I overclock my CPU the aero effects turns off about a minute later. I use AMD Overdrive software for overclocking and the tempratures are 10 degrees celsius on IDLE and 25-30 on load (playing high-res games or rendering videos) Does anyone know why the aero effects turn off, and is there a way to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows 7 on it, about a month and a half ago. Ever since the first week a problem happens periodically, at least once a week if not more. The screen will turn black, usually flickering so I can see the mouse for a second, then it flickers black, then I see the mouse, etc. Usually the only way I can fix it is by closing the laptop and waiting, then it will go into sleep mode.I get it started back up, and all the sudden I can no longer see my desktop, or the icons in my taskbar.I can get these back by changing and saving one property on each, then everything seems to be fine. This problem is not associated with a screen saver, it happens at seemingly random times. Sometimes when I'm dealing with a new program, but sometimes when I'm simply browsing the internet. It could be connected to google chrome I guess.

I know the program is legit because I've used it before and I know it won't harm my PC. But is there any downside to being permanently in Test Mode? Just wondering if its possible to have the border effect on each side of the screen with dual monitors. Mine are only on the far right and far left, no middle as it seems logical if you have 2 monitors you might want to have 50% coved with one window and have the 2nd 50% with another window, then you could full screen a 3rd window or just have 2 more halves. but the current way it works is 2 halves then a big empty space in the middle or 2 full screens.
I love the easy and quick way to organize/resize the windows but its very inconvenient to do this manually for half of the screen.
The problem came out of nowhere, I noticed my computer didn't animate when minimizing, opening, or closing a window. The "animate windows when minimizing and maximizing" option is enabled. When I restart my computer, it will still show that it is enabled when I bring up that window but it won't work unless I re-apply it. This has nothing to do with aero and my video card driver is up to date. I also noticed this after I recently installed new rams but I don't see how it could affect it.

I now added a second card: PCI NVIDIA Geforce 6200 with a third display.It's no problem to install the second card as it uses the same drivers as the first one. Im also able to activate the 3rd display and usw it, but im experiencing some sideffects. Sometimes (quite often) the system freezes for about 20 seconds.

Sometimes when I start up my pc the windows seven aero effects are real slow. they are smooth and not stuttering but just mega slow. when logging in the fade out and fade in takes like 5 seconds. When I reboot, it is fixed...its random when I boot my pc. Sometimes I need to restart because this weird thing happens and another time it doesn't.

When I "upgraded" though I chose to completly reinstall my OS.Anyways I used to have transparency, but when I try to get that same effect it says "The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."and then when I try to troubleshoot it says "Video card driver doesn't support Aero effects" . I've tried the "Fix it" options, but that doesnt work. I just don't see how transperancy would work on vista but not with windows 7... do I seriously have to purchase a new video card?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using Corsair SSD as Windows 7 x64 boot drive, and I moved both User & System Variables TMP/TEMP directory to a new common TMP directory in another hdd (Drive D) & also disabled pagefile on my boot drive (but enabled it for Drive D).
Question is, what happens if I take off my hdd (Drive D and Windows 7 / applications need a temporary directory which doesn't exist anymore ? Will Windows 7 be smart enough to create a new temp dir in the original location ? I wonder if the dependancy on the hdd as TMP directory becomes critical.
About pagefile, I understand Windows 7 needs a min pagefile of 400MB on boot drive to allow memory dump. What happens if I disable pagefile on boot drive & enable it on another drive ? Will memory dump work ?

View 5 Replies View RelatedNow, just 3 days ago It started the BSOD issue.I realize that my GPU was the cause of this issue. When playing games or open 3d applications the temp goes 30C to 72C (In 15 seconds) then 82C - 85C constant (in about 30 seconds).Now I've been using MSI afterburner to check my temps and at fulload my GPU will be at 62-72C max temperature but now it's 10C even higher then before. No, I haven't fiddled with the voltage I set the GPU voltage to 1.037v which is the safest (been running this almost 8 months!). The GPU is the GTX 560ti.Is there a way to set the GPU on default settings or reset GPU settings in cmd or other professional way. I have uninstalled the drivers, uninstalling GPU, disabled GPU, disabled PCI-E slot and so on by using device manager and the issue still persist. Yes, I also have clean the GPU perfectly and still the temperature goes up to 82 seconds at 30seconds-45seconds. Yes, I have checked everything is set correctly and so on, I am a PC Tech.
Is the GPU damaged? Yes I have looked at this thread: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Mainly, I know its the GPU straight away, I tried checking old drivers, new drivers, another GPU overclocked software such as GPU tweak and EVGA Precision. I am thinking it's the GPU is damaged or the PCI-E is damaged (I have another PCI-E slot on my system and the issue still there). It might be the PCI-E frequency? but it's set to 100 which it meant to be, I just hope is software related because I don't have the money to buy a new card. Did the dump files help?
I have windows 7 home premium on my 'DELL 580S'- desktop (i3, 3.2ghz, 4gb, 400gb, dvd +/- R/W). I have VLC player as default player to view all my videos. I have MOYELA FLV editor installed. I downloaded, edited & merged two '.FLV ' files, since one song was split and continued in separate files on the host site. The edited file is not playing on VLC player. But it plays well on MOYELA FLV PLAYER. So, if I change the APPLICATION to Moyela player for this edited file in 'PROPERTIES', all other files are also automatically changing to Moyela from default 'VLC'.So also, if I change the application of one '.PDF' file to 'ADOBE READER', all other files are also changing from my default 'FOXIT READER' to 'ADOBE READER'. How to change the application for only some files keeping others to my default? I can open individually in the chosen application, but, then I have to make a note beside each file (in brackets with the name of the file) which application opens this file.
