So ive been getting the black screen with movable cursor lately and have tried many a methods to remove it i tried checking in my event log for something, and this is waht it said "The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:dtsoftbus01" So what does this mean and how can i fix this?

i am using dell inspiron 1520 model and i have installed sigmatel high definition audio codec. Recently i installed some themes and after that my system's sound is not working. I am not able to play any media file as sound is not coming from it. I have checked the codec and it is installed properly and working (as displayed in its status) but sound is not coming.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi had driver corruption (original thread HERE)The current problem is that I'm unable to use the equalizer on my audio card.I am forced to "Disable all sound effects" in order to get any sound (including the driver's test sound) to play. The sound plays fine, but this disables my equalizer.When i first built my PC everything was fine. but now, when i uninstall drivers, reboot, and reinstall drivers from the MOBO CD it is either detecting the wrong one or there is some other issue i'm unaware of. [code] i am very certain that the ATI HD Audio device used to say "RealTek Digitial Audio" or something like that. uninstalling and reinstalling drivers - or updating to the latest Vid/Aud drivers has not helped.(for those people that intend to be helpful but don't know there are instances where the video driver is actually responsible for the audio device, rather than the audio driver)

Ive been looking for hours and some of the solutions i found said to uninstall it. Im not sure if my computer could b harmed by uninstalling it but are there any solutions to update it? Every time I download some software like Chrome, VLC, iTunes , it downloads fine, but when it has to install it gives strange errors. I have seen all kinds of errors.
E.g.: VLC gives NSIS error.
Microsoft Security Essentials gives "File Corrupt Error".
Got certificate invalid error for some other software. if I download zip files, they fail with CRC check.
Just to be sure it wasn't hardware issue, I installed vista as a second OS and that works fine. I am really uncertain what is causing the issue (seems network related though). I had an old router and just purchased a new linksys router. Other configurations are: Core 2 Quad, EVGA SLI ready motherboard, 4GB DDR2 ram, ASUS EN210 gphx card.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am thoroughly stumped on this one. I have a user with a brand new, freshly installed computer running Windows 7 (Prof, 64bit) and Office Pro 2010 (32bit). The computer is connected to a Win2008 Active Directory with roaming profiles.
When the user downloads a report in .doc format on this computer, every table has a very odd bit of what appears to be scripting code of some type. Here is a sample:
Here is the kicker - if the user goes to another computer and downloads the .doc file, the code block is not there if another user logs onto HER computer and downloads the .doc file, the code block is not there which tells me that the problem is NOT in the document itself, nor is there something wrong with the Office install on her computer.
I downloaded Windows 7 on my Mac and now I have no sound when I use Windows 7....

I can listen to music through my headphones fine on ubuntu (dual-boot) so it is not the audio card, the headphones or the jack. I have tried re-installing the audio driver multiple times, as well as messing around with the settings in the sound controls, but nothing works. I have used both the dell.com audio drivers as well as the windows update audio drivers and they don't make a difference.

I have read countless forums and have: updated my graphics driver, checked to make sure it is plugged in correctly, and configured many settings. It is not a problem with the speakers because I have gone and bought new ones that do work with my super old toshiba. This has to be a problem with the P.C. that I cannot figure out. View 2 Replies View RelatedAs the title says, my sound drops whenever I play a game on my PC, so I turn the volume up & 20 mins later it blasts out because the sound has reset or is back to its normal level.This seems to happen is every game, I use a Realtek Onboard HD as my sound but I also went and bought a 7.1 Soundcard (Speedlink Stage 7.1) and it did the same issue, I then installed the Speedlink into my wifes other quad core PC & it is working fine, not a single issue or drop.I have ever asked some tech guys, who said it may be my AV or programs like "Steam" running in the background, but the wife uses "Steam" also with zero effects, we both use the same AV/security (COMODO Internet Security), and again she has no problems.I use Cambridge soundworks 5.1 speakers as does the missus.

Also I've tried to play movie(avi) but it also failed. Just a minutes ago I downloaded codec and installed it. But guess what, same problem.Just one more thing: when I restart my PC I can play any file I want but just in first five minutes I'll go jump off a bridge. I mean unistall windows and get a linux. I can not seem to play any video games without the sound from the game turning off and pausing any music I happen to be listening to. I can turn back on the Music by skipping ahead in the song track but the game sound stays off until it resolves itself after a few minutes.

WMP does not give me any error message; it just abruptly stops playing the DVD and the DVD title becomes "Unknown DVD". However, when I disconnect my sound card, DVDs play as per normal.

Yesterday, I made several updates (Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit updates, upgrade to K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 7.8.4 and K-Lite Codec Pack 5.3.0-64bit, upgrade to Avira Free Antivirus 2012 and so forth...). After that, when I play sounds and plug my headphone, the sounds keep playing through BOTH headphone and speaker.This is extremely annoyed me because I have to work in the library, lab and class room with my laptop usually and I can't listen to music while studying with this problem.
