We have a tennis club with a central PC for our members so they can surf the internet and use the online reservation system. However in the evening we use that PC also to play music via Spotify. So we need an efficient way to change to the other user account with Spotify on it so that the sound card is always playing the music from Spotify even when we change back to the user account for the members.
I have my computer set up as a HTPC and is connected to my HDTV. The problem is, my TV only has two HD ports and I have three things to connect to it: TelusTV box, Blu-ray player, and computer. I don't want to have to leave the computer unlocked for all to access, but I'd like it to be as easy as possible for anyone to instantly start playing a disk, preferably without logging into a guest account first.
I am stuck with a problem for quite a while now, Almost every morning when I return to my computer I find my user logged out of windows on the "logon screen". I do have the option "On resume, display logon screen" set and I don't want to change it for security reasons, it works fine for short times.( screensaver turns on, I move the mouse, I am back on the "logon screen" but still loged on). But it appears that if windows is left idle for too long on the screensaver it not only returns to the "logon screen" but also logs me off, I can rule out that the computer crashes over night and reboots from the system up time. Maybe there is a security policy setting or something that I am missing?
For some reason I can no longer edit user account information. The following options do not work:
Add or Remove User Accounts Create an Administrator Account Create an Account Create Standard User Account Turn Guest Account On / Off
All the options appear, it's just when I click on them nothing happens?! I'm logged in as Administrator, I even unlocked the hidden Administrator account and am still running into the same issues. As far as answers go all I can find is the typical, "do a system restore", "reinstall Windows", crap like that. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
I'm running Windows 7 home 64bit processor on my Lenovo laptop. There 3 user profiles. How do I check the last time (not this session) somebody logged into my user profile?
There is a command in the Resource Kit Tools (SHOWPRIV.EXE) for earlier versions of Windows. I don't find a link for a downloadable RKT set for Win7 (though I see some online references to it's existence.
Bottom line: Is there is a PowerShell script / command to help enumerate the permissions of the logged on user, providing a similar output to showpriv?
Sound does not want to play through my headphones. at all. I can listen to music through my headphones fine on ubuntu (dual-boot) so it is not the audio card, the headphones or the jack. I have tried re-installing the audio driver multiple times, as well as messing around with the settings in the sound controls, but nothing works. I have used both the dell.com audio drivers as well as the windows update audio drivers and they don't make a difference.
i have an old computer running intel dq965gf mobo. recently, I upgraded it from windows vista 32bit to windows 7 64bit. i plugged the speakers in the right way, but the computer couldn't detect them. than i downloaded the driver for my mobo, and it showed like everything is working fine, but no sound came out. i've already tried different speakers and headphones. after searching on google i found that i may need SigmaTEL audio driver. so i downloaded it and tried to install after uninstalling the intel driver, but an error message came saying "device isn't present. restart your computer and try again. i restarted my pc and tried again, but the error message came again.
So my speakers decided to not work after I unplugged them and then plugged them back in. I have read countless forums and have: updated my graphics driver, checked to make sure it is plugged in correctly, and configured many settings. It is not a problem with the speakers because I have gone and bought new ones that do work with my super old toshiba. This has to be a problem with the P.C. that I cannot figure out. I was using old dell speakers before and am using bose speakers now. My headset will play sound if this helps. I am using an asus p9 x79 motherboard with a geforce 550 ti graphics card.
As the title says, my sound drops whenever I play a game on my PC, so I turn the volume up & 20 mins later it blasts out because the sound has reset or is back to its normal level. This seems to happen is every game, I use a Realtek Onboard HD as my sound but I also went and bought a 7.1 Soundcard (Speedlink Stage 7.1) and it did the same issue, I then installed the Speedlink into my wifes other quad core PC & it is working fine, not a single issue or drop.I have ever asked some tech guys, who said it may be my AV or programs like "Steam" running in the background, but the wife uses "Steam" also with zero effects, we both use the same AV/security (COMODO Internet Security), and again she has no problems.I use Cambridge soundworks 5.1 speakers as does the missus.
I'm looking to set my PC up to play through my TV (a Panasonic TH42PX60b) via a HDMI cable, however there appears to be no sound! I have tried changing the default devices but it still won't work! Should the HDMI carry the signal or do I need to run a 3.5 jack as well.
I recently had to purchase a brand new motherboard because my last one died on me and now I am having a strange problem. I can not seem to play any video games without the sound from the game turning off and pausing any music I happen to be listening to. I can turn back on the Music by skipping ahead in the song track but the game sound stays off until it resolves itself after a few minutes.
I have seen settings in other operating systems to turn on or off system sounds but have never had the computer play actual audio through the system sound itself.Anyways im woindering if someone can tell me how to turn this on, some of the computers in my office do this others dont and its really useful for employees watching 5 min training vids, not to have to hook up speakers etc. should have specified these systems are all on win7 and there are all the same model/components.
I have an external USB soundcard (Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6), and it has come to my attention that I am completely unable to play DVDs on my computer when my soundcard is connected. WMP does not give me any error message; it just abruptly stops playing the DVD and the DVD title becomes "Unknown DVD". However, when I disconnect my sound card, DVDs play as per normal.
I am using Dell Inspiron 15R N5010 laptop. Yesterday, I made several updates (Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit updates, upgrade to K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 7.8.4 and K-Lite Codec Pack 5.3.0-64bit, upgrade to Avira Free Antivirus 2012 and so forth...). After that, when I play sounds and plug my headphone, the sounds keep playing through BOTH headphone and speaker. This is extremely annoyed me because I have to work in the library, lab and class room with my laptop usually and I can't listen to music while studying with this problem.
So ive been getting the black screen with movable cursor lately and have tried many a methods to remove it i tried checking in my event log for something, and this is waht it said "The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:dtsoftbus01" So what does this mean and how can i fix this?
I have USB speakers and today bought a USB headset. I can't seem to get them to both to work at the same time when plugged in. I usually like to keep the headphones around my neck while using the mic, but listen to my nice Bose speakers. When it gets to be late at night, just put the headphones on and turn off the speakers. Either way, the mic needs to work at both times.
They are both plugged into USB slots in the back of the computer.
I use Dell studio 1558 WIN7 x64 .And this problem showed up a couple of weeks ago. The problem is ,When I open any media file be it any video or mp3 on my laptop..the media player or any other player lets say realplayer crashes or gives and error saying "encountered some problem ".And at the same the same time can't play any video or audio on any of my browser and browser crashes . System Restore solves the problem and brings everything back to normal.BUT then again in a day or two,the problem comes back and I have to restore again.I have done System Restore 6 times so far.and yet again the problem has showed up again and not allowing me to do anything except simple browsing without any audio or video.
i am using dell inspiron 1520 model and i have installed sigmatel high definition audio codec. Recently i installed some themes and after that my system's sound is not working. I am not able to play any media file as sound is not coming from it. I have checked the codec and it is installed properly and working (as displayed in its status) but sound is not coming.
When I plug my acer "Expire Timeline X" To my TV HcMi Cable, there is no sound transfer with it.Windows7, 500g, intel i3 350m processor. 512mb dedicated graphics
I'm having trouble with what someone told me was hdd activty. Im not sure when it started but its causing serious lag issues especially when i play wow (world of warcraft). Plus there is a slight buzzing sound coming from my computer. This is a brand new computer not an old one. I ran CCleaner and italso defragged my computer as well. How can I fix this irritating problem. I attached a pic of my system info.
My Windows 7 pro x64 system will not play the "Print Complete" sound after printing a document.I get the pop-up saying that the print job has completed, just like it did with Win XP. However, the sound is not played. The sounds applet in control panel has the "Print Complete" sound defined correctly and the Test button plays the sound. So I do not have an audio problem, and the .wav file is not blocked.I have looked for any options that could control the sound, but have not found any.
I have had some problems recently with my PC, and the latest is that my sound doesn't work. I have Realtek HD Audio. I can still see my speakers under the Sound list in Control Panel, and they say they work. All of my drivers are up to date and say they work. I have tried many things, some of which where disabling all sound effects under enhancements, reinstalling all the drivers, and restarting the Windows Audio.
I am dealing with more of an annoyance than a serious problem. When I start up I recv. a msg stating that I am not logged on as an administrator. I then have to switch users at the start menu and then no more pop up and I do have administrative capabilities.I am not that computer savy but I dont think this is normal. Other than the guest account(which is off), I am the only user. I have been through the control panel inside out and upside down. I am listed as the administrator for sure, in a group, not a domain. I also turned off the password requirement. I am confused as to why I have to take that step.
This is what happened I open my computer and opened my yahoo browser. I clicked at "Mail" and a new page came up with someone else's email account without me not even trying to log in. I look at the name and email address and I don't recognize it, I'm sure its not one of my family or friends. So my question is, is my computer hacked by someone?
My wife and I like to set different desktop settings and preferences, so we're always switching from one user to the other, without logging off. The only problem we've encountered with this is that anytime a keyboard hotkey is pressed (sometimes other situations) the software launches across both users.
For example, punch the calculator key on one user, the calculator launches on all users. Use the calculator several separate times in one session, many calculator windows will be on the desktop of the other user when a switch is made.
Is there any way to solve this? Without logging off and logging on each time we want to switch users?
well, i have an acer laptop (the small ones, notepad??!!) it went wrong couple of days ago - my background image on desktop was missing ,and was just a black screen with icons on , so it was suggested to do a system restore - which i did do, now when i log on, i get a message saying "you have logged on with a temp profile" etc, and iv logged of and on several times since then, and it still appears
