View 4 Replies View RelatedI am dealing with more of an annoyance than a serious problem. When I start up I recv. a msg stating that I am not logged on as an administrator. I then have to switch users at the start menu and then no more pop up and I do have administrative capabilities.I am not that computer savy but I dont think this is normal. Other than the guest account(which is off), I am the only user. I have been through the control panel inside out and upside down. I am listed as the administrator for sure, in a group, not a domain. I also turned off the password requirement. I am confused as to why I have to take that step.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is what happened I open my computer and opened my yahoo browser. I clicked at "Mail" and a new page came up with someone else's email account without me not even trying to log in. I look at the name and email address and I don't recognize it, I'm sure its not one of my family or friends. So my question is, is my computer hacked by someone?

My wife and I like to set different desktop settings and preferences, so we're always switching from one user to the other, without logging off. The only problem we've encountered with this is that anytime a keyboard hotkey is pressed (sometimes other situations) the software launches across both users.
For example, punch the calculator key on one user, the calculator launches on all users. Use the calculator several separate times in one session, many calculator windows will be on the desktop of the other user when a switch is made.
Is there any way to solve this? Without logging off and logging on each time we want to switch users?
well, i have an acer laptop (the small ones, notepad??!!) it went wrong couple of days ago - my background image on desktop was missing ,and was just a black screen with icons on , so it was suggested to do a system restore - which i did do, now when i log on, i get a message saying "you have logged on with a temp profile" etc, and iv logged of and on several times since then, and it still appears
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am stuck with a problem for quite a while now, Almost every morning when I return to my computer I find my user logged out of windows on the "logon screen". I do have the option "On resume, display logon screen" set and I don't want to change it for security reasons, it works fine for short times.( screensaver turns on, I move the mouse, I am back on the "logon screen" but still loged on). But it appears that if windows is left idle for too long on the screensaver it not only returns to the "logon screen" but also logs me off, I can rule out that the computer crashes over night and reboots from the system up time. Maybe there is a security policy setting or something that I am missing?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a computer that is a member of a domain and can log into the domain but once logged in it cannot access anything on the network or even ping either DNS. From another computer on the network I cannot ping that machine either. When logged in locally we ensured that all the TCP/IP settings were correct and the Windows Firewall is turned off.
Where else should I look for the cause of this issue? Why would the computer not be able to ping either DNS but still be able to log into the domain?
While I'm playing Battlefield 2, I get a warning of a connection problem. This lasts about 4 seconds, then again about 3 seconds after that. This used to happen once every half hour or so, but its become much more frequent, to the point where the game is unplayable.
I have a network meter gadget on the desktop and I've noticed a spike in traffic at about the same intervals. At first, I thought it was Skype or Avast to blame, but I can count them out after stopping each one.
I need some way to log which program accesses the network at what time, so I can compare the spikes to the correct time and hopefully find the program responsible. Is this possible?
On XP you can right click on start and go to explore and tell by looking at the tree if it is an admin or who the current user is. How do I do this on Win 7?

Facebook is keeping me logged in even after i close the browser (Firefox 6.0.2). and yes the option to keep me logged in is NOT selected.
EDIT: just found out that the problem is not Facebook, but Firefox. It also keeps me logged in to my mail accounts, even my school account, and i haven't changed any settings in Firefox.
might be more of a computer problem than firefox, i just closed firefox and opened up the task manager and without a firefox window open the process was still running.
I logged onto my hotmail account and now everytime I open the page it logs me straight in. I do not have any autocomplete ticked or 'remember me' on the hotmail page. To ensure it wasn't a problem with hotmail I tried it on Yahoo Mail and the same thing. I changed my hotmail password and now when I open up the hotmail page it keeps trying with the old password constantly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI logged onto my account on my laptop, and when it loaded, a message came up saying "User logged on with temporary profile. Log in later to fix this problem." I couldn't access any of my files or folders, and it looked like a guest account. All the other accounts work. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary on my computer lately. I burned Ubuntu to my flash drive for my other computer using Live USB Install last night and then logged off. Someone else in my house logged onto their profile and when I logged onto mine a few minutes ago, I got that error message. I tried logging out and logging back in, and it didn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was watching a video and my laptop HP Pavilion G6-1b54ca fell asleep and logged out. Once I logged back in everything was working fine except there was no audio. I've tried doing a system restore, uninstalling the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC and reinstalling it, disabling and enabling it, restarting, running antivirus, and ensuring everything is updated on my laptop. Nothing is working, there is no audio from my built in speakers at all.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I can no longer edit user account information. The following options do not work:
Add or Remove User Accounts
Create an Administrator Account
Create an Account
Create Standard User Account
Turn Guest Account On / Off
All the options appear, it's just when I click on them nothing happens?! I'm logged in as Administrator, I even unlocked the hidden Administrator account and am still running into the same issues. As far as answers go all I can find is the typical, "do a system restore", "reinstall Windows", crap like that. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
I have a Dell Dimension with 5150 with 2 Gig of RAM installed running Win7 64-bit and has been running it a couple of years. All of a sudden now it allows one to login, but after a few seconds the screen goes black and the K/B and mouse stop responding. The power light on the monitor goes from green to amber and the PC keeps running.
If I boot the PC up and not login, it will run forever. I can remote in to the PC at this point and it works fine. The PC is mainly used by a user who remotes into if from a branch office, so that works out ok. This user comes into the office on Thursdays though and today we discovered the problem.
I can also boot the PC into safe mode and it will run forever. Only when I log in regularly at the PC does it "lock" up on me. Once that happens I have to power it off and turn it back on to get it to work again.
I checked to see if anything new was installed...nothing. I checked the latest updates installed, which was 09/20/12. I uninstalled one of the security updates to see if that had an effect...nada.
I've checked the Dell website for drivers. They of course do not show any drivers for the 5150 running Windows 7, but as I said before this PC and at least five others here at the office have been running just fine until this problem was noticed today.
The LogIn page for Google, and many other sites, have a checkbox for staying "Logged In" for future visits (without having to enter the UserName and Password again and again).I have these boxes checked, but None of them ever work; not a single one.Is there something on my system that I have to configure differently, perhaps ?

Bottom line: Is there is a PowerShell script / command to help enumerate the permissions of the logged on user, providing a similar output to showpriv?
