I'm experiencing some problems with a second video card under windows 7 (64bit). I'm using a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX (PCI express) with 2 displays for a longer time. I now added a second card: PCI NVIDIA Geforce 6200 with a third display. It's no problem to install the second card as it uses the same drivers as the first one. Im also able to activate the 3rd display and usw it, but im experiencing some sideffects. Sometimes (quite often) the system freezes for about 20 seconds.
I just recently upgraded Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista Home premium. When I "upgraded" though I chose to completly reinstall my OS.Anyways I used to have transparency, but when I try to get that same effect it says "The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."and then when I try to troubleshoot it says "Video card driver doesn't support Aero effects" . I've tried the "Fix it" options, but that doesnt work. I just don't see how transperancy would work on vista but not with windows 7... do I seriously have to purchase a new video card?
There's a certain program that I use that needs me to run Windows in Test Mode to work correctly (to run unsigned drivers, I think). I know the program is legit because I've used it before and I know it won't harm my PC. But is there any downside to being permanently in Test Mode? Like, problems installng other programs or random system crashing? Or is it ok to just leave Test Mode enabled all the time?My system.Lenovo Y560d Intel Core i7.Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
I downloaded and installed Ubuntu and sectioned off a part of my hard drive for it. I intended to have it set up to run both windows 7 and linux together and let me choose which boot disk I wanted to use at start up. Ubuntu took over and so I read through some forums online. I can now get to the Windows 7 loading screen but it freezes there. I have my install disc and was hoping someone could assist me with getting windows 7 back. I do not care if I loose Ubuntu. I am currently sitting with the Administrator: X:windowssystem32cmd.exe from the System Recovery Options Menu with my Windows 7 Disc in the tray.
I want to view multiple windows side by side across the screen, and it kind of works, with a few issues. The first is that it never includes the window in which I am running Firefox, it will arrange every other window side by side and leave the browser window open at the original size across the whole lot. The second is I can't work out a way to say view windows side by side but exclude some - I want to snap my browser windows and a couple of other things which receive regular updates to the best possible use of the screen, but ignore windows running utilities, email, etc. Is there a way to say place some windows side by side without having to shut down and reopen the ones I'm not interested in viewing on side by side?
The third is, is there any way to specify the order in which I want it to display the windows? I get them in all kinds of random orders and even if I drag them around to be almost exactly where I want them, if I use the "side by side" they jump into different orders - I want Firefox to the left, IE to the right (they fulfil different view functions for me) and the other program in the middle. There seems to be no way for me to tell the system I want them lined up like that. Will I have to line things up on the screen manually if I want them like that? It's not always the same programs so I don't want to start incorporating commands to force them to run in certain sizes and locations.

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." First of all, I've gotten this on at least 3 different programs. Everyone who's written about this seems to think it's related to their specific program...it's not! Secondly, what I find here in the forum on the subject tells me there has been no solution...also am unable to find any on the 'net'. I think it acts like a virus and is spreading...What's up with this??? Does anyone know...? It has kept me from opening iTunes so I can't work with my iPad anymore. Certainly there must be someone knowledgeable enough to know what this is and what to do about it...right?:

I am taking an online tutorial on HTML. I like to have two windows open side by sideOne for my lessons and the other for that which I am working on. I have been sitting here for about two hours. Some times they will open side by side and other times not--most of the times they don't. One of the windows will open and fill the screen. If I restore the windows down, it might work once, but the next time it will fill up the screen. I even click on Proprieties on the IE icon and choose to open minimized. That didn't help.I've been to goodle looking at information on using Windows Snap and that doesn't seem to work. If I right-click on the task-bar and select, "Show windows side by side" it doesn't work--except for a few times it will.
I've tried nearly everything possible. I've tried a sfc /scannow (CBD log is below), I just ran a chkdsk.exe, reinstalled Visual C++ and nothing has fixed it. I've also tried reinstalling the program. What else can I do? I cannot use a Windows Installer Disk as I don't have one as the company installed Windows for me and I never got a disk.I also don't have a CD large enough to put the .iso on it. I made a Windows Repair Disk but I can't seem to be able to boot from it, my BIOS is that of a Gygabite 990x Mobo.
I got a passive 3D monitor for Xmas and whilst the sales are on i want to get some good games that can make the most out of it.What games output either Side by Side/top and bottom or Interlaced 3D? Ive looked in the settings of a few recent games, some of them mention 3d but turning it on still outputs a 2D picture to the screen..
I have two texts which are the same only in two languages.I'd like to create a document that will show the texts side by side.Is there a way to do that in Office or in another environmentCurrently, the texts are in PDF format, but I could convert them to any format that will enable me to do the side-by-side merging of the documents.
I have Office 2007 installed on my computer, and have just acquired Office 2010. Is it possible to install both products side by side as it were before I get rid of 2007?
I have problem running any executable file, including opening zip files.
I have uninstall Norton Internet Security came with the Lenovo laptop, and install Avast free antivirus, everything fine after installation. But today when I start the laptop, all executable files cannot start, such as IE, Adobe, MS office, anything with .exe, and .zip. Error message is:
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more details."
I google a bit, one suggestion is to re-install the Visual C++ re-distribution, but the exe file cannot run, therefore re-installing is impossible.
There is another suggestion to reset the default file association for exe, tried that but no difference. Couldn't find any other instance the same, look like my problem is more serious than other.
Yesterday I got a game someone I know (but not in contact with) programmed back in 2007 in C++.When I try running it I get this error message:I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.I tried running it with compatibility settings of Windows XP, but when I did that I didn't get anything... no windows popped up, not even the error.
I have built them formatted them, fixed them added components many many times...This is my issue, Internet explore won't open....well it opens and I get a ap crash notification. I take out both of my different videos cards and use internal video and it does not crash. The problem is this is my living room movie file player and the video cards make a huge difference....I also need explorer as well....now Chrome works but that is not what I want..
I purchased diablo 3 for my husband & my video card is not supported so he's unable to play, my computer is a HP P624 f-b desktop with a Intel GMA intregrated graphics, I am aware I need to up my power supply also, I have no idea what video card can be used to upgrade so the game is playable, not looking to spend a fortune?
PI have to use onboard sound card to have audio through HDMI output from video card. The external sound card installed is Xonar DG and it comes with SPDIF output header to be interfaced with video card. But I do not see no such header on the video card. I wonder what video card has such an interface header.
I have recently purchased Samsung RF511 notebook and I have been trying to run HD video files(mkv) and they do run but it is very laggy and stuttering occurs very often. So I looked a bit into this matter and what I have found is that the VLC player that I am using to play the video files runs of the onboard graphics card and not the nvidia 540M card that is also installed in this notebook.
Windows wont let me start some programs and games because it keeps displaying an error about a wrong side by side configuration . But the thing is i did a clean install of windows 7 x64 . Why is this happening ?
My video card is an Intel (r)856 graphics chip. There is no driver on the Intel website for windows 7. Is there any way to get this card to work. the highest resolution i can get on Win 7 is 1024 x 768. My system is as follows.
I am desperate! I recently installed windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit on my DEll Machine's. It has and add on DVI video Card Silicone Image model SIL1364 ADD N-2 I have looked everywhere including under the sofa and cannot find a driver for this card. I went to the Silicone Image site and it appears they don't make the cards or support it. From their site they very vaguely send me to Intel where I found nothing. I have 4 machines all with the same add on card.
I have a Dell Optiplex G520 and I, unfortunately, am running Windows 7 on it. Since installing Windows 7 I have had problems with my video card. Certain websites will not recognize my video card or say it's outdated. However, I had no problems whatsoever while I was running Windows XP. Is there a driver I can install to fix it, or does anyone know of a good graphics card I can buy that will be compatible with both my computer and Windows 7?
