when in windows 7 i close/open or i maximize/minimize windows, they do a very nice effect.Is there a tweak for windows xp that enable those aero effects? i'm using BorderSkin but it doesn't do that.
View 5 RepliesSometimes when I start up my pc the windows seven aero effects are real slow. they are smooth and not stuttering but just mega slow. when logging in the fade out and fade in takes like 5 seconds. When I reboot, it is fixed...its random when I boot my pc. Sometimes I need to restart because this weird thing happens and another time it doesn't.

Here are the settings after restarting: I can check the 2 unchecked boxed, click OK, and the effects will start to work.

I can't think of anything new that I've installed that would do this. In fact, I haven't installed a new program in months.
[code] When I overclock my CPU the aero effects turns off about a minute later. I use AMD Overdrive software for overclocking and the tempratures are 10 degrees celsius on IDLE and 25-30 on load (playing high-res games or rendering videos) Does anyone know why the aero effects turn off, and is there a way to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if its possible to have the border effect on each side of the screen with dual monitors. Mine are only on the far right and far left, no middle as it seems logical if you have 2 monitors you might want to have 50% coved with one window and have the 2nd 50% with another window, then you could full screen a 3rd window or just have 2 more halves. but the current way it works is 2 halves then a big empty space in the middle or 2 full screens.
I love the easy and quick way to organize/resize the windows but its very inconvenient to do this manually for half of the screen.

I just recently upgraded Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista Home premium. When I "upgraded" though I chose to completly reinstall my OS.Anyways I used to have transparency, but when I try to get that same effect it says "The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."and then when I try to troubleshoot it says "Video card driver doesn't support Aero effects" . I've tried the "Fix it" options, but that doesnt work. I just don't see how transperancy would work on vista but not with windows 7... do I seriously have to purchase a new video card?

I know the program is legit because I've used it before and I know it won't harm my PC. But is there any downside to being permanently in Test Mode? I'm experiencing some problems with a second video card under windows 7 (64bit). I'm using a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX (PCI express) with 2 displays for a longer time. I now added a second card: PCI NVIDIA Geforce 6200 with a third display.It's no problem to install the second card as it uses the same drivers as the first one. Im also able to activate the 3rd display and usw it, but im experiencing some sideffects. Sometimes (quite often) the system freezes for about 20 seconds.

I have MOYELA FLV editor installed. I downloaded, edited & merged two '.FLV ' files, since one song was split and continued in separate files on the host site. The edited file is not playing on VLC player. But it plays well on MOYELA FLV PLAYER. So, if I change the APPLICATION to Moyela player for this edited file in 'PROPERTIES', all other files are also automatically changing to Moyela from default 'VLC'.So also, if I change the application of one '.PDF' file to 'ADOBE READER', all other files are also changing from my default 'FOXIT READER' to 'ADOBE READER'. How to change the application for only some files keeping others to my default? I can open individually in the chosen application, but, then I have to make a note beside each file (in brackets with the name of the file) which application opens this file.

I did a clean install of Windows 7 on the machine. Because my screen is WideScreen, at first the graphics are all large and mushy. But at this point I HAVE AERO!
Then, I installed the driver for the gfx card, which was SIS UniVGA3 v.3.85. After installing and restarting, I get the normal resolution (1280x800) but NO AERO.
I thought this was driver problem, so I downloaded UniVGA5 v5.07, UniVGA5 v5.20 (which is the driver for Windows7, according to the site), and the SiS driver update from Windows Update, all of which didn't enable Aero for me.
I am completely stumped on this. I just don't get why the heck I get Aero WITHOUT driver, but no Aero with drivers.
I only have 2GB ram at the moment, but a 64bit capable processor. I'm considering installing Windows 7 64bit just for After Effects CS5. Would this be stupid? Would I notice any performance drops,
View 7 Replies View RelatedAt some point during my usage, the effects for minimizing, closing, opening, and maximizing get turned off by Windows. I'll be enjoying the effects until at some point... closing and opening windows become instant (like in Windows XP or older), same with minimize/maximize. I never turn these off, but windows for some reason does. What gets me is, I go all the way into system control panel and adjust those settings... they are STILL checked! I uncheck/recheck them and press apply and I get my effects back. It doesn't last forever, though... the effects eventually stop working again and I have to once again go all the way into that panel to force them to work again.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi had driver corruption (original thread HERE)The current problem is that I'm unable to use the equalizer on my audio card.I am forced to "Disable all sound effects" in order to get any sound (including the driver's test sound) to play. The sound plays fine, but this disables my equalizer.When i first built my PC everything was fine. but now, when i uninstall drivers, reboot, and reinstall drivers from the MOBO CD it is either detecting the wrong one or there is some other issue i'm unaware of. [code] i am very certain that the ATI HD Audio device used to say "RealTek Digitial Audio" or something like that. uninstalling and reinstalling drivers - or updating to the latest Vid/Aud drivers has not helped.(for those people that intend to be helpful but don't know there are instances where the video driver is actually responsible for the audio device, rather than the audio driver)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows 7 on it, about a month and a half ago. Ever since the first week a problem happens periodically, at least once a week if not more. The screen will turn black, usually flickering so I can see the mouse for a second, then it flickers black, then I see the mouse, etc. Usually the only way I can fix it is by closing the laptop and waiting, then it will go into sleep mode.I get it started back up, and all the sudden I can no longer see my desktop, or the icons in my taskbar.I can get these back by changing and saving one property on each, then everything seems to be fine. This problem is not associated with a screen saver, it happens at seemingly random times. Sometimes when I'm dealing with a new program, but sometimes when I'm simply browsing the internet. It could be connected to google chrome I guess.

The "animate windows when minimizing and maximizing" option is enabled. When I restart my computer, it will still show that it is enabled when I bring up that window but it won't work unless I re-apply it. This has nothing to do with aero and my video card driver is up to date. I also noticed this after I recently installed new rams but I don't see how it could affect it.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi booted up my comp and Aero wasnt enabled. I reinstalled my graphics drivers, it came back on. However, whenever I restart my comp, Aero disables again. so , if I reinstall my graphics drivers every time i boot there wouldn't be an issue, but thats a bit annoying. So I ran the windows diagnostic tool for aero and it told me that my desktop window manager was disabled. So I ran services.msc and found the desktop window manager in the list, only it said that hte desktop window manager was in face running and operational. [code]

View 2 Replies View Related[code] This was the error I received for many months when I attempted to play a game or watch a video through Media Player Classic.At the same time, I always got the error that Desktop Window Manager had stopped working and was closed upon start-up, so I had no access to Windows Aero et al. Basically, the errors went hand in hand with each other.Then after a while, the computer began freezing after 20 minutes of use. So now, even if I went and used Driver Sweeper to remove all old drivers for the GPU, and installed fresh drivers, the computer would freeze within 20 minutes of use. (Previously to that, a fresh install guaranteed no problems atleast for a week)I finally decided it had to be a GPU error, so I sent in the GPU for repair at ASUS. I still haven't received it back, but in the meanwhile, installed an old BFG 7800GTX I had lying around to have a temporary computer.Clearly it means it's not the GPU's fault. Is it the RAM? The Motherboard? Maybe not enough power to the system? [code]
