[code] When I overclock my CPU the aero effects turns off about a minute later. I use AMD Overdrive software for overclocking and the tempratures are 10 degrees celsius on IDLE and 25-30 on load (playing high-res games or rendering videos) Does anyone know why the aero effects turn off, and is there a way to fix this?
Just wondering if its possible to have the border effect on each side of the screen with dual monitors. Mine are only on the far right and far left, no middle as it seems logical if you have 2 monitors you might want to have 50% coved with one window and have the 2nd 50% with another window, then you could full screen a 3rd window or just have 2 more halves. but the current way it works is 2 halves then a big empty space in the middle or 2 full screens.
I love the easy and quick way to organize/resize the windows but its very inconvenient to do this manually for half of the screen.
Sometimes when I start up my pc the windows seven aero effects are real slow. they are smooth and not stuttering but just mega slow. when logging in the fade out and fade in takes like 5 seconds. When I reboot, it is fixed...its random when I boot my pc. Sometimes I need to restart because this weird thing happens and another time it doesn't.
I just recently upgraded Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista Home premium. When I "upgraded" though I chose to completly reinstall my OS.Anyways I used to have transparency, but when I try to get that same effect it says "The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."and then when I try to troubleshoot it says "Video card driver doesn't support Aero effects" . I've tried the "Fix it" options, but that doesnt work. I just don't see how transperancy would work on vista but not with windows 7... do I seriously have to purchase a new video card?
When i run an aero theme, all my text dissapears, it turns transparent, in 'my computer' and all local files. I can see through the letters and see be background. How do i get back my text so i can actually read it again? To clarify:I were setting up my desktop to my liking. i went and found my old .dream to get as the wallpaper, all was fine until i wanted to get rid of icon text. I went and disabled dropshadow, and then this happened; all text in documents goes transparent. I am clueless as to what might be the problem. I have tried to upgrade my graphics driver, i tried 'find and fix...' .. nothing..
when in windows 7 i close/open or i maximize/minimize windows, they do a very nice effect. Is there a tweak for windows xp that enable those aero effects? i'm using BorderSkin but it doesn't do that.
my Toshiba laptop screen stays black, my laptop turns on but the screen stays black, I have tried many steps and none has proved, I wonder if it has to do with a cable or is the screen that needs to be replaced.
I am currently looking a way to enable Aero in my machine. (as note, currently I am missing the Aero Glass, Aero Peek, and Aero Flip.
I did a clean install of Windows 7 on the machine. Because my screen is WideScreen, at first the graphics are all large and mushy. But at this point I HAVE AERO!
Then, I installed the driver for the gfx card, which was SIS UniVGA3 v.3.85. After installing and restarting, I get the normal resolution (1280x800) but NO AERO.
I thought this was driver problem, so I downloaded UniVGA5 v5.07, UniVGA5 v5.20 (which is the driver for Windows7, according to the site), and the SiS driver update from Windows Update, all of which didn't enable Aero for me.
I am completely stumped on this. I just don't get why the heck I get Aero WITHOUT driver, but no Aero with drivers.
i am able to turn my computer on for a few seconds but then it automatically shuts itself off after a few seconds but the thing is after letting it sit for a couple seconds it says something about how the clocks on my processor have been overclocked too high and asks if it wants me to restore them, so i do that and then the computer works fine, but then when i turn it off and turn it back on it does the exact same thing until i get that message again.i've tried manually reducing the clocks on my cpu even though they were already at stock clocks and that didnt work
system specs:
windows 7 ultimate 64bit intel core 2 quad q6600 @ 2.4ghz standard clocks 4gb ddr2-800 ram ati hd 4760 1gb ddr3
I only have 2GB ram at the moment, but a 64bit capable processor. I'm considering installing Windows 7 64bit just for After Effects CS5. Would this be stupid? Would I notice any performance drops,
At some point during my usage, the effects for minimizing, closing, opening, and maximizing get turned off by Windows. I'll be enjoying the effects until at some point... closing and opening windows become instant (like in Windows XP or older), same with minimize/maximize. I never turn these off, but windows for some reason does. What gets me is, I go all the way into system control panel and adjust those settings... they are STILL checked! I uncheck/recheck them and press apply and I get my effects back. It doesn't last forever, though... the effects eventually stop working again and I have to once again go all the way into that panel to force them to work again.
I am trying to find the audio effects settings in Win7 but haven't been able to do so.In WinXP, the audio effects settings is under the following:Right-click Sound icon in taskbar > Adjust Audio Properties > Audio tab > Sound playback > Advanced > Effects tab. Therefore I would like to know whether 1) this setting exists in Win7 and if it does, 2) where can i find the equivalent settings in Win7
i had driver corruption (original thread HERE)The current problem is that I'm unable to use the equalizer on my audio card.I am forced to "Disable all sound effects" in order to get any sound (including the driver's test sound) to play. The sound plays fine, but this disables my equalizer. When i first built my PC everything was fine. but now, when i uninstall drivers, reboot, and reinstall drivers from the MOBO CD it is either detecting the wrong one or there is some other issue i'm unaware of. [code] i am very certain that the ATI HD Audio device used to say "RealTek Digitial Audio" or something like that. uninstalling and reinstalling drivers - or updating to the latest Vid/Aud drivers has not helped.(for those people that intend to be helpful but don't know there are instances where the video driver is actually responsible for the audio device, rather than the audio driver)

My Mother board has this capability of ''unlocking'' cores on my Athlon II X3 445, from 3 cores to 4... but the problem is, it resets the number of cores everytime i restart my pc... is there any way i can keep 4 cores unlocked at any time given?
I noticed your saying or whatever it's called at the bottom of your posts. What is "overclocking"? Does it speed your system? I have a XP Pro laptop that needs speed badly. It only has 1GB RAM, and it dual boots with Win 2K Pro, a slow startup system. Tell me more about it.
I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows 7 on it, about a month and a half ago. Ever since the first week a problem happens periodically, at least once a week if not more. The screen will turn black, usually flickering so I can see the mouse for a second, then it flickers black, then I see the mouse, etc. Usually the only way I can fix it is by closing the laptop and waiting, then it will go into sleep mode.I get it started back up, and all the sudden I can no longer see my desktop, or the icons in my taskbar.I can get these back by changing and saving one property on each, then everything seems to be fine. This problem is not associated with a screen saver, it happens at seemingly random times. Sometimes when I'm dealing with a new program, but sometimes when I'm simply browsing the internet. It could be connected to google chrome I guess.
There's a certain program that I use that needs me to run Windows in Test Mode to work correctly (to run unsigned drivers, I think). I know the program is legit because I've used it before and I know it won't harm my PC. But is there any downside to being permanently in Test Mode? Like, problems installng other programs or random system crashing? Or is it ok to just leave Test Mode enabled all the time?My system.Lenovo Y560d Intel Core i7.Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
The problem came out of nowhere, I noticed my computer didn't animate when minimizing, opening, or closing a window. The "animate windows when minimizing and maximizing" option is enabled. When I restart my computer, it will still show that it is enabled when I bring up that window but it won't work unless I re-apply it. This has nothing to do with aero and my video card driver is up to date. I also noticed this after I recently installed new rams but I don't see how it could affect it.
I'm experiencing some problems with a second video card under windows 7 (64bit). I'm using a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX (PCI express) with 2 displays for a longer time. I now added a second card: PCI NVIDIA Geforce 6200 with a third display. It's no problem to install the second card as it uses the same drivers as the first one. Im also able to activate the 3rd display and usw it, but im experiencing some sideffects. Sometimes (quite often) the system freezes for about 20 seconds.
So ive been getting the black screen with movable cursor lately and have tried many a methods to remove it i tried checking in my event log for something, and this is waht it said "The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:dtsoftbus01" So what does this mean and how can i fix this?
I am thinking of overclocking my current cpu therefore I have got my self a new heatsink and fan. However I am kinda of an armature so I am worried replacing the heatsink. The only problem is that I don't have any cleaner to fully clean the old thermal paste so I wanted to ask is it recommended that one should clean it properly and if so can i use a white spirit to remove the old layer of thermal paste. Please post your suggestion or I will have to wait another few days for the alchol based cleaner
Will I actually gain anything out of overclocking an AMD 5770? What's the easiest, most trouble-free way of doing it? I'm thinking AMD overdrive in CCC and letting it automatically detect my settings.
Not sure if it helps but I can turn my fans on my case (Antec 900) up high, if that may help with heat. I've also overclocked my CPU from 3.0ghz --> 3.4ghz and it runs fine so far.
Should I overclock my gtx 550ti? and how much? would I notice a difference? How would I do this? Could you guys answer these for me? I also have a i7 3770k, and 16gb ram.Not sure about the psu how would I check?
I have windows 7 with nVidia GeForce GTX 660M I'm trying to overclock the MHz above the default setting of 10,000.But when I try to raise the MHz it automatically raises it self to 11111 and when I select "Exit And Save" It never saves. If this matters any my computer also has Intel HDGraphics that it uses when I'm not gaming, but when I am gaming it automatically switches to nVidia.
I just got into windows 7 around 2 weeks ago as almost the same time as I got my new rams, OCZ Dual Channel Gold PC2 8500-5-6-6-18. Before getting time, I've tried some overclock but it never showed in windows but right after I got them, I pushed the FSB to 266( running E5200 2.5ghz) to try to match the rams speed. My question is: Is there a reason why windows only shows it when my FSB is at 266, otherwise at 240, it doesn't show but only in CPU-Z.
Tom’s Hardware readers know all about overclocking, of course. In fact, many processor and graphics card reviews would be deemed incomplete without coverage of overclocking potential. Indeed, articles such as the System Builder Marathon series have a long history of specifically valuing performance achieved through overclocking rather than just through stock performance.
If you already consider yourself an enthusiast, pardon a bit of background here--we'll get into the nitty-gritty technical stuff in just a second.
What exactly is overclocking? In a nutshell, the term is used to describe running a component at a higher speed than its specification in an attempt to increase performance. Various computer components can be overclocked, including the processor, memory, and graphics card. And the degree of overclocking can include anything from simply procuring small gains from an inexpensive component all the way to seeking a level of performance way beyond what could even be purchased at that point in time.
