I have an ongoing problem with my Windows 7 PC. Originally I had a Dell precision workstation 490 with 16 gig of RAM. The hard drives were Western Digital one was a 1 TB the other was a 2 TB. The precision workstation started to have a reboot problem. After 5 to 15 minutes of use it would simply turn itself off. It's not actually restarting itself it just quits like you pulled the plug out of the wall with no warning.I have a background in computer repair and after thoroughly troubleshooting the hardware decided that the old precision workstation might have a power supply problem. That power supply is no longer made so you can only buy used ones mostly from eBay. I decided that I would buy a new computer and swap out the hard drives video card and other hardware. Before I switched out the hardware I may an image file and recovery disks so that I could reinstall Windows 7 back into the new computer. I thought this would cure the computer from turning off.
I bought a new motherboard, new power supply, new Pentium four Ivy Bridge processor. I swapped over the drives and video card then installed the drivers for the motherboard and reinstalled the hard drive from the image. Seemed to work well but my computer dropdead problem came with the old hardware.I performed a in-depth VirusScan using Microsoft security essentials software. I did the complete scan are the in-depth scan and did find two Trojan viruses that were really nasty on the hard drive. These viruses were quarantined and then removed from the hard drive. Also I removed several older programs that I either don't use anymore are don't like. I have searched through config MS for a potential problem. But I don't see any problems there. I've found a program on the Internet that monitors the boot up and shows you what services are devices or whatever has been loaded to your system. It seems that the operating system loads over 2 million services a lot to shift through. I have gone through a lot of this checking out what I do not understand with the Internet. I really don't see anything that could be causing this computer just to turn off after about 5 to 10 minutes sometimes 15. Once it does turn itself off and this is the tricky part I can restart it and it will run the rest of the day without fail are causing me problems just after you turn it owns when it falls down.
My computer just shut itself down on its own last night.Upon restart all I get is an HP screen that says hit esc. to go to startup menu, and it takes me to a screen with like 5 different options. If you don't hit esc at the beginning it goes to a black screen with a white line looks like a cursor line.

I am using Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit system and have no problems with anything else. When the download from CNET ended, I got an error msg. saying the download failed. So, I opened up VLC Player, checked for updates, got the notice that a major update was available and downloaded it. When the download completed, VLC Player crashed and asked if I wanted to send in a crash report. I clicked on "Yes" and immediately got a new popup window saying that it failed to reach the FTP server.

When I boot normally, the Startup repair starts running and says it cannot repair the computer automatically, same thing happens when I try to boot into safe mode. I've tried using last known config., and I must of turned off the system restore at some point because it states that there are none to revert back to when I try that. I looked through the Startup Repair Diagnosis and repair details and states root cause found and its these two files.

The pc is about 3 years old.For the past 7-8 days, my computer is randomly restarting or freezing up. The problem persists till I restart it 3-4 times. Then it functions properly till the time it is shut down. On checking Event Viewer I saw that one of the reasons for the problem is given as 'The Network List Service service depends on the Network Location Awareness service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start". Two other reasons which are also there quite a few times are "DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service WSearch with arguments in order to run the server" and The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: AFD, CSC, DfsC"I have also noticed that after the first restart, the PC freezes even in the OS selection screen. All seems to be fixed after the 4th restart till the time I shut down. I am using Kaspersky and it is about to expire in a few days. If I remember correctly, the problem started on the day Kaspersky first giving reminders about renewing license. Can these be connected?

Booting in windows takes around 4mins. general performance of pc is very low after installing win 7. I have updating drivers through windows and everything seems updated.

I could use my Windows 7 for exactly 1 hour then it stops responding which leads me to restart.After restart, I get an error of boot manager corruption so I have to use Setup disc to fix startup issues since this option won't show up the second reboot.
1) Checked the cables inside
2) Resetted CMOS to default
3) Restored Win7 to an older (working) version using Acronis

I have a dv7 notebook with Win 7 Home Premium installed on it. Everything is running fine, except a couple of days ago the notebook began to take too damn long to boot up when restarting or just when powering it on.
I noticed it gets "stuck" on a black screen, just like a blank DOS screen, for about 2 minutes before booting up Windows.
I have tried downloading new BIOS from HP website, resetting the BIOS settings, changing the boot order but nothing really works. It always stays on the black screen for around two minutes and then Windows boots up normally. No text is shown, nothing at all.
I got a sony vaio windows 7 64bit home premium. The problem is, pc too slow to start up. It takes about 15 to 20 mins or more.. and it's always have "not responding" in the upper left corner of the monitor.. I can't use my ms word to do some typing job co'z its pauses 5secs every time.

The battery works fine and the computer turns on (power light comes on and fan spins), but the screen stays completely black. There are some media buttons near the screen that are touch sensitive that should light up when touched, but they don't. I tried resetting the RAM once and that worked as it turned on booted and ran fine, but it quickly over-heated and turned off abruptly. I let it cool and the whole not booting problem came back, and now the resetting-the-RAM trick doesn't work any more. I would appreciate any help as I am starting school soon and need a computer.

Before this I have never had this problem so I dont know if its because of an update or maybe a driver issue im not sure. Recently whenever I restarted my laptop windows stops working. I get the message "The application is not responding. The program may respond again if you wait". I end the proccess and sometimes it reloads (and if it does it just goes throught the same thing again) or just seems to freeze up. I can run the system in safe mode just fine. I have done virus and malware scans to make sure it was not something from that. View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to solve my problem with "Not Responding" browser. My browser is Mozilla Firefox 18.0.1 (latest as of this date). When I browse using it, it starts normally but after a minute or two, the browser starts to "hang" and above the browser window, a "Not Responding" message shows up after the Mozilla Firefox name. This makes my PC slow down, and even opening the Task Manager takes a minute to show. But, if I wait, it will return to running status. It just too annoying to have this problem everytime I do browsing. I already uninstall and reinstall the browser but problem persists. I don't know if Mozilla Firefox is the problem, I have some doubt because I use this a long time before this problem occurred.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 not booting! I have a Medion Laptop and it froze so I forced it off. Now when I load it in any mode (safe mode freezes after avg file) It will go to a black screen or a 0xc0000009 I/O error message. I've run it in start up repair and there aren't any system restore points available and start up repair took 17 hours before I decided to turn it off! My hardware doesn't make any strange sounds and my bios recognises my Hard Drive. Luckily, there's nothing important on the laptop so I don't mind if we have to reset it to factory settings as I have the Windows 7 installation disc as well!
