I frequently use numbered indents but have to adjust the indent each time in a new document by right clicking against the number, adjusting the indent, and then clicking OK. How can I fix the indent to a required distance so that it is the same for every new document without having to adjust each time. In XP this was a simple exercise - but I have yet to find it in 7.
View 2 RepliesI was loading up my computer I noticed it was loading EXTREMELY slow today. Slower than usual when its start to desktop speed is usually 20 seconds. Steam was downloading something, and I tried opening up Chrome as well, with Skype too. My computer usually runs all of these fine on startup as well. My computer also ended up freezing and I had to hard shut down my computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently got a new computer laptop with Windows 7 and the first thing I noticed that the screen is much brighter (and maybe more saturated) than my previous laptop (with Windows XP). First I thought it was my laptop, but then I saw an other computer with Windows 7, and the screen there is very bright too. I searched the net and I see that there are more people complaining about the brightness on Windows 7.I understand that I can set the screen brightness, but it seems like a fact that the "default" brightness on Windows 7 is way brighter than on Windows XP. Some people are probably accustomed to this, but to me it's too much. I can decrease the brightness with the laptopl's controls on the keyboard, but I think that's not the way to go - I think I should look at the Windows 7 configuration. I could go to the ATI Catalyst, but is there an other way? Is the Calibration tool the only option?

Often with games that have in-game voice chat capability, you'll notice that they turn your microphone level up to 100. A small thing really, but sort of annoying when you have to revert it back, even though most of the time it's just once.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo Windows 7 has a feature that will auto-adjust the volume during video chatting. Seems like a good idea but in reality it just brings down the volume to a point to where I cant even hear the person. I have done some research on this but everything I could find said to go to Sound Settings -> Communications Tab -> and check the box that says "Do Nothing".I did this but it had no effect on Live Messenger. I downloaded Yahoo Messenger and it doesn't have this audio problem. I would much rather use Live Messenger because the video quality is MUCH better than other video chatting programs but I cant seem to get passed this problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy keyboard has been not working properly. After 1 automatic update from Windows in October, I was unable to use my keyboard or the touchpad unless I went to the keyboard function window and adjusted the blink speed of the cursor. Afterwards, I could at least type.
I have since deleted the driver and reinstalled it, rather it was reinstalled automatically on restart. It has given me use of the touchpad, but now some of the buttons are not associated properly. I intend to type an L and a 3 comes out.
Is there any "modeline" equivalent for Windows 7? I want to set the pixel clock rate. When I run at 1680 X 1050 60 Hz refresh the pixel clock is 119MHz. When I switch to 120 Hz refresh it goes to 166MHz. Assumed it would just use the second link in the Dual Link DVI to double the bandwidth. I assumed the Hsync and Vsync signals would be twice the rate, but with 2 pixels per clock I assumed the pixel clock would remain at 119MHz. Any insight? (nVidia Quadro5000)

So I've not long migrated from XP to 7 and I've noticed that every time I watch or stream audio my Adobe Flash Player 11 which I like to set to 50% in Volume Mixer jumps up to 75% which makes the audio playback distorted & poor sound quality.
How do I get it to stay at 50% ? Usually I do like to set volumes to 75% which is what I've got my Realtek Device set to but Adobe crackles and sounds bad at 75% so I have to set it to 50%
With my Windows 7 Pro 32bit laptop(fully updated) I have issues with copy and paste. When I copy text from a file/document and then paste it into another file/document I have one of three things happen. One it will copy the text correctly, though if I press enter to go to a new line its as if the clipboard was emptied because I cannot paste again, two it will not paste anything as if I didn't copy before, or three it will paste a screenshot of what is currently on my screen into the document.If it does copy and paste correctly then when I open a new file or folder, the clipboard will empty so I can't paste the same thing into two different documents unless both documents were open when I fist copied the text.This issue also occurs whe trying to copy/cut files and move them to a new/different directory(if the paste location is not already open then the clipboard appears to empty).

First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.
A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)

I set a restore point 2 days ago manually. Today I have found it has been deleted and I may have to reformat because of this.I set my drive to hold 1.15gb in size for restore points. The current restore point is a mere 200mb yet it STILL decided to delete the old ones. Previously I've checked only to find 0 restore points despite the settings being adequate.It seems restore points simply don't work on my OS. They show up for a handful of hours and are automatically deleted (even the manually made ones).

The microphone has recently become stuck ON so that all room noises are picked up and played through the speakers, even when Skype is not running (it's not set to open at Startup and I always quit when I've finished using it). Lifecam was in Startup so I disabled that but still have the problem; I checked it hadn't re-inserted itself in Startup - it hasn't.The change may have occurred after I opened the LifeCam's own application to check lighting for the video image. I'm sure there's a simple solution (i.e. so the camera mic is turned off when the device is not in use) that does not involve uninstalling/re-installing - I want to be able to fix this if/when it happens again.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi've installed Windows 7 severeral times now.whenever I use the advised install procedure for having the /users store on a secnd disk .....(during Windows 7 install)the profiles get corrupted and I get thrown back to temporary profiles.I detect no other install problem.These systems are multi user systems, so the user space isgetting rather big (unacceptable to be on the system disk)the procedure is straight forward and I can not find any error in the profileList....Clearly I have the SID.BAK profiles every time in the registry ...But however I repair I always get the error back This problem makes windows 7 as a whole unusable (CRAPPY PROFILES)Is there a way to really get rid of this problem .....ps: I run my secondary �SERS disk on: (BRAND NEW INSTALL)-the same physical disk ....... disk latency can not cause the problem -On a different physical disk (other setup/but fails as well)-32 bit 64 bit same problem

Now I want to permanently disconnect that mapping. I have tried:
1) Disconnecting in Windows Explorer
2) NET USE /PERSISTENT:NO
3) NET USE Y: /D
The drive disconnects no problem, but when I login again, the mapping is back. How do I get rid of this mapping PERMANENTLY?
The annoying notice that pops up to tell me i've plugged or unpluged a device into the audio jack is on the screen all the time, just flicking from plugged to unpluged.

1. Click Start>All Programs>Windows Update
2. Click Change Settings>Use Pulldown to set to "Never Update this Computer (Not Recommended)"
3. Click OK
All is good for about a week, Then some entity turns back on updates to "Download and Install Updates Automatically" and User Account Control is turned on to Full Protection.
I did not make these changes on my own. I have tried using the Group Policy Editor, nogo
