I'm adding a third disk to my PC and am unable to get to a point where Win 7 recognizes the hardware with a drive letter. The Device Mgr says there are three hard drives attached and the Storage Controller tab recognizes the Marvel 91XX chipset and says the driver for the Sata III Ports is installed.

I have a brand new set up that is running windows 7 64 bit on a ASrock H61M-GE, supports UEFI (not sure if it is automatically enabled) with a 3TB hdd that is the boot drive. There are no other hard drives available on the computer. Windows has only recognized 1.99TB of the drive in the OS, the other 7XXGB are unallocated. I would like this drive to be in "one piece" and be booted from. How should I go about making this work?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo i burned an .ISO Windows 7 ultimate ( 64 bit ) right now im running on ( 32 bit ) I can't install directly trought dekstop because i get this error "this installation disc isin't comaptible with your version of windows.." So i tried to boot with installation disc, after "setup is loading files" or something, i just get a windows 7 start up screen no letters or anything it just stays there. Only the cursor blue wheel thingy spins for few seconds. I tried different installation files.

When I got home I tried the disk in my ps3 and all the pictures were there I then tried it in the e drive of my pc but it doesn't recognize the disk at all. I have since tried it back in the ps3 and now that doesn't recognize it either. Am desperate to recover the pics??

View 3 Replies View RelatedI will try to explain this.First i have Asus laptop N75sf and it comes with two hard disks Seagate ST 9500423AS each 500 gb.The one i use for storing documents movies etc. it is not recognized.But i can use the laptop because the other one is good and there is my windows installed.When i turn on my laptop the hard disk makes some noise more than usual but after a while it stops.Sometimes my laptop freezes completly and i cant move my mouse nothing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy external HDD (A WD 2TB My Book) just up and quit on me while I was using it today. My computer was no longer recognizing it, and I could no longer access my files. My computer still acknowledges it under drivers however, and it claims all the drivers are up to date and that the device is working properly. I tried going into to Disk Management to see if I could do anything from there, but it isn't even recognized there. There is however a Disk 1 but it is unknown and not initialized. I'm assuming this is my external HDD since its the only external disk I've used on my computer. When I tried to initialize it, it failed due to an I/O device error although the error prompt didn't refer to any specific problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 3 internal drives. Drive C has Windows 7 installed. Drive F I use as a backup. I'm trying to install Windows Server 2008 on Drive E. Drive E has been formatted, shows up in Windows Explorer, takes data, etc., but it does not show up as an available disk for the install process. The other 2 show up as install options but not Drive E. I've unplugged, rebooted, unplugged Drive F, booted from CD, and the drive will not appear but appears in Explorer.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently backed up about 500gb of recent work onto an external drive so I could clean my PC inside and out. I gave it a clean install of windows 7 and when it comes time to get my work of my external, the drive cannot be recognized and requires a reformat.It was working perfectly fine and I surely did not format the drive into a RAW file system. I tried plugging into my laptop running win8 and still the very same issue. I plugged it into a mac running the lastest mac os 10 and I can browse all my folders and see the files but I can't move/copy or open them. But at least I know all is not lost.

I wanted to upgrade to this larger, faster HDD and replaced it into my notebook and attempted to install Windows 7. During setup it stopped and gave the error 0xc00000e9 for "unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive ......".
I tried installing Windows XP and it gets to a blue screen to choose a Repair of Windows or a fresh install. Choosing either one returns a blue screen that says system can not find a Hard disk connected.
I put this drive into an enclosure and formatted it in another computer. Also it is recognized in BIOS. I'm running BIOS version 77.08 if relevant.
We had an external USB drive with tons of media files on it connected to computer A running Windows 7 Pro SP1. The drive was safely removed and connected to another computer that was running Windows XP Pro 2002 SP3. I was told that the drive was not recognized in XP and that it was disconnected (I cannot say for sure "Safely") and returned to the Windows 7 computer. Once the drive came up I get the following:
K: is not accessible. The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable.
I know every drive fails eventually and I'm not sure how old this drive is. Any utilities to use to try and repair the file structure. I have only tried rebooting the Windows 7 computer and that did not change anything.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Zotac 570 gtx connected via HDMI cable to my Asus VE258 LED monitor.I've had this video card and monitor setup working before with the exact cable, card and monitor.Something changed in my system where the monitor is no longer recognized for what it is. When i go into my Nvidia control panel under change resolution 1.Digital Display, 2. DVI-PC Display - Resolution 1080p 59 Hz. There is no DVI cable plugged into the computer and the monitor is set on HDMI input. When i go to my Audio playback devices, the HDMI connection does not show up at all, even as disabled or disconnected.When i go to play a game (Diablo 3, Skyrim, Farcry2) The game either doesn't open (skyrim) giving me the error that resolution is not recognized (but then does not give me any resolutions to choose from in the options menu) or will play (Diablo 3) but is stuck on extremely low resolutions with only 2 options.
Here's what i've done. Contacted Zotac and had them send me the most recent drivers for the video card. Uninstalled originals and re-installed the new ones. Contacted Asus (they say its not the monitor as long as its set on HDMI input) I am unable to find a driver that will make my computer (Windows 7) recognize the monitor for what it is. Zotac failed after their attempt with the driver and told me to RMA the card. So i did... i waited a month.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI managed to add a wireless network profile to my IBM lenovo T400 laptop which runs on Win 7 OS. However I am not able to see it listed in the list that apperas when I click on the wireless transmission icon on the bottom right of the screen.
I can confirm that the 'wireless radio' button in the said laptop is turned on and is able to see other wireless networks in the vicinity. I can also confirm that the particular wireless network is actually functioning as I am able to access it from my Win XP machine.
In the WinXP machine, my security type is 'WPA2-PSK', I am not able to find the same option in the Win 7 machine, so I selected WPA2-Personal. I also tried playing the with the other 'Security Type' options in the Win 7 machine, but nothing solves the problem.
I noticed this a few days after having to restore my drive from a True Image backup.Running Win 7 Professional.I currently have 5 "recent" programs listed in my Start Menu (not pinned). I have Properties set to show 15 recent programs. When I run a program from the Start Menu (not the "recent programs," but the full list) or from Explorer (navigate to program and double-click the exe file), the program does not get added to the list. The only recently run programs being added are ones I run from Desktop shortcuts. I know this is not normal behavior; my laptop, also running Win 7 Professional, adds recent programs regardless of how they're launched.

View 6 Replies View Relatedy motherboard Asus P8Z77-V LX can handle up to 32 GB of DDR3 1600mhz.I did do a "memtest" on all of my 16GB DDR3 1600mhz, 10 passes, 10 hours and no errors. I had my original 4 GB still in the computer as I had to remove the other ram to install Windows 7. Once windows was installed I ran it with just the 4 GB for a few days to make sure everything was working which it was. So I then re-installed the remaining 12 GB of ram and then right away windows explorer kept crashing. I removed the 12GB I just put in and reinstalled each stick separately with the original 4 GB so each time there was 8 GB of ram installed with no problems at all.So what gives ???Is there a default setting somewhere that is limiting my memory?

The router works fine, I've connected my phone , Xbox, and laptop with no issues. My upstairs computer in the other hand I can not connect. It asks for my password and does not connect. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having some problems running a USB hardlock key over a Windows XP Mode virtual machine.
If I select the hardlock from the list of devices, it works ok and the app that uses the hardlock works great.
But if I try to run the application from the Start menu of the host system (Windows 7) as Windows XP Mode, the application does not detect the USB Hardlock key (though windows 7 does).
As far as I have worked through it, it would work if I could just manage somehow that when running a virtual machine, the USB hardlock key was loaded automatically. I don't need that USB hardlock key for any Windows 7 application.
Any idea?
I'm being forced into an upgrade because my last machine was getting old and slow and was infested with viruses.
One of my guys is recommending setting up a non-admin user account for the every day use of the laptop so that any undetected Trojans don't have admin rights if they embed themselves. Do you guys think this is even worth it? Or is simply keeping UAC turned ON, will be enough with an admin account?
