View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is an MSI Gx660, running windows 7 64bit with 12gb ram.The laptop is only 1-2months old and My harddisk has very little files with about 205gb free on the C drive.
After using for a long period of time like 6-7hours, I would usually put my laptop into hibernate mode. When I click hibernate, the screen turns black but even after 20mins the power button including wifi and other lights doesnt go off, which I have to force shutdown by holding the power button. Even sleeping the laptop after 6-7hours does the same issue, unable to go to sleep(indicated by the blinking power button)
The wierd thing is that if I use the laptop for about 2 hours or less, I am able to fully hibernate or sleep, which I tested a few times.
I have recently notice that my laptop has the following issues:- Doesn't follow power option settings (shutting off the monitor, go to sleep on timeout, etc)- Doesn't turn on the screen saver. Previewing the screensaver turns it off in about a second (even if my hands are off the mouse/keyboard).- Windows 7 Projector Connection screen (WinKey+P) goes away after a second or so after bringing it up- Some windows open in background (for example, Picasa image viewer opens windowed in the background instead of fullscreen in front as it used to) From what I understand based on some light Googling and vague leads, there is some sort of interrupt happening that makes the OS think it is being actively used. Unfortunately I am not sure how to pinpoint and solve the issue from here on, so therefore I turn to this forum for help. Some notes about stuff I tried and know about this issue:- This must have happened in the past week or two. I do not recall installing any new software and the only updates that passed my memory were Windows Updates.- Checking Task Manager doesn't reveal any suspicious processes to me.- Some sources suggested this could be a faulty Logitech driver. I own a Logitech mouse and keyboard combo.
Something to consider, I guess? Specs:- Windows 7 32b SP 1, up to date- AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58- 2GB RAM- 250GB HDD- ATI Radeon Xpress 1150- Connected devices: LAN, Logitech Alto Connect Notebook Stand, Logitech S520 Keyboard + mouse that goes with that kit, USB external drive, VGA monitor, line-in running into the microphone port to play sound out of the laptop speakers
When I plug my acer "Expire Timeline X" To my TV HcMi Cable, there is no sound transfer with it.Windows7, 500g, intel i3 350m processor. 512mb dedicated graphics

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed many users are having this or a similar problem w/ shutting down or computer won't turn off completely, then restarts by itself! It has to be a hardware problem, but I haven't been able to find a definate solution to this prob which is plaguing my new computer and another one.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI try to power down (Shut down) my Win 7 PC and it (screen) goes dark but fans are still running. Its like it's only half off. I had this problem once before just after my change from 32 bit to 64 bit OS. Win 7 Pro 64 bit. I researched and after much digging I found the answer. However , as with any fresh install , upgrades abound and recently , the same problem reared its ugly head once again. The problem is , I cant seem to locate the solution this time ! I seem to remember a driver or a hotfix or just a particular ms upgrade.

I over clocked my cpu from dual core to quad core but even after complete shut down by the window, cpu fan is working, cabinet LED is still on, motherboard LED is on as there is a current.
Which is totaly unusual as everything switches off automaticaly after complete shutdown in normal cpu condition.
So Windows seems to be very unresponsive, slow, and buggy on my computer I've had for about 3 years now. It's done this the entire time I've had butince school has started it's really pissing me off when I'm trying to get homework done.Anyway, it has a very slow start up process, and during this the taskbar doesn't respond nor does the desktop and other things. Then at random intervals it does exactly this (that isn't my video though). This also happens when I play a game, it just completely stops (and sometimes the sound repeats itself over and over again) and I have to wait until it becomes responsive again. Now this is a problem I've had recently: It doesn't completely shutdown either. When I hit the shut down button and go to bed, I'll wake up in the morning and it still has the blue "Shutting down..." screen. So I have to forcefully shut it down by holding down the power button for 3 seconds.[CODE]

View 4 Replies View RelatedBeen having shutdown issues for the last several weeks following some issues i was having with an SSD drive and after a few hours of some hard soul serching in safe mode boots, i figured out that its an Nvidia driver that stops the machine from powering down after i hit the shutdown on Windows 7, i've tried reinstalling old drivers as well as the latest ones but i still get the same issue, it shuts down and powers off just fine NO PROBLEM!!! when i uninstall the nvidia drivers, but the second i load them back into windows i get the same problem again, i've been trying to sort this bloody mess out for 2 weeks or more, and finally got it pined to the nvidia drivers.
Spec is : Phenom II X6 1080XT / 8GB DDR3 1333 / 2 EVGA GTX 560 Ti's in SLi mode/ 1TB 7200RPM HDD / ASUS M4N75TD Motherboard / BFG 1000WATT PSU / Using Antec DF-85 case
I've done bios settings and cleared the bios completely, nothing is overclocked, everything is at factory defualts, i've tried updating the bios , and i've also disabled the SLI mode and nothing effected it, and also done several install of windows. One last thing, it shurts down and turns off perfectly fine in safe mode.
The IEE host bus controller in device manager tweak doesn't work, it doesn't matter if the power saving box is checked or not.
my mothers laptop (HP-2133 *Large Battery*) just stopped working. There have happened a couple of things, so I'll tell it one by one:- My mother turned on (From hibernation) her laptop one day, and the screen was green.:My thoughts: I thought that it might be the graphics card that had some kind of error on start up, so I just turned it off and on again. Then it ran like it used to. A few hours later the laptop had these random freezes, which made "Force-shutdown" the only possible way of rebooting.:My thoughts: I thought that this was perhaps a virus, but I never got the chance to run our Anti-virus (Kaspersky Antivirus PRO)- Now (two days later), when she/I tries/try to turn on the laptop, nothing happens... The laptop powers on, but doesn't actually run the HDD, or even the motherboard for that matter (Doesn't run the BIOS).
:My thoughts: I noticed that the only light that's on, is the power-light, (The HDD doesn't even blink). I also noticed that the screen doesn't even turn on, but the fans actually run (Most likely because the laptop is powered on)So I can imagine that the motherboard is dead, and in these couple of days, it's shown me that this is it's last days to live. But before I rip it apart and save the value parts, and scrap the rest, I would like to ask you guys for your opinion..
I've read many threads about Acer laptops, but I couldn't turn on my Wi-Fi adaptor. I've got Acer TravelMate C110 and when I installed Windows 7 (Home Premium 32bit) I can't turn on my Wireless Network. I've installed Launch Manager from Acer's site and it says that Wireless is always on, but it really isn't :/ The external button don't work either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOk so when I had XP I would always use hibernate and only about once a week I would actually reboot the computer completely. Now that I have Windows 7 I would like to do the same. But now when I click hibernate the screen goes black and everything shuts off but the computer acts like its in standby. The lights are still on and computer is running.
Once this happens I cannot get back into windows or reboot without holding down the power button to force a reset. Each time that I have done with Windows 7 boots an error saying the computer was not shutdown correctly. Anyone know why it won't completely power off when I click hibernate. I have tried it about 5 separate times and it has not worked once.
I have no information on my laptop, she wiped everything off. it will boot up with windows, but I need recovery disk 2. I have 1,3,4 but cannot find disk 2. so I would like to know where I can get this one disk for free ???
View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently both my PC and Laptop have started to freeze intermittently when surfing the net. By freezing I mean that the computer becomes completely unresponsive with the screen stuck on whatever page I was on at the point of the freeze - the mouse cursor stops moving, the clock stops ticking, no response to control-alt-delete, etc. Nothing I can do but power down and re-boot. I have tried just leaving the PC for an hour but it does not recover.
This happens regularly but intermittently and at random intervals. I can rarely go 30 mins of surfing without a freeze. On my laptop the fan really ramps up when this freeze happens - as if the CPU usage has gone up to 100%. However, the on screen CPU gage gadget does not change as the whole screen is frozen. When I log back in there is nothing in the windows event logs for the time of the failure.
The PC is on Windows XP and the laptop is Windows 7. I use a mix of IE9 and Chrome on the laptop and IE8 and Chrome on the PC. The freeze happens using any of these browsers. The only thing that I can see that the PC and Laptop have in common is that they are using the same router (PC via cable and laptop via wi-fi) and I have Norton 360 and Norton Family installed on both. How I can track down the cause of this issue? (Disabling Norton Family makes no difference.) Any other logs or logging tools that I could use?
Today when I turned on my laptop, suddenly, there was a message that my battery has problems so the computer might shut down suddenly. I tried different strategies, like uninstalling the battery driver, or letting the computer completely die. When it turned off itself at 6%, I turned it back on, and it was at 2 minutes battery life. Then in a few minutes, it said 4 minutes battery life for 6%. Now, it's passed an hour, and it says 3 minutes, but changes sometimes to 1-4 minutes. The battery meter is completely wrong, and I don't know what to do since it is closing the computer way too early. I'm still not sure what the problem is.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy laptop dies if I am on the battery and the battery percent gets between 25-40% then it will just completely shut off. It never used to do this for the first 8 months i've owned it. Now it does it every time I'm on the battery. Also, right before this started happening I was getting GREAT battery life out of my battery, so I don't personally think the battery has gone bad, however you may feel different!
