My boyfriends laptop stopped working and when we tried to restart it we chose the option which was recommended to restart it in the mode which could try and fix the problem. However when we selected this option it loads no further than the blue windows start up screen with the little leaves on it. We tried to start up windows normally and it won't let us do this either.

Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.

My computer is and has been very slow and I haven't recently added or removed any hardware.I have checked 2 possible problems from info I found on this problem being I've located msconfig, boot, advanced options, max memory is "unchecked" and have checked my bios which do show the correct amount of memory but I can not enable "memory remap" because bios does not support. I've added a resource monitor screen shot below.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo one evening my laptop randomly restarted itself and upon logging back in I found that I could not run almost any of my programs (.exe files). I tried checking for anything unusual in the registry but found nothing. In task manager when I clicked a program or attempted to run it in various ways I would see it pop up for a second before it got killed.
Finding no way of fixing it online I decided I would attempt the factory restore option that comes with the laptop in the system recovery that places all your documents in a C:Backup file. But nearing the end of this an error came up saying 'setup is starting services', which says to restart the computer to continue. But I can no longer get it past this screen. I've tried rebooting it in safe mode as well.
"On the same error screen press SHIFT+F10 and it will open up a black Window. (a command prompt window) 2) In the black windows type the word "regedit"(without the inverted commas and hit enter. That will open the registry editor. In the Registry Editor.. Browse to.... HKLocal machine/SYSTEM/SETUP/STATUS/ChildCompletion, and after highliting childcompletion,on the right hand side check for setup.exe. if the value is 1 change it to 3.(by double clicking on setup.exe and changing the value shown in the box). Then close the registry editor and then also close the black window. Then click on OK for the error and the computer will restart and the installation may complete. just try it and let me know if it worked."
I tried the above and rebooted, I still get the dreaded "Setup is starting services" loop
how do i get my acer aspire to boot, on screen msg is setup is starting servives and then theres abox comes on screen and says windows could not complete installation, to install windows on this computer, restart installation, and thats as far as it goes

I tried safe mode, but it gets stuck at starting windows. I tried starting from disk, it says loading files then it goes start to the starting windows and gets stuck. A startup repair program ran a couple of times and the laptop now lasts longer while on. However, when I turn it off, it starts automatically when it is opened. I ran malwarebytes and zone alarm with no effect. I then ran RKill and it stopped 3 programs.

I am re running the malwarebytes now. I am running a Windows 7 ultimate on a sony vaio.
I own a Samsung QX410 and while I was browsing the Internet it crashed and would not start normally without crashing. So I've tried running Repair my system, even Repair my computer from my windows disk. But every time I do that it comes to a blue splash screen (with the bird, leaf, etc.) and it would not do anything. No options would come up and it would just sit there.

Boot with a recovery CD (or try Repair Installation directly without a CD) -- it hangs on the green loading bar forever.
I dual-boot Ubuntu and can get into the Ubuntu partition fine so I don't think anything is necessarily wrong with the harddrive, but the Ubuntu partition is tiny and I rarely use it and can't access my Windows files anyway.
Is there anything I can try that'll help repair whatever happened? I just want to run a checkdisk utility or something similar that'll repair whatever got botched.
