View 5 Repliesi have Windows 7 ultimate x64 and the drivers to run my ATI Radeon 4870 work and have already been installed when i switched to windows 7 from windows vista.
I try to download the control center where i can overclock and change settings for my PC and whenever they start to install i get the blue screen and my comp restarts... What can i do?
p.s i did go to windows 7 x64 on the drivers list on the ATI wedsite and didn't accidentally click another OS

I have a laptop with a VGA output.I have a PC which has 2xDVI outputs. I also have a VGA -> DVI output cable.
I can connect the 2 just find BUT how can I view the output of the PC to the laptop? So instead of having another monitor/display unit, I want the laptop to be able to see the output from the PC as if the PC were connected to a display unit.
I was installing a long list of Win7 updates on my PC when the display abruptly shut off during installation. I know there was an update for the Intel integrated graphics chip somewhere in that mess of updates. The PC has that integrated GPU plus a GTX660 (with fully updated drivers). I didn't want to restart the PC, but I am unsure of what to do next.

As the title suggests, it waits untill after the loading screens to output onto the monitor, only showing a picture when it reaches the login screen. This posses a problem if I wish to enter into safemode or to work with the BIOS. Just thought that I would research this before it becomes an issue
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed an ATI Radeon 9550 HD display driver to my computer, Windows XP SP2 32bit . Before that, my computer was running in VGA mode only. But though, I have downloaded the driver and installed it with the Catalyst Control Center. After rebooting, what I got is a black screen after Windows XP boot screen. I shut down the computer and now I saw the classic WELCOME with the blue background... but nothing more. After rebooting the PC for about 5 times, I got past the WELCOME stuff and to the desktop. As I watched the Device Manager, It says the I Have Installed the ATI Driver and its secondary Driver. But though, if I right-click my desktop and go to Display Properties>Settings>Advanced>Display Adapter I saw that there was no Display Driver and I was still running in VGA. VGA sucks because you can't play any 3D games or even Google Earth won't work. Now everyday I start the PC, I have to reboot about 5 times untill I get it working. It's been almost a month since I'm doing this and it caused me alot of nerves and boredoom.But though, sometimes I think the ATI works since I boot the PC, then I see the black screen and hear that start sound like when you XP starts. I managed to acces the Narator and saw that PC was actually working, except was like blind. I am looking for some fix tips and reply ASAP.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI successfully installed the driver on my old machine for a Radeon 9200 by installing in XP Mode.
However, on my new machine which has a X1900XT, there isn't even a "Display Adapter" listed under device manager. I have tried installing the drivers from ATI's website for Vista and XP under those modes but it doesn't work.
I think I could manually install a driver if it would let me see a "Display Adapter" under device manager. Any idea on why it wouldn't show at least a generic display adapter there?
My motherboard is an Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe, maybe I need a driver to enable the PCI Express port???
I'm clueless.

So i did some research online and quite a few forums have said flash and update the gpu bios. (stuped mistake of my life) Anyway iv worked out iv put the wrong bios on and i was wondering if its possible to revert the flash, but one problem i didnt back up the bios before hand so im stuffed. I have found one online what apparently it will work but i dont know how to make a bin format file to boot with a usb stick.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI know this is going to sound like a daft question but my father has a Radeon HD 3850 x2 from ASUS and it's a great card, but we're coming stuck about the actual display resolution of the card; it being a dual link I'm some what confused as to how you would go about calculating the actual maximum display resolution of the Dual Link ports to 2 SEPERATE monitors not to one! My father is planning on running two 22" at a display resolution of 1920x1080 at 60hz and the maximum display resolution of the Dual link ports is 2560x1600 at 85hz.. I'm not sure whether the card will run both at 1920x1080@60hz
View 2 Replies View RelatedI put together a rig not too long ago and have been playing a few games with it and recently have had some major issues with the Asus ATI Radeon HD 4870 card.
The issue is that when I play Modern Warfare 2 or Oblivion the screen cuts to black and says no signal and the sounds hang and I have to do a restart to get it working again. I can play World of Warcraft for hours and have no issues.
Initially I thought it was a power issue so I upgraded from a 550w to 850w PSU. No good. I updated the video drivers to the newest ones as of 11/26/09 and still have issues. I updated the bios just incase. Still no dice.
I am almost positive that it is a graphics card issue of some sort because I put in my older Nvidia 7600 GT OC and it runs the games almost perfectly but I can't max everything out like I could on the HD 4870.
Anyone have any ideas of what it could be or what I can try to get this thing working?
I am experiencing a very disturbing issue with my newly installed ATI 4870 and my Windows 7 RC (7100). Prior to installing this card I had the following setup, which worked flawlessly.
nvidia 8800gt
intel p35 chipset in the motherboard
Samsung a656 40" LCD connected via a DVI to vga connector.
When I got my 4870, I uninstalled the nvidia drivers,rebooted, installed the latest (9.5) ati drivers and rebooted.
Then, I got a no signal in the monitor at the windows login screen.
Mind you, that when I (dual) boot in Vista, using the 9.4 drivers, everything is fine.
Things that I tried:
1. Creating a new monitor.inf file (located at the windows folder) using info from a post in this forum.- This should not make a difference, since I was using the same monitor.inf file in the same windows 7 installation, whitout any issues before I installed the 4870.
2. Changing the ATI .inf file to include only one resolution for the r7x cards 19 20 10 80 00 00 00 60- I think it sould be a refresh rate issue, since the vga port of the TV supports many resolutions, including 1600x1200 etc.
- It could also be an unsupported resolution, if the ATi driver cannot detect the monitor correctly.
3. Installing the windows 7 default ATI driver.
Things that I noticed:
1. I can login only in safe mode.
2. Low res mode (640x480) gets me to the login in screen, but as soon as I input my passowrd, I get no signal.
3. Changing DVI ports in the 4870 (it has 2)
Does anyone have any ideas?
I thought this was the best windows forum I found on the internet. Anyway. Yesterday I installed Windows 7 RC (currently build 7100) And the problems immediately start showing. If I decide to listen to some music the computer will crash after only a few minutes. It doesn't matter which program I use. Either I am using iTunes or Spotify it crashes. And I have no Idea what's the problem what so ever.
My computer has two Ati Radeon 4870HD graphiccards, and I have installed the latest drivers. I've seen some of you mention the HDMI Audio package to be the problem, but I don't know. When my computer crashes, it freezes, and the screen either go black or the picture on the screen is blured out in straight lines. Almost like a motionblur. I should mention I use two screens aswell.
When i restart the computer a bios thing shows up on my screen asking if I would like to fix something in the bios settings or just start. And then the classic "run windows normally, run windows in safe mode..." screen comes up.
Today I installed hd6850.I did a clean install with use of Driver Fusion(ex driver sweeper)And Im getting atikmdag.sys bsod when booting.I searched for atikmdag.sys in windows folder, and found 9 atikmdag.sys and 2 atikmdag.sys.mui. [URL] Can I delete this files, when doing clean install? An after cleaning with DF Im still having a lot of files wich begins with ati...sys(ATi technologies). Are they safe to delete. Im thinking, probably not. Or can I ,but not ones in amd64_microsoft-windows-w..ationservice .... folders?

I know there are a lot of solutions on the net but nothing worked.I will try different version of drivers. But first wil try clean install with drivers only, without CCC. One guy did a extended research, and found aou that, without CCC, there is no BSOD.
I'm setting up Dual Monitors on my HIS Radeon 4870 1GB GPU. This GPU has 1 x VGA and 1 x DVI output. I have two identical ASUS VW222u monitors. I have installed the latest ATI Catalyst Suite and drivers for this GPU and have Windows 7 up and running with BOTH monitors.
My issue, however, is my primary monitor (DVI output) is running at my ideal resolution of 1680 x 1050, but my second monitor (VGA output) can not run at this resolution. It is only allowing me to choose from a small specific number of resolutions, and 1680 x 1050 is not included (closest is 1600 x 1200, IIRC).
The ATI Catalyst Control Centre is telling me the primary monitor is my ASUS VW222u (Digital), which is correct, but my 2nd monitor is only described as a "Generic Non-PnP CRT Monitor", despite installing the correct monitor drivers etc.
Is this because I am running this second monitor of the VGA output? Will that cause my monitor to not be able to produce my desired 1680 x 1050 resolution? And will running it off the VGA output mean It thinks its a CRT?
recently i bought a 4870 graphic card. after installing it when i play a dvd or mpg2 files on windows media player the screen jumping like splashing. i installed K-Lite Software and played dvd on media player classic, my problem solved but in windows media player the problem is like before. what is the problem ?
( i`m using Vista SP1 X64 ) in windows 7 build 7057 x64 i have this problem too and after installing K-lite , in media player classic my problem didn`t solved. and while windows indexing files on vob and mpg2 files screen jumping again.

the display/monitor uses the generic driver for display and it is 1024×768 or 800x600 but it looks very odd it should be bigger because my screen is bigger. I have a acer monitor but is there something I can download to fix the display size?

Windows 7 behaves as though dual display is working even though monitor 1 does not display. It's the same for single display, the monitor will not work on cable 1 except at startup.Both 'Extend these displays' in Windows Screen Resolution and 'Extend' in the Nvidia Control Panel is selected. And changing which one is primary does not turn on monitor 1. I bought my VGX-XL301 in August 2007 and it cam installed with Vista home addition and upgraded to Windows 7 Professional in April 2010. I have the computer linked to my Samsung HDTV via an HDMI connection.
Everything worked fine up until recently.
I am working on the computer and then switch HD inputs to watch TV. After a time the compuiter goes into sleep mode. The next time I want to use the computer, I press a key to bring it out of sleep mode. I switch it from the TV HD input to the PC HD input but no picture comes up.
I have to force a shut down by holding in the power button and then turn on. The PC then goes through the boot up and the PC picture appears, however sometimes it takes 2 or 3 forced shutdowns to make it work.
I have upgraded the driver on the graphics card as I thought that might be the problem.
Have a new camcorder, the videos from which I wish to record on a DVD for posterity and sharing.Apparently there are several modes that my PC asks about before making the DVD.I read, somewhere, that for the "best" pix quality, you should tell it to make a "Data Disk," and not one of the picture options.

2. How can I playback the recording through a program(WMP, MPC, etc) and have it go though the mic instead of speakers? Pretty much I want the text to speech to act as my voice for a mic. I don't care if there is no speaker output while this is happening.
Windows has a feature to allow you to output your computer to your HDTV right? (Via HDMI). But I'm building my new PC in a few months and was wondering if I was to connect my PC to my HDTV via HDMI, would it output to the TV during things like the BIOS and Windows setup? Or only if I tell ti to via Windows?

I've been through several drivers, none of which worked, and I've also tried sound max, which has in fact worked, however I can't stand the little sound bar when you up or down the volume, and it's fairly unresponsive when I use the buttons on my laptop. So in all fairness, I just want the actual driver designed to work with this laptop.I do have a version of Windows 7 Home Premium, not too sure if it'd make much difference, however I'd rather not go through another OS install as I've got most of my stuff already set up on this now!I am good with computers so don't be afraid to get technical, but I just need another angle on this because it's most likely just something I'm overlooking.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi've twice installed latest drivers GeForce 285.62 Driver , i've been into nvidia control panel and then setup multiple monitors & it only detects my other vga monitor not the hdmi one, i'm using a brand new hdmi cable & can confirm i've connected it to the correct hdmi connector on my monitor, it has 2 hdmi ports and i've tried both, when i go into device manager & display adapters there is only 1 adapter that says nvidia geforce gt 545, should there be another 1 for the hdmi? i'm out of options, i even work in i.t as a breakfix engineer coming across similar issues like this but i cannot deal with this & really need some help so i'm really hoping someone will help me out here i'm wondering if its anything to do with my other hardware such as the xeon cpu? (a longshot but i've only just built this pc & never built a xeon system before & would normally go for core i5 or core i7)

I know it wasn't malware, but that's not the point Is there a way to make cmd.exe copy all it's output to a text file automatically or something similar that I could use to check back on what my system did there?I already checked google, it said there's "no way". Only with powershell, but that's not exactly what I want because I don't really do a lot of that stuff, but I'd come back to it, if nobody knows anything else.

I can get it to extend my desktop, but when i close the lid, it turns off the external monitor. I have set Windows 7 to do nothing when lid is closed. Is there anyone else with this problem?
I have an Dell Inspiron 1525, with Intel x3100 integrated graphics, if that helps.
