I was installing a long list of Win7 updates on my PC when the display abruptly shut off during installation. I know there was an update for the Intel integrated graphics chip somewhere in that mess of updates. The PC has that integrated GPU plus a GTX660 (with fully updated drivers). I didn't want to restart the PC, but I am unsure of what to do next.
View 6 RepliesI just recieved an alienware x51 desktop and I am experience a problem with trying to access setup during startup. As the title suggests, it waits untill after the loading screens to output onto the monitor, only showing a picture when it reaches the login screen. This posses a problem if I wish to enter into safemode or to work with the BIOS. Just thought that I would research this before it becomes an issue

Expected behavior from Windows Explorer. You copy a file into a folder, you want it to automatically get into order in whatever sorting order you choose. Current behavior of my Windows Explorer, when I copy a file into a folder or if I rename a file and want Explorer to update I have to hit F5 (Actualiser (in french)). Since my Windows in is french I have some difficulty to find the correct wording to conduct the search.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a computer and it had an OS issue, so after some tinkering I was able to install XP onto it, then install 7. Everything went relatively smoothly. I had downloaded the drivers and updates from HP's website for my model computer. I went through and started installing them one by one. I came across the BIOS one and it said it couldn't install it. There was also a Windows update that wanted to install, but at the same time I had already moved to the next driver, a USB controller, and that one had completed it's installation and wanted to restart. I had stopped the Windows update and then prompted it to restart the computer.
It shut down and when it came back up, it brought up a black screen with some text, that then flashed blue for a split second, then turned off. I went to turn it back on, but there is no display now. I currently have a DVI-HDMI that is plugged into my laptop, but it says it can't recognize anything (though it had been doing fine before all of that). I do not have a Windows 7 disc. I had downloaded it from the internet and mounted it using Daemon Tools lite and all went smoothly, so I don't think that was the issue. I have a feeling that something went wrong. I've tried hitting F8, 9, 10, and 12 hoping that it would enter some mode and the display would reappear, but nothing. Do I need to burn Windows 7 to a disc and try it that way?
When I press some keys, windows display incorrect both in Word, notepad, browser,etc... , such as press backspace window display '=', press enter windows display '' , click left arrow windows display ']'...I try to change region of keyboard but error still display. When I try to re-install Windows 7 professional 64bit, error un-display, all of keys display correctly. But error display again after I execute windows update automatically. So I think it is error of windows, maybe.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEarlier I was trying to fix a DCP latency issue and latencymon suggested I update my BIOS. I got the BIOS from Asrock directly. During the update I was given a BSoD and memory dump. The dump froze at 15 and I eventually turned off the computer. Upon rebooting I was unable to get a display.
So far I have reset the cmos, switched between gpu and integrated graphics, removed the gpu and other adaptors, let the computer stay off for 30min; all of which has not worked. When resting the cmos I used both the jumper switch, quick clear, and battery removal.
Dr. Debug shows no errors when starting the computer and it appears to continue cycling boots, despite the lack of error.
O.S - Windows 7 home premium x64
CPU - i5 3750k 4.2gz
Motherboard - Asrock Z77 Extreme 4
Gpu - MSI 550ti
SSD - Corsair Neutron Gtx 128gb
Ram - 2x 4gb 1600 9-9-9-24 patriots.

I thought because I had my vga cable plugged into the TV Windows Update may have become confused but despite checking for updates again it still appears there as optional.
AMD/ATI is recognized by Windows and Windows Update and there had already been a display driver update not so long ago, so I cannnot understand why I'm receiving an update for the wrong machine?
Windows has a feature to allow you to output your computer to your HDTV right? (Via HDMI). But I'm building my new PC in a few months and was wondering if I was to connect my PC to my HDTV via HDMI, would it output to the TV during things like the BIOS and Windows setup? Or only if I tell ti to via Windows?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi've twice installed latest drivers GeForce 285.62 Driver , i've been into nvidia control panel and then setup multiple monitors & it only detects my other vga monitor not the hdmi one, i'm using a brand new hdmi cable & can confirm i've connected it to the correct hdmi connector on my monitor, it has 2 hdmi ports and i've tried both, when i go into device manager & display adapters there is only 1 adapter that says nvidia geforce gt 545, should there be another 1 for the hdmi? i'm out of options, i even work in i.t as a breakfix engineer coming across similar issues like this but i cannot deal with this & really need some help so i'm really hoping someone will help me out here i'm wondering if its anything to do with my other hardware such as the xeon cpu? (a longshot but i've only just built this pc & never built a xeon system before & would normally go for core i5 or core i7)
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have a dell core 2 duo with 3gb of ram, and an ati hd4650, when i boot up, both outputs get the boot up screens, when it gets into windows, the hdmi output appears to be unplugged(not available for selection, just not there) it is worth noting that it worked fine under vista, anyways, when i switch the source on my receiver, or turn it off, as long as it is plugged in, it then gets detected, and i can modify resolution, and apparently it is outputting sound as well, i cannot verify this because the receiver is OFF, tried various versions of the catalyst drivers, and one of them worked, until i went into the catalyst center to change something and it went back to what it was doing i feel it is something wrong with the windows side or the driver, ive tried upgrading to the x64 version, ive tried different cables, different ports/plugs, it just wont work, i have no idea where to look in the registry to change when it is detected, but when i turn off the receiver or switch off of that source, the monitor flickers and the output is detected, this is frustrating because i wanted all of my home machines to be on 7, and i really dont want to go back to vista.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm out of ideas. I've been running Win 7 on this machine for more than a year without issues in updating etc. Now it will not search or update/install critical items. I'm running Symantec (even tried turning the firewall off without any success). I get an error code 80072F7C. When I run hijackthis, I get an error message that my system denied write access to the Hosts file. I proceed with the scan but am unable to produce a log file. I've included a screenshot from the windows update error as well as the error I get when trying to run hijack this.

After installing it, whenever my laptop tries to use the Nvidia card, I get a blue screen and the system restarts. I looked in installed updates to uninstall it, and it is not there. I did a system restore to four days before I installed it, and I still get the same effect. Lastly, I installed some older nvidia drivers that used to work using the clean install option, and I still have this problem.
A while back, after successfully downloading and installing some updates in the Windows Update, it prompted me to restart the computer to finish the update installation process. However, I continued to use the computer for quite some time before restarting it, and then when it tried to configure the updates on the start-up screen, it showed that it was not successful in doing so. In the past, I noticed that this would typically happen when I did not restart the computer immediately (or within a short time) after the updates finished and I got the prompt to restart. I would have to go to Windows Update and do it over again, and then upon immediate restart, it would always work properly. But this time, it did not, and I keep getting the 8000FFFF error message instead.
Also, now, every time I start the computer, it shows that it's "Preparing to configure Windows... Do not shut off computer" (presumably the updates that never got completely and correctly configured) in the start-up screen... gets to 35%..fails... shuts down (screen goes black)... restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, shuts down and restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, and finally it apparently gives up and says "reverting changes" and finally goes to the desktop.I've looked at the answers in several threads at the answers.microsoft.com forum that were started by people with similar problems, and also tried several of the Microsoft "FixIt" files on the Microsoft site, but none of them worked. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.
I had a grand vision of grandeur. I'm planning on buying a Nokia Lumia 900 running the Windows Phone 7 on it when the phone comes out soon. Being a designer, I had to design a dock to plug in the phone to charge and sync and the idea came: what if I could use my awesome stereo and my awesome Windows 7 to make the dock into an awesome home phone?
What it would be is a mic built into the dock that is connected to the phone so when someone calls me, I don't need to pick the phone up. And if I can with the Windows Phone, I can have the audio out from the call be recognized in Windows 7 as in audio input and I can have my puter's audio output to my awesome stereo to hear the call from my speakers.
The stickler is, as is with every grand vision of grandeur, can it happen? I don't know for sure what to do to get the audio out from the phone to connect with Windows 7.
I have an IR RC Helicopter that is controlled by IR transmitter that plugs into the audio out jack of my mobile phone (which runs an app that produces the audio signal, that the transmitter converts).
I've recorded the audio out of the app via the line-in on my computer. I get a nice signal that I can decode into the component information used to control the helicopter.
My problem is that when I playback the signal (via the transmitter, attached to my comps headphone jack) the helicopter won't respond.
I tried re-recording the audio of my computer by looping the headphone jack out back into the line-in (not sure if this is a good idea in terms of feedback). I can then record the signal output, which is similar to the source one but fairly distorted. Does windows 7 equalize sound output or something funny, and if so can I turn this off?

It's only started doing this recently and I've made no configuration changes whatsoever. My laptop is connected to an audio receiver via HDMI which is never turned off. When I put my laptop to sleep (usually from within XBMC) the laptop no longer recognizes my receiver as an audio output and requires a log out/in to reconnect it. Like I said earlier, this has only started happening recently.

View 3 Replies View RelatedEnglish is not my first language so I'm not familiar with the Computer Science vocabulary. I've had a Pavilion dv9700, Model # dv9819wm, for approximately 2 years. My hard drive failed and the guys at my school were able to recover 60 GB of files but most of them don't have an ordinary format. They are just saved on a folder on my desktop. They installed Windows 7, (It was Windows Vista before the failure) and I've been having problems with the coprocessor and "ethernet" drivers. Yesterday I uninstalled the "ethernet" driver and when my laptop rebooted the audio driver was nowhere, (obviously I have no audio), which was surprising since that was not the one I uninstalled. My Sound device is not shown on Device Manager either. I uploaded some applications that identify missing drivers and apparently the sound driver is the newest one available. I got on BIOS and the sound button was enabled. I went to HP's website and the only audio drivers offered for my laptop model were for OS Vista. When I try to automatically install the driver from another HP application it says something like my "Compatibility..." is not permitting a correct installation. First, what is going on? and is there any way I can get my pictures and videos from those 60 GB into a normal

How do I ensure that I am sending an 1080p signal to my TV? My TV manual states that the tv supports: 1080P 1920 x 1080P. So I know the TV can handle it.
