AMD Radeon HD 6570 Not Working With Dual VGA Displays?
Dec 29, 2011
I bought two new SyncMaster SA100 monitors that for some reason only have VGA ports on them. No problem right? The HD 6570 has a VGA and DVI output so I put a DVI to VGA converter on it. After countless hours of messing around in all the video control panel i can not get the second screen (thats using the converter) to show anything! It isn't even being detected, anyone know if this because the card just isn't able to run the converter?

For the past year, I've been using Windows Vista Ultimate and a dual display setup. Sometime during the summer, my dual display setup started not working. When waking up the computer from hibernation, one display would no longer be available (and would remain asleep?). I could move my cursor onto the sleeping display's area, but I couldn't see anything.
I replaced my graphics card but this didn't solve the problem.
I reformatted last night and am now using Windows 7 Home Premium. I haven't gotten a chance to play with dual displays since they're at my university dorm room. This morning, I fixed an issue where my USB devices would stay in hibernation despite waking my computer up. I disabled an option called "USB selective suspend setting".
Is there an equivalent for dual displays? What other hibernation options could be screwing with my dual displays? (I'll test when I get back to school.

I might not be asking this the right way, but let me try to elaborate.I have a W7 64 bit PC with an ATI Radeon HD 5570 video card. I have my monitor connected and I have a flatscreen TV that is connected to the video card through an HDMI cable. When I want to watch content through my PC on my flatscreen I have to go into Control Panel/Display and manually change the setting to dual display. Is there not a way to automatically send the signal without having to get into the Control Panel?

I've put a fresh install of Windows 7 on RC build, whenever it finished the install and had put its own version of drivers on my dual screen setup worked perfectly, but when i updated my ATi drivers to the latest Windows 7's but dual screen capabilities vanished. Both screens work fine on their own its just when i try to get them to work together i get problems,,
The screen resolution manager has both screens listed and my cursor will disappear off the right side of the screen as it would do normally on dual setup, but for some reason the other monitor isn't displaying.
Nevermind, ATi had crossfire enabled in the CCC

I've installed Windows 7 yesterday and only one of my card seems to be working as it is the only one who displays something.
The weird thing is that when I plug a monitor in the DVI port in the other card, I hear that DING song that signals that hardware has been connected but nothing shows up.
Any ideas what could possibly be the problem?
Obviously, the three monitors were working under Vista.

I have one small monitor hooked up through DVI - works fine. Then I have a Sony Bravia 42" HDTV hooked up through VGA at the same time in extended mode - the screen resolution options dont show 1920x1400, it only goes up to 1600x1200.
I'm using1360x768 now and it works but I have to zoom in on the picture. How I can I get 1920x1400 to show up in the resolution options? Seems like this should be straight forward. Messed around in the ATI Control Center with no luck. When I had vista installed, hooking up the same TV through VGA was no issue.

I know this is going to sound like a daft question but my father has a Radeon HD 3850 x2 from ASUS and it's a great card, but we're coming stuck about the actual display resolution of the card; it being a dual link I'm some what confused as to how you would go about calculating the actual maximum display resolution of the Dual Link ports to 2 SEPERATE monitors not to one! My father is planning on running two 22" at a display resolution of 1920x1080 at 60hz and the maximum display resolution of the Dual link ports is 2560x1600 at 85hz.. I'm not sure whether the card will run both at 1920x1080@60hz

I currently have it set to turn off my displays at 3 minutes of inactivity, and put the computer to sleep after 10 minutes.Sometimes, the displays won't turn off after 3 minutes, but it will then put the computer to sleep after 10 minutes while the displays are still on. More often, it will turn the displays off, but won't ever put the computer to sleep. Why wouldn't the computer go to sleep?Wouldn't any activity turn the displays back on? And so if they don't come back on, why wouldn't it go to sleep?why wouldn't the displays turn off, and then it goes to sleep?

A few teething problems with Windows 7... I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 7535G with Vista - it has two graphics cores - an on-board 3200HD for low power stuff and a more powerful HD 4570. These are controlled by Catalyst Control Center (CCC) and worked fine...
...until I upgraded to Windows 7
- Now Power Express does not seem to recognize either cards although the 3200 appears to be working. When I check the hardware section of the computer, both cards are recognized, but a fault is diagnosed with the 4500 series card - it says the card cannot start - code 10 error
The cards are supposed to switch automatically when the computer is plugged into / out of mains power.
I have downloaded the most recent versions of CCC and the most recent ATI drivers but this has not rectified the problem.
I need the 4570 card. Has anyone experienced similar / suggest a solution??

I have a IBM Thinkpad T30 with a graphics card ATI Mobility Radeon 7500. I have an external monitor plugged up. On xp I can dual split easily! I just installed windows 7, and it doesn't detect the external monitor. I right click desktop, and select screen resolution. I click detect and the only screen detected is my laptop screen (not the vga external screen). I checked the IBM website, and the video drivers are only for windows xp. I tried to install the driver for xp on windows 7, and an error pops up and says "Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup"

Up until the other day, I've been using my MSI Wind u230 netbook / Radeon HD 3200 to output to my monitor (Acer S243HL - only has 1x DVI and 2x HDMI inputs) and then occasionally swap to a Westinghouse 32" TV.The other day: I was using my monitor then swapped to the tv, and then returned to my room to connect to the monitor and it just won't work. (To note, I've been using Win key + P to set projector only and to disconnect projector before unplugging the HDMI cable.)The netbook screen will turn itself off (as if it detects the HDMI-out) but the screen or TV will just show "No signal."I tried a shorter HDMI cable, tried the other input on the monitor, still nothing. Strangely enough, checking the displays in Catalyst or the Screen Resolution properties, it can detect both the TV and the monitor. There's just no signal coming out.Even stranger: trying to connect another laptop to the monitor (which used to work) displays "No signal" too.

[code] I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. Inside the bios of my computer is an option to use the onboard graphics controller or to use the graphics card installed on my PCI Express slot. If I select the PCI Express option, the motherboard automatically disables the onboard controller before it even reaches the OS and so it is impossible to extend my desktop. The only way to fix this issue would be a bios update. Anyway, here is what I did instead on Windows XP. I would just use the bios and select the option to use the onboard graphics controller. The OS would start and use the onboard video card and would then detect the graphics card (with the proper drivers) and detect the monitor attached to that card. I would then successfully be able to extend my desktop to the other monitor select proper resolution and even choose which monitor is the default monitor. Thus we have dual monitoring. Now that I have upgraded to Windows 7 I can't get this setup to work.
If I use the bios and select the graphics card option, then in Windows 7 the graphics card is detected (and installed with proper drivers) and the monitor that is attached is properly installed. Inside device manager everything looks perfectly fine (no yellow things), except that the onbaord graphics controller is not detected (but that is to be expected, since that also happens in the XP case). If I use the bios and select the onboard graphics card option, then Windows 7 starts up with the onboard graphics card (with proper drivers installed) and the monitor attached to that port works fine. However, it does not seem to detect the graphics card. Inside device manager, under displays it lists the onboard graphics controller and the GeForce graphics card as properly installed and working. However, it also lists a new, unknown video controller?!???!!? Is this the graphics card again? Does it need more drivers? I can't get the computer to detect the monitor on the graphics card. Apparantly this seems to be an issue with Windows 7. Both monitors successfully work on both graphics controllers (the PCI Express and the onboard), just not at the same time. I don't think this is some type of drivers issue, but I am no expert.

Now it recognizes the drive, it even recognizes it as being named XP but it will not offer to boot to XP. I tried going into the BIOS and shifting that drive to the second boot device behind the drive containing Windows 7

I just installed Windows 7 pro 64 bit on the system I built tonight, and only one of my monitors will work. I installed the latest drivers for my ATI 5770, and windows is recognizing both monitors, but only one comes on. The other stays in standby mode. I made sure both monitors are enabled.
If I switch the cables in the back of the video card, then the opposite monitor works. I can also drag monitor 2 to the left of monitor one, and it takes the taskbar away from the working monitor as expected, moving it to the monitor that won't turn on. Has anyone seen this issue before?

I recently installed windows 7 on my toshiba qosmio f25-av205 with a the geforce go 6600 graphic card and I tried to attach a 2nd monitor to the laptop (sceptre 22") but the 2nd monitor does not display anything when connected and remains black and in standby mode. If I restart the computer with the 2nd monitor plugged in, the laptop's primary screen goes black and the 2nd monitor then displays the regular windows screen.
When i go to the nvidia control panel, it recognizes that two monitors are available and it will even show that the two monitors are on duplicate screen or extended screen, however only one monitor will actually be working.
I've updated my nvidia driver first by using windows update, then by getting updated drivers from laptopvideo2go, but none of the drivers i've used seem to give me two screens working at the same time.
I've tried pressing the windows symbol+p, and it will show that the screens should be duplicated or extended, but only one screen will work. Once the 2nd monitor is working I cannot get the main laptop screen working until I unplug the 2nd monitor and restart my computer.

I'm on a Sony Vaio laptop with a second monitor connected with a VGA cable. I just switched from Vista to Windows 7 and my second 22" monitor is not being recognized under the resolution screen. It worked perfectly fine on vista just hours prior. I tried hitting the detect button, reconnecting the monitor, and restarting. What am i doing wrong?
It might be my graphics card, im pretty sure i have a nvidia geforce 7200m gt. cant seem to find drivers for it anywhere. My computer keeps telling me all my drivers are up to date, yet my second monitor is still not recognized. this doesn't make sense. Should i just go back to vista?

So, I have been searching mindlessly around to figure out how to swap my displays (IE. display 2 as display 1 and vise-versa) and I finally figured out in Catalyst control center, you can swap these displays, I currently have it configured in the control center like this: url...Is there any way to fix this? I restarted, and in Windows, it's still configured like that, but in the center, it's the way I want it. And I know it's not configured right because when I record my desktop with FRAPS, it records like it's configured the Windows way.

I've been browsing the web to find an answer for my question, but with no luck.
I use Windows 7 on a PC which is setup to be both an office and an entertainment computer. Therefore it's connected to two seperate screens with one graphic card. The screens are one 19" desktop screen (1280x1024) and one 40" Samsung LCD TV (1920x1080). When I'm browsing the web, working with documents etc. I use the desktop screen and when I watch movies, pictures etc. I use the TV.
Now I'm trying to switch between them in an easy way. I've tried several third party applications but eventually found that the best way to switch between these in fact is to use Windows 7 built-in software. I've setup Windows to recognize the two seperate screens and I switch between them by using the "Multiple Displays" option in the settings. I then switch by using "show desktop only on 1/2".
Do anyone know if this switch can be done by using a hotkey combination through Windows or through some other software? It's not the end of the world right clicking the desktop and doing it, but it'd be nice to save a few clicks every time.
