'Windows Cannot Complete The Installation' Loop

Aug 17, 2011

My sister has a miniHP 110, which was experiencing virus troubles, so I offered to do a factory restore. I have used that option several times on my regular HP laptop with no issues, but on her's, it's giving me the error message 'Windows cannot complete the installation in safe mode. to continue installing windows, restart the computer.' It goes on in a loop. I've tried booting it in safe mode, but to no avail. I've been playing around with it for a couple of days, and got to the screen where you choose accounts from. It said the account had been disabled, and to check with my administrator. I would go through the trouble of getting a windows 7 disk, but with this version of HPmini, there is no disk drive. I'm at a complete loss, is there anything I can do?

Windows 7 - Restart Loop During Complete Installation / Unexpected Error

Sep 22, 2009

I attempted to install Windows 7 x64 RC version on my new desktop, and about 20 minutes into the "Complete Installation" section my computer crashed for a reason of which I'm not aware (I saw a blue screen with writing for about a second or two before my computer restarted). I now get the following error after windows attempts to "start services":

"Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation".

I've now clicked "OK" about 10 times, with my computer restarting properly each time, and the same error pops up every time.

Windows 7 X64 Installation Loop OOn New Computer

Nov 5, 2011

I have Windows 7 x64 Enterprise installed on a slightly older mother board (Asus MB 775 Intel with 2 GB of RAM) and has worked well for a couple of years or so. I am passing this MB/CPU/RAM combo to my son's computer and have purchased an upgraded MB/CPU/RAM.I've purchased an ASRock H61/U3S3 MB, 2x2GB RAM, Intel i7 2600. In swapping out the MB, I just attempted to plug my hard drive into this MB without doing any installation/upgrade. Unfortunately, when I plugged in the hard drive and turned it on, the computer froze on startup and more specifically, on loading the file CLASSPNP.SYS. So I figured I would have to do a fresh install of Windows. I have an identical hard drive for mirroring and deleted the partition, created new one, formatted, then attempted the reinstall. I began the installation, it copied over all of the files, installed, restarted, then when it was starting it restarted (apparently prematurely). When it restarts after locking up, I receive the error: "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encounter an expected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click 'OK' to restart the computer, and the restart the installation." and so the loop goes on. I've clicked OK many times, but without restarting the installation this error comes up each time. During the final stages of completing the installation of Windows, the computer appears to randomly restart. I'm pretty much stuck and will contact the store that sold me the MB as a last resort.

Windows 7 Installation Loop At Bootup

Aug 6, 2011

I bought a new pc from aria.co.uk, it came in good nic and works fine. I booted up the pc, noticing a very strange lack of any motherboard logos or bios buttons, and proceeded to insatll windows 7. I chose the 64 bit version, I got to the part where it says it is going to restart windows in 5,4,3 etc. It restarted, only for the windows installation to start back at the very first setup screen. I looked at the partitions in custom install and it said that both partitions had installed correctly, my problem was getting to the oncluding install option. I shut down the pc, and took out the windows disc and restarted it. Again no bios options, just a black screen saying "loading operating system" and then "windows did not start correctly" , it took about 20 seconds for the screen to change and then immediately restarted itself taking another 20 seconds? It loaded the windows files and I was releived to get to the final setup screen. After finishing the installation it told me it was going to restart windows, which it did, only for it to reset itself about 3 times, again saying "loading operating system"..... I had a play around with pc, altering the resoluton and stuff, and shut it down for about 5 minutes. When I turned it on it told me "windows did not start correctly" and took me system repair, in which it found a problem and couldn't fix it. The hardware was fine, but it said "a patch stopped the system from starting". It is very hit and miss and sometimes starts normally and sometimes takes me directly into system repair. I managed to get into the bios once by pressing delete rapidly at boot up, and hardrive was selected as priority, so that couldn't be the problem involving windows.

Just got a new HP laptop for Christmas (yeah. It's not even 7 on Christmas morning and I'm already having problems.) I've seen a lot of people with this problem, but I can't fix it the way they did. "Windows could not complete installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation." Here's the catch:I can't start it in Safe Mode.I can't access task manager.F11 does nothing.I've tried alt+tab to see if these things are running in the background; they're not.I don't have any disks. It's an HP Pavilion dv7, and I got it refurbished.

Windows Could Not Complete The Installation

Jul 6, 2012

I had a Windows 7 installation but then installed Windows 8 over it, a few weeks ago.I felt like my computer was getting too bulky and slow, so I decided to restore it to the factory conditions (system restore) by using my Windows 7 recovery disc. The restore finished and restarted, and went right to the Windows 7 loading screen, where it ended in this error message: Quote: Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation. I can't restart the installation though, since the "System Restore" option is grayed out on the Windows 7 recovery disc.

Error: Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart installation. Then it gives me the option to select ok, but when I do, it will keep repeating itself. The pc will not do anything else. I have tried F2 and selecting some options, but its still the same thing. I guess what I am trying to say, its that it does nothing else but repeat itself. I do not know what else to try.

Windows 7 Cannot Complete Installation

Nov 8, 2011

I am totally at my wits end. Been trying to get Windows 7 Home Edition to work on my pc for the last 4 days but no joy.I installed it first on Sunday, which worked, loaded up and I started putting on my antivirus, updating graphics drivers and windows updates. Then, it all froze on me, and since then I have been unable to load Windows 7 at all. I assumed it was down to a corrupt download/update it had done, so I tried the Repair option on the Windows 7 disc. No fix there. So, I decided to format the drive, and redo a clean install, but now, it reaches Completing Installation stage, and either goes into a reboot loop, over and over, or it reaches the Setting Registry Settings, and then goes into a reboot loop. I've tried so many options through the google sites, but nothing is making it work again. Can anyone advise me what to do to fix this and get it working again?

Windows 7 Stuck In Rebooting Loop During Installation?

Jan 27, 2011

Okay so i have this machine, acer m3100, that originally had windows vista. I tried to do a clean install of windows 7, with an original windows 7 installation cd.Everything would go okay until right after the computer restarts and goes to the part of COMPLETING INSTALLATION. At that moment my screen suddenly flashes with the blue screen of death. i wasnt able to right the error that shows up though. Then the computer restarts and goes to setup devices and right after that an error message appears saying, windows did not complete installation, due to an unexpected restart, restart the computer and restart the installation. If i click okay it will go into an endless loop. Restarting one time after another. So i thought i would install windows vista again. Try to make things the way they were before, but i get the same error. i'm only able to install xp. With XP everything works fine. I do want to be able to install windows 7 though.

Cannot Complete Installation Of Windows 7 On RAID 10 Setup

Feb 18, 2010

- build a system with 1 WD1101FALS HDD and installed Windows 7 64 bit no problem. All was good for few days until I got a bug to set up a RAID 10.

- Went out bought 3 more of the same drives. All 4 drives are WD1101FALS 1TB.

- Set up the RAID 10 array on the ASUS motherboard, got the RAID drives for Win7 64bit on a USB key.

- Start install, no problem. Win7 asks for drivers, I click browse and select the drives from USB for the RAID. Install continues, files are copied, thing are flying, it's fast.

- Then 1st re-start

- Windows continues to install (finalizing things, registry update, etc).

- I get to 4 check marks on the Windows Install screen and then it goes into the last step "Completing Installation". The progress bar goes to about 80% complete and then

BLACK SCREEN, computer re-starts. Windows comes up with a message "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation can not proceed. etc.." It assks to press OK and and PC re-starts and the installation re-starts from scratch. I tried about 15 times, with different RAID drives, from XP to Vista, to Win7.

I have no clue what else I can try. Usually people have problem with the RAID drives but I have no problem with that step. The drivers are selected and seem to be working fine. The install almost completes.

Here are the images on how far along the install goes. The progress bar actually goes more than that, I just took a picture before the black screen.

"Windows Could Not Complete The Installation, To Install Windows On This Computer, Restart The Installation"

Apr 16, 2012

First, my laptop is a Aspire 5250-BZ853. I received it back in October, I think...may've been earlier. But anyhow, it was working just fine yesterday until I did a Windows Update. I had to restart, and it was fine again. But then it began running sluggishly slow, and just terrible overall so I restarted it once more and that was when the problems began.

This entire day, this has been driving me nuts. I have important files on here, and I backed up most on my external harddrive a bit ago but there were a few I missed and hadn't the chance to get (ironically enough the most important, papers and such.) At first, it said my password was wrong -- as if someone had changed it! I restarted it once more, thinking it an error or something, and did that again so I restarted it again. Finally, it worked but I think it logged me in as safe mode somehow. After that, it restarted on its own and began this loop. I did a LOT of searching on Google until finally someone suggested to someone else to try pressing "ALT + F10" I think it was as it was starting, and finally I made progress. Before that, it was just going into a constant rebooting loop and I couldn't even log into safe mode. Trying to reset it back to a time it was working was futile, because it said there was no recovery time there! So that shot that idea down. At last, I got somewhere.as well. I clicked the reset to factory settings, but still keep all the files (and they would be saved to "C:Backup" and I thought it had finally worked. But now as it reinstalls, I got an error saying something about how it needed to restart or something...so when I clicked "okay" it began again, and finally it all just came to a stop on "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."

New ASUS Notebook Doesn't Complete Windows 7 Installation

Jan 27, 2012

Client of mine has bought his notebook ASUS U31S with external DVD drive yesterday and he asked me to install windows 7 ultimate (origin was windows 7 home edition) beside other operating system Linux and Solaris.

I divided the 500 GB hard disk but didn't touch the hidden partition that has recovery.

I formatted the C partition that had windows 7 home edition and install a fresh copy of windows 7 ultimate,,,the process was smooth , first restart asking about username and computer name , password,,,etc ,,,,but with the second restart, PC kept rebooting without completing the windows installation.

Although I have used the same widnows 7 CD for his other new laptop and the installation went smooth without any problem.

I tried different media same problem. This laptop does have an external DVD driv, of course it is an LG and brand new

Setup Is Starting Services / Windows Could Not Complete Installation

Jul 19, 2012

Setup is starting services.Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation.About one month ago I decided I wanted to have a clean install of windows 7 on my acer machine. I did this by using an acer made pre-installed program. It claims to be very straightforward, all you have to do is click a button and they will reinstall windows 7 for you and even back up all your data ,so that after the clean install you don't lose a thing. Sounded great but in reality it has stopped my notebook from working.I am now in a circle-jerk of the error message I stated in the beginning of this topic. Once my computer restarts it just gets me the same error message again. I tried booting from a bootable USB-key with the windows 7 iso downloaded from official sources. But this did not do anything from me. I also went to acer support in my city. They offered me to fix it. All they had to do is copy all the info of my hard drive I wanted to keep and do a fresh install of windows 7. Would take them 3 hours. This is the easyiests option for me. But problem is I live in China and I don't trust those tech support guys for good reasons. I went there with my laptop, the tech-support guy put in a usb-key and started up my computer. It started some kind of diagnostics. After 20 minutes of this he stopped the diagnostics and started running some chinese software on my computer. Presumably booting from the USB-key. After a couple of clicks he was browsing around on my hard-drive. I was right behind him and could see him every move. He was snooping around my folders looking for all sorts of personal stuff. He was going to folders he had no business going to. I think he thought I had no idea what he was doing or would not recognize he was snooping around on my computer. At one point he went into a folder and told him not to go there in chinese. He quickly exited, but then couple of seconds later went back to that same folder to do some looking around. Presumably cause he thought I would not notice. So I do not trust these people one bit. And would not want him to copy all the info of my hard drive to then re-install windows7.

Reboot Loop During Installation

Oct 15, 2009

I'm trying to install windows 7 on my laptop through a USB key, but so far I've been unsucessful. What's been happening is that everything goes fine until the installer needs to reboot itself, then the computer reboots, but installation process begins again from the beginning. No error messages or anything like that. I've begun the installation process 3 times now, each time the installer thinks it is installing a new copy.

For reference, I have an IBM Thinkpad T43, and I'm installing Windows 7 Professional.

Boot Loop Preventing OS Installation?

Sep 8, 2011

I have been spending the last 2 days trying to reinstall the OS on my Area 51. I had to take out the HDD and reformat it in another PC as I was getting a boot loop that would start right after the "windows is loading files..." screen and then loop back to the Alienware boot screen. So, since then.. I put the HDD back in and unplugged all USB connections, 1394 and everything besides the keyboard and monitor. I was able to get to the OS installation screen and then at the end of the install, the PC restarted and told me that windows has encountered an error and gave me choices to restart in safe mode and on down the list, but no attempt to repair. It did ask me to put the disk back in and boot from the DVD drive, which I did, but it never goes back to the installation.

So, I then took out the battery on the motherboard and put it back (also took out the GPU and put it back in). I was then able to get back to the Windows installation screen, but after the PC had to restart, I ended up back in the same place with the Windows error and safe mode options (none of which work). So, am I looking at an issue with the MIO by chance, the MOBO battery maybe or what? I'm not sure why I'm having these issues while just trying to reinstall the OS on a clean drive. Also, could this be because I'm using 2 x 4GB RipjawsX RAM rather then the triple channel (which I am getting today)? Can I just remove the memory and try to boot without it in? Or is it possible this could be due to the MOBO battery starting to go?

Reboot Before Installation Is Complete?

Jun 9, 2010

I have attempted to install Windows 7 a couple of times now (with different copies each time) and I keep getting the same problem:Everything goes very smoothly for the most part. It finishes the installation, and then goes to reboot. When it attempts to load up Windows 7 the first time, I get the black screen that asks what mode to start windows in (Safe Mode, Start Normally, etc) and I choose start normally. It then brings up the Win 7 startup screen, but pops up with an error that explains that the computer was rebooted unexpectedly and the install did not complete. From this point, all I can do is click the "ok" button (the only option given in the dialog box) which just restarts the computer. If I just let it go and don't touch anything, it brings me back to the exact same message. This happens infinitely. My only other option is to boot from CD again, which lets me start the install all over again. But this still just results in the same error. I ended up just re-installing XP so that I could try and find a fix for the issue.

Unable To Complete Required Installation Folder?

I have a Win7 ultimate 64bit I recieved from a friend. I assumed it was one of his Microsoft apps he gets in his MSDN subscription for free. Anyway, every now and then I would get these pop-ups from Microsoft saying its not genuine. He would give me a script to run that would fix it, until it would happen again.Bottom line I foud out later this was pirated software so I purchased a normal copy (win7 pro 64 bit) to do a reinstal of the software, BUTTTTT now I can't do it because I keep getting these errors saying "Windows was unable to create the required instalation folder 0x80070005". I know the last update for the pirated copy was something to remove "RemoveWAT.exe". I tried to do a restore in Win7 to a previous state but it errored "0x80070001"Any advice on what to do. I don't want to have to reformat the whole drive, because this was a dual boot on a new MAC so I could boot in iether MAC or Win7.
