View 6 RepliesI have noticed that this topic has been posted more than once and I have read some of them. I have removed Norton Internet Security 2009. I have removed my e-mailaccounts and reset them. I have reinstalled Norton and nothing works. Everytime I want receive and/or send mail, Windows Mail asks for my username and password. Even when Norton wasn't installed Windows Mail didn't remember, so I don't think Norton is causing this problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have never had to use a password to get or send messages. Today I logged on after not being on for a week and now windows security is asking for a logon name and password. What the heck happened? I have been slowly downloading the updates and yes I am behind in downloading them. I am on dialup so it takes a while to download them. Is this some type of new security? I don't want to lose the emails I have by setting up a new account.

Now whenever I try 2 do nething, it asks for the admin password but the area where you would enter the password and the OK key are greyed out. ive tryed a few things I thaut of and a few things from other sites including starting in safe mode and reinstalling vista completely, of course reinstalling didnt work because it needs permission to run. Ive posted on like 5 forums and asked all my friends and no1 has a clue how to fix this or even how its posible so if ne1 has ne idea wat 2 do.

I have a laptop that was manufacturer by TOSHIBA with Vista Home Premium OS. And I haven't used it in awhile, so I kinda forgot the Windows Login Password. It's only one account on it, the "Administrator" account. So the problem is I need to login on that laptop, but sadly, I didn't make a "reset disk" for the password on it. Is there anyway I can ever log back onto it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedLaptop connected wireless to a router. Desktop connected to same router with Ethernet cable. Seagate external HDD, connected to the desktop with a USB 2 connection. I'm trying to use Vista Backup & Restore to backup the laptop to the external HDD. When I try to set it up, the program finds the disk alright. But then it asks for a user & password. What user & password? I tried with all the PW's and users I have on the two computers, but nothing works.

When I log onto machine 1 it won't let me print. It tells me I don't have access or the print spooler is not running.. If I go to network places on machine 1 and click on machine 2 it asks for the user name and password. I enter the same information I entered when I logged onto machine 1 and after this I have connectivity and am able to print.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer laptop that came with factory-installed Vista Home Premium. I've had it two years and I am the only user. Today it crashed and when I restarted it, it asked me for my password at the user selection screen. I had it set up to just select the user, I don't even recall setting a password and I don't believe I ever made a recovery disk. Microsoft says they have never heard of this problem. How can I go back to no password being required at the user selection screen? Acer did not provide a Windows Vista disk.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am running vista ultimate and am having trouble when logging in. When I boot the system it boots fine to the login in screen. When I put my password in it takes 33 seconds sitting at Welcome to get to the desktop. When it does get to the desktop all is fine. It also does this if I log out and back in again (just the login part). If I lock the pc and then log back in it is straight in. Surley 33 seconds is too long.

1. I had two laptops running XP professional. They were member of domain say XXX.
2. In both laptops on Cdrive I had shared folder myPrivateData
3. In office (while connected to domain) both laptop could see shared folders of each other.
4. In home I signed on with cashed credentials of domain and could operate as peer to peer network without any problem. (i.e. I signed on using domainnameuserid profile)
Problem:
My problem started when I replaced one laptop with new laptop installed with vista business 64............
I am attempting to bypass the password login at start-up since I am the only one using the computer (64-bit version of Vista). I go through the change password routine, typing in blanks, or highlighting the new password fields and clicking on same (this worked for my laptop with the 32-bit version of Vista), but I don't seem to be able to effect a change. There must be a formal approach to this solution!

View 6 Replies View RelatedUse Windows Mail in conjunction with that e-mail address for a long time now. Two days ago it suddenly decided that it required me to sign in to be able to retrieve/send my mail. I have entered my username and the correct password in a whole heap of different ways but it just keeps rejecting anything I type in even though I know that they are correct. I have even checked all the settings against my husband's computer and they are the same other than the username and yet he can still use his Windows Mail account but I can't - it is so infuriating considering that I run a business from home and I need access!
This is the message I keep getting after it rejects my sign in information (I have removed my actual name for privacy reasons) - Account: 'my name', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR popgate argument(s) missing.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91

View 4 Replies View RelatedNo idea what caused this, it was working fine, I closed and opened it, it suddenly wanted username/password for both accounts. Repeatedly entering it via the popup or the accounts window, checking and unchecking the remember password button, using ok button or apply button, nothing seems to help. I can just leave it running obviously, but if I close and reopen it, or restart my machine, I have to type them in again, which is a pain.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I first start Vista mail a popup asks me if I want to find my connection on this phone number or should it dial another number. When I click on newsgroups I get the same message and have to answer and when I click back to my inbox I get the popup question again and I have to click it repeatedly. It asks if it should dial another connection that is no longer on the computer. How can I kill this damned message? I switched to Live Mail but it does the same thing with that so I'm back with mail.
