I have changed my login password, but when I tried to re-change it again it told me that I am writing the current password wrong. I can’t logoff from my laptop. I am afraid that I will not beable to login to it again. By the way I am the administrator and the only account in my laptop.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer laptop that came with factory-installed Vista Home Premium. I've had it two years and I am the only user. Today it crashed and when I restarted it, it asked me for my password at the user selection screen. I had it set up to just select the user, I don't even recall setting a password and I don't believe I ever made a recovery disk. Microsoft says they have never heard of this problem. How can I go back to no password being required at the user selection screen? Acer did not provide a Windows Vista disk.

got a couple of vista computers that i have been asked to fix as the main problem is on both they have forgotten the login password so i need a program or something that i can use on any vista computer that will let me to reset the password or change it as they just cant remember it to login at all.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am running vista ultimate and am having trouble when logging in. When I boot the system it boots fine to the login in screen. When I put my password in it takes 33 seconds sitting at Welcome to get to the desktop. When it does get to the desktop all is fine. It also does this if I log out and back in again (just the login part). If I lock the pc and then log back in it is straight in. Surley 33 seconds is too long.

The dashed line is a wireless connection; the solid line is a wired connection. "Nnet" is the wireless router. The switch is the hub which is a part of the wireless router. Michael-PC is Vista, and mdoccomputer is WinXP.

1. I had two laptops running XP professional. They were member of domain say XXX.
2. In both laptops on Cdrive I had shared folder myPrivateData
3. In office (while connected to domain) both laptop could see shared folders of each other.
4. In home I signed on with cashed credentials of domain and could operate as peer to peer network without any problem. (i.e. I signed on using domainnameuserid profile)
Problem:
My problem started when I replaced one laptop with new laptop installed with vista business 64............
I am attempting to bypass the password login at start-up since I am the only one using the computer (64-bit version of Vista). I go through the change password routine, typing in blanks, or highlighting the new password fields and clicking on same (this worked for my laptop with the 32-bit version of Vista), but I don't seem to be able to effect a change. There must be a formal approach to this solution!

It's only one account on it, the "Administrator" account. So the problem is I need to login on that laptop, but sadly, I didn't make a "reset disk" for the password on it. Is there anyway I can ever log back onto it?

Today I logged on after not being on for a week and now windows security is asking for a logon name and password. What the heck happened? I have been slowly downloading the updates and yes I am behind in downloading them. I am on dialup so it takes a while to download them. Is this some type of new security? It all of a sudden appeared the other day. I have used "manage accounts" to try and delete it but it does not appear on there. the os I am using is vista home basic 32bit.

When I logged in Vista using Omnipass fingerprint, the LG intelligent update cannot run. It gives me a message 75???/?????. Instead, it works fine if I login by typing the password.
View 4 Replies View Relatedhey everyone, so i know that there have been lots of post similar to this, but none of the actual responses work in my case. I used my laptop in the morning, no problem, and that afternoon, after I logged in, "welcome" popped up, and it remained on that screen for approx 30 seconds, and then it turned black. the cursor works but you cant see anything, but it sounds like everything is loading. I tried to press control, alt, delete but that doesnt work. It just sits there.
So I tried running it in safe mode, and if i hold down f8, it beeps for a bit, and then sometimes it runs in safe mode, sometimes not. I tried doing a system restore, but that didnt work. I dont know what else to do
I have two user accounts and no passwords for either one of them work. I have tried every possible password and still it doesn't work. I have tried reinstalling Vista but it appears that the CD-ROM is not working because it doesn't read any of the cd's that I put in. If I try to log on as administrator it says that the account has been disabled.

Im using limited user on vista/xp but some of my game does not work like gameguard. anyhow to recover administrator password?? the debug administrator is lock(has pw cant open) and my brother don let me play games. i did try other method but dint work.
i cant reset the password from a cmd and i cant reset the password with boot(if boot. it will clear everything than im dead meat) anyway,if there is anyway to disable gameguard or recover the password using C:WINDOWSSystem32 ???
many things to learn! been using my pc for a while now and finally decided to set it up correctly as I learned about the need to have separate admin account with individual users. so now it is done and i'm learning i should have made a cd for password retrieval if password for admin account doesn't work.
Well, my password doesn't work for my admin account and i didn't make a password retreival cd. So it seems i have to reload vista? my desktop pc is an HP and like most new pc don't come have disks. if i decide to reload vista, will i lose all my
personal data, pics, mp3, docs unless i copy them all to dvd? or will vista reinstall itself without losing personal data. i seem to remember that on older ms-os's you could reload the os and not lose you personal data?
JUST set up a wireless network today through my linksys wrt54g2 router. And the Password I configured it with wont work. Meaning I can put nothing in the password space and still get in on wireless devices. WHAT THE HECK. Its only for my PS3, WII and NINTENDO ds. No laptops ITS WEP EDIT- Only wep passwords dont work. but my wireless games only work with wep. Also when clicking on wep once I got- Wep will stop wps because wifi protected setup doesnt support WEP/wpa-enterprise, wpa2-enterprise radius

On vista the administrator account is showing as a icon on the login screen. I dont want this to be visible, any ideas how to hide this?. I saw a registry hack but this removes the icon but it seems in doing so there is then no way to login without the icon.

My current user account is working fine, however when I create a new account, either through control panel or through "local users and groups" option by right clicking computer. The account creates and is apparently all ready to go, however when I try log in to the account, i get an error: "the windows login service service failed the login, the user profile could not be loaded". I also notice that in C:users folder, there is no folder with the new account I created, i assume that is why the error is appearing. I have done numerious virus scans, with norton, so thats not the issue. I have found other problems on the internet but they only appear to be having problems with the main account, my main administrator account works fine.

I get an error: "share is not accessible. You might not have permission (which I know my login/pass does becuase I'm logged in with XP on two other boxes). But there's the paragraph; "Multiple connections to a server or shared resouces by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed, Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again". What the heck I want to keep the same login (ME) to access a devise... is this really how it has to be with Vista?
I have Vista Home Premium on an Acer Laptop and all was fine until I decided to change my user password. I had or have (who knows now at this stage) an Administrator,User and HDD password installed on my machine. I went into my setup and changed my user password from set to clear but left my other passwords at set. when I exited and saved changes and rebooted I could not get back in with any and all passwords. To make things worse I cannot boot from cd either. It goes to press <F2> go to setup , Enter Current Password: ? then Invalad password I have tried the F10, F12, Del, F5, F8 keys and nothing seems to get past that login screen. Does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions on how I can get into this computer, or how I can get to a command prompt. Can I un-solder the internal Battery and then re attach it.

We tried to go into the safe mode but the only screen we get is his password sign on screen. Even during boot we pressed f8 key but the password screen came up. As of last Friday, began exhibiting funky behavior and could not get past login:a) Login screen showed two users - one correct, w/ no password, and one named "user" with unknown password.b) Selecting correct user (and no password) showed wait state mouse icon for a few seconds, then displayed message "The network connection was aborted by the local system" and returned to the login screen. Subsequent attempts to login without rebooting displayed message "Invalid Handle".c) System shutoff button in lower right corner of screen displayed NO options on dropdown only a horizontal line, and did not appear to restart the system. Problem exists with either NIC connected on both client and test networks. System restore to previous (working) occasion did not have any effect. "Safe Mode" (with or without Networking) didn't get past this problem. Hardware and memory diagnostics all pass. There's no new hardware and no BIOS or driver updates within the past 60 days.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI running Vista Enterprise on an HP laptop. I'm having an issue where randomly it doesn't allow me to login, or sometimes after I'm logged in and then the screensaver lock activates it won't let me "unlock" it (so basically log back in).
After I do ctrl-alt-del I see the screen that shows the user accounts on the system...when I try to click on any of them nothing happens. The password box never displays. Its like the screen is "locked" up for some reason. My only solution is to turn it off and turn it back on.
This is a new laptop...running latest service pack and updates. I haven't installed anything new on it. Last new app I installed was a few weeks ago...and then this problem started. I tried turning off UAC and that didn't resolve the problem (I was just guessing).
I have successfully installed the sp1 and there are no serious problem so far. However a serious problem is rising: I hoped SP1 solved it but it did not. Soon after I login the disk on my laptop is intensively used: I succeded in identifying the process which causes the problem and is C:\windowssystem32configegback. It uses the disk for at least 10 minutes, then everything is normal. Since is a windows process causing the problem I deactivated the system restore (also because I have never used it in the past). Nothing changed.
