Login Pop-up Window Asking User Name And Password

Apr 10, 2009

When opening Windows Mail the login pop-up window keeps asking for user name and password. It doesn't stop, even when correct data entered. This started by itself - does anyone have a solution?

I have a few computers in my home network (all Ethernet, not wireless). I can't log onto my wife's Vista Home Premium (named tonis-acer) from my Vista Home Premium (PaulsAcerLaptop), another Home Premium laptop, my Windows 7 beta laptop, or an XP Pro laptop.

I login in as:
User name: Toni

response:
User name: PaulsAcerLaptop oni

Window Mail Invalid User Name Password

Apr 7, 2008

I kept getting an error message ("invalid user name or password") everytime I tried to enter in my user name and password to get access to my email with Windows Vista on my new computer. After an exhaustive effort to solve the problem with my ISP and with HP (including deactivating Windows Vista Firewall and shield and uninstalling my spy and virus software and then reinstalling Vista) I contacted Microsoft and paid a well spent $60 and they quickly resolved the problem. Here's what I had to do to make it work.

Open Mail, go to Tools, and then Accounts, click Add and created an E-mail account. (Type "POP3" in the field "My incoming mail server is a server." Under "Incoming mail (POP3):" type: pop.(your service provider), mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "pop.suddenlink.net." Under "Outgoing mail (SMTP):" type "smtp." and your service provider, mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "smtp.suddenlink.net." Next, and this is where I goofed, under "Incoming Mail Server" it asks for your "E-mail username:". Put your FULL EMAIL ADDRESS not just the name before "@." Mine reads dsjaggers@suddenlink.net. Then enter in your password (that you gave your internet service provider) in the "Password:" field.{And I checked the box "Remember password" so I don't have to do that every time I go to get my email.} Then MAKE SURE to check the box under "Outgoing Mail Server" that says beside it "My server requires authentication.")

Invalid Password: Setup And Changed User Password From Set To Clear But Left Other Passwords At Set

Oct 31, 2009

I have Vista Home Premium on an Acer Laptop and all was fine until I decided to change my user password. I had or have (who knows now at this stage) an Administrator,User and HDD password installed on my machine. I went into my setup and changed my user password from set to clear but left my other passwords at set. when I exited and saved changes and rebooted I could not get back in with any and all passwords. To make things worse I cannot boot from cd either. It goes to press <F2> go to setup , Enter Current Password: ? then Invalad password I have tried the F10, F12, Del, F5, F8 keys and nothing seems to get past that login screen. Does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions on how I can get into this computer, or how I can get to a command prompt. Can I un-solder the internal Battery and then re attach it.

Requiring A Password Login

Jun 1, 2009

I have an Acer laptop that came with factory-installed Vista Home Premium. I've had it two years and I am the only user. Today it crashed and when I restarted it, it asked me for my password at the user selection screen. I had it set up to just select the user, I don't even recall setting a password and I don't believe I ever made a recovery disk. Microsoft says they have never heard of this problem. How can I go back to no password being required at the user selection screen? Acer did not provide a Windows Vista disk.

Put Password, Takes 33 Second To Login

Oct 2, 2008

I am running vista ultimate and am having trouble when logging in. When I boot the system it boots fine to the login in screen. When I put my password in it takes 33 seconds sitting at Welcome to get to the desktop. When it does get to the desktop all is fine. It also does this if I log out and back in again (just the login part). If I lock the pc and then log back in it is straight in. Surley 33 seconds is too long.

By Pass Password Login At Start-up?

May 6, 2009

I am attempting to bypass the password login at start-up since I am the only one using the computer (64-bit version of Vista). I go through the change password routine, typing in blanks, or highlighting the new password fields and clicking on same (this worked for my laptop with the 32-bit version of Vista), but I don't seem to be able to effect a change. There must be a formal approach to this solution!

Windows Login Password Forgotten

Oct 27, 2009

I have a laptop that was manufacturer by TOSHIBA with Vista Home Premium OS. And I haven't used it in awhile, so I kinda forgot the Windows Login Password. It's only one account on it, the "Administrator" account. So the problem is I need to login on that laptop, but sadly, I didn't make a "reset disk" for the password on it. Is there anyway I can ever log back onto it?

Windows Mail Login: Asking Logon Name And Password?

Feb 17, 2009

I have never had to use a password to get or send messages. Today I logged on after not being on for a week and now windows security is asking for a logon name and password. What the heck happened? I have been slowly downloading the updates and yes I am behind in downloading them. I am on dialup so it takes a while to download them. Is this some type of new security? I don't want to lose the emails I have by setting up a new account.

How Do Bypass Switch User Screen To Login As Another?

Feb 26, 2008

Whenever someone in my family walks away from using the computer with Windows Vista, after the Screen Saver, I'm always taken to a screen that allows only the last user to log back in, but when someone else wants to log in, they need to hit the "Switch User" button to go back to the regular login screen. Can I have the computer just go back to showing all the user's names (so I don't have to click the "Switch User" button to login as me). I would like this to work, just as XP did... so if the last person who used the computer has to log back in, s/he would just have to click their name again...just like XP did.

Create The User And Password Again

Dec 5, 2007

I have created a task to start my Folding@Home client when the computer starts (the SMP client won't run as a service yet). The FAH client needs to run as admin, so I checked the "Run with highest privileges" box, enabled the option to run whether user is logged in or not and entered my user and password when prompted. If I run the task manually it starts and runs correctly.

When the computer is restarted, the client does not start and an error message is waiting in Task Scheduler as follows:Event ID: 101 OP Code: 6619136 Error Value: 2147943726When initially setting this up, I remember the error message saying something about a bad username/password. That isn't in the Task Scheduler history though. If I open the task and simply resave it (changing nothing, but entering username/password again), the task will start manually. This is so close, but very frustrating that such a simple task won't quite work.

Admin User Password

Feb 13, 2009

A friend of my sisters has asked me to look at her PC, as it keeps "just crashing". A thorugh technical description to help I know!.However, I have found that the PC, which is running Vista Home Premium, has 3 user accounts.

1) Admin account with password
2) Standard User
3) Guest

I can not log into the admin account as I do not have the password, and my sisters friend is unreachable. The standard user account, wont letme do anything remotely techy, or use any system tools, or install my own PC diagnostic tools. The user account doesn't have the correct permission. It wont even update any of the virus definitions with out asking for the password.I have a copy of Active Password changer, that I have used in the past in these circumstances, but the PC was bought from a big retail chain, and has been set up with the usual hidden partion with important files on it. So Active Password Changer can not see the partion with the SAM database on it to change the admin password.

User Setting Does Know Password

Nov 13, 2008

As a total novice at Vista and a new machine purchased I am keen to keep my son from getting inside this pc. He is always changing various settings without asking so I have tried to set his account to Standard User but he still seems to be getting past that to set himself as an Administrator. I have a password set on my account as Administrator so I do not understand how he is getting past this security. He is proficient at working pc's so when I ask him how he does he just says "I am good". Does he have a way of bypassing the user setting I have given him or does he know my password if the latter then easy to fix but if he has a way to bypass this then what can I do to stop it if anything?
