It just happened now, after almost 2 years. When I open WM, it asks for my username and password, every time. Before I do a system restore, I 'd like to know if there is reason for that, and if there is another way to fix this annoyance.
View 9 RepliesOn my grandmas computer, I created a 2nd account and made it the admin account. At some point, this account somehow became a standard account and now there is no admin. Now whenever I try 2 do nething, it asks for the admin password but the area where you would enter the password and the OK key are greyed out. ive tryed a few things I thaut of and a few things from other sites including starting in safe mode and reinstalling vista completely, of course reinstalling didnt work because it needs permission to run. Ive posted on like 5 forums and asked all my friends and no1 has a clue how to fix this or even how its posible so if ne1 has ne idea wat 2 do.

Laptop connected wireless to a router. Desktop connected to same router with Ethernet cable. Seagate external HDD, connected to the desktop with a USB 2 connection. I'm trying to use Vista Backup & Restore to backup the laptop to the external HDD. When I try to set it up, the program finds the disk alright. But then it asks for a user & password. What user & password? I tried with all the PW's and users I have on the two computers, but nothing works.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install a printer on machine 2 from machine 1. The printer is shared. Same workgroup The same logon information on both machines, user and password the same. When I log onto machine 1 it won't let me print. It tells me I don't have access or the print spooler is not running.. If I go to network places on machine 1 and click on machine 2 it asks for the user name and password. I enter the same information I entered when I logged onto machine 1 and after this I have connectivity and am able to print.

I have removed my e-mailaccounts and reset them. I have reinstalled Norton and nothing works. Everytime I want receive and/or send mail, Windows Mail asks for my username and password. Even when Norton wasn't installed Windows Mail didn't remember, so I don't think Norton is causing this problem.

Winrar says I don't have the rights to do so and won't let me tell it to do anything. 7zip acts as if it is working but the file never extracts. If I open up the folder to extract to and drag the files from the zipper program it asks for permission and will complete the task. how to tell Vista to allow extractions from winrar or 7zip

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I first start Vista mail a popup asks me if I want to find my connection on this phone number or should it dial another number. When I click on newsgroups I get the same message and have to answer and when I click back to my inbox I get the popup question again and I have to click it repeatedly. It asks if it should dial another connection that is no longer on the computer. How can I kill this damned message? I switched to Live Mail but it does the same thing with that so I'm back with mail.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got an Adobe Master Suite Collection CS3 Extended (AMSC CS3 Ext) installed on my computer. I have windows vista ultimate 64-bit OS. Now i very new to this blog so bare with me. If this problem has a solution. Anyways all of the programs (within AMSC CS3 Ext) run fine on my computer except (cue dramatic music) Photoshop CS3! Now i dont get an error or any kind of error when i installed the program but when i start the program it does like its going to start up and its loading the tools and stuff but when it gets to "Building TWAIN menu items" it turns a transparent white and says there is a problem and Photoshop cs3 has stopped working and then sadly asks to close the program. I had or have (who knows now at this stage) an Administrator,User and HDD password installed on my machine. I went into my setup and changed my user password from set to clear but left my other passwords at set. when I exited and saved changes and rebooted I could not get back in with any and all passwords. To make things worse I cannot boot from cd either. It goes to press <F2> go to setup , Enter Current Password: ? then Invalad password I have tried the F10, F12, Del, F5, F8 keys and nothing seems to get past that login screen. Does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions on how I can get into this computer, or how I can get to a command prompt. Can I un-solder the internal Battery and then re attach it.

We tried to go into the safe mode but the only screen we get is his password sign on screen. Even during boot we pressed f8 key but the password screen came up. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have my computer, and I need to set a password, but if I do, what happens is that it loads the user selection screen first, even though I'm the only user. Because of that, if I turn on my computer, go downstairs to do something,and come back up 5 minutes later, the computer will be stuck on the user selection screen, whereas if I don't have a password, it'll automatically load all the applications (this takes a while...).
Is there any way to still have to enter a password to unlock the computer, but so that Windows would first load all the programs, and THEN ask me for a password?

When I view update history when trying to install KB982536, I get the information - Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 SP1, Windows Vista SP2 Failed.

My daughters forgotten her password on her laptop, i have tried all the usual methods to get in to it but to no avail, in both normal and safe mode, we don't have the XP disc as she bought the laptop from a friend, i have even thought about downloading ophcrack but it seems a bit long winded and a little confusing.

I am overseas for a while. So to be able to access my Vista computer at home, I installed Log Me In program, which works great for me in other environments. However, I've found out that I can't access my PC because the account on my Vista box does not have a password set (e.g. it's blank). Log Me In, it turns out, requires a password.
However, I am able to get to other computers (all running Windows XP) on my home network (i have 4 PCs in the house doing various things) via Remote Desktop and VNC. My question is whether it is possible to remotely (via Windows XP computers that are on my network) change the password for the account on my Vista computer?

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (a special waadaad Promo version I received at the #PopTech! Conference last October) via VMWare on my Mac. I only use this for Quicken, and it's been a couple of months since I've opened it. I need to get in there ASAP, as I have a meeting with my accountant and need to make major updates by Monday. I have not created a password reset disk, and I definitely do NOT want to lose the Quicken data I already have entered.

I know this is a Vista group, I have xp, and two different windows 7 OS's on my hdd for eval. My wife has put a logon password on one of the 7 installs and forgot it. I can, of course get into that install from the other one, but have no knowledge of how to remove or change the password on the other install.
