I run 2 machines Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista Home Premium. I have been using Outlook 2000 for years in the XP machine. I am unable to install Outlook 2000 onto the Vista machine. Is there a way to do it?
View 4 RepliesI uninstalled Office 2007 trial version and loaded on my trusty copy of Office 2000 Premium (I custom installed without loading on Outlook as I know this may cause problems). Everything seems to work OK except Word. It opens, then hangs, then I get a 'Not Responding' message come up. I have looked a few other fixes -: Re naming Normal.dot (this does not seem to appear in any files) and I have changed the default printer (that didn't work either). I can get word to open if I type in winword.exe /a but I know this is only a temporary fix.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm assuming a clean install with an upgrade license will be identical to a clean install with a 'full' copy, except that at some point during the process, it will ask for my key for Windows XP? I just want to confirm this is the case before I go buy an upgrade copy. one last question to tack on here - if I have a desktop and a laptop computer will it let me install the same copy and license key of Vista on both? I know some MS products in the past have allowed you to install on more than one computer because they realize a lot of people have more than one computer but they only work with one at a given time.

1. Was not able get the time zone value to stick during setup, Had to reset after set up.
2. I successfully connected to the internet via dial-up, but I then changed the settings to not automatically dial. Now I cannot find the equivalent of "Network and dial-up connections". I want to create a shortcut on the desktop or a toolbar for each connection. How does one do this?
3. I have 2 desktop.ini icons on the desktop. Likely, because I told Vista to not hide any files.
4. How does find the equivalent of Windows Explorer?

I have to install Windows Vista Business over Windows 2000 on several school computers, then roll it back to XP. Do I need to remove the 2000 first? Need advice on the easiest way to accomplish this
View 5 Replies View RelatedI always used outlook 2003 in Win XP Pro, then I got a new computer and I installed my registered version of Microsoft Office 2003 on my new computer running Vista Home Premium. Then I found out that I was not able to get attachments in Outlook from anybody that had me in the Cc as a recipient. It did work as long as I was the only reciepient though.So I thought so what, I will use vista.mail, because it allows me to use the newsgroups as well. It reminded me on Outlook Express. Now I miss using Outlook again, and I clicked on the icon, and right away Outlook freezes, and I can't get the cursor on to the Outlook desktop, it will stay all around my other desktop, but will not go to Outlook. Have they changed things in Outlook on my present OS so I will be able to look at attachments from my friends? and how do I get Outlook to respond again. Maybe I need to turn something off or on in either Outlook or Vista.

I have my account for gmail set up exactly the way it was on outlook express, but it will not connect to the gmail server. Two of my colleagues have recently started using Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 respectively as their mail client (both of them running on an Windows XP SP3 PC). It happened several times already that I was only able to receive the text of their email messages, but not any attachments at all. Their attachments are Word documents and PDF files. It has never happened before when my colleagues were using OE6 as their default mail client

My question regards attachments that are attached to the email. They are stripped/removed in transit. Other posts about this say that they can see the attachment but can't open it... but this is a different issue. There is no attachment at all though I attached and sent the email myself.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get around a problem in Outlook (2007), whereby Outlook hangs for around ten minutes if you hit key or click the mouse whilst it is mid-stream of checking a POP3 mailbox. To this point, I've tried just about everything, recreating the Outlook profile, recreating the Windows profile, installed SP1, uninstalled SP1, installed other office hotfixes, uninstalled same hotfixes, installed Vista SP1, uninstalled Vista SP1, installed Vista hotfixes, uninstalled Vista hotfixes.
The next thing I want to do, short of a fresh clean install of Vista, is to do an inplace re-install of Vista. However, in the Home Premium stakes, all I have is an OEM disk, which is what the machine came with. Does anyone have any way this can be done? I want to try this as a last-resort fix, as it did work for me in resolving a problem with a different Outlook 2007 problem on a Vista Business machine, but I feel kind of stuck, and in a position where I now have to purchase a Home Premium Upgrade, just to get the disk. Seems a lot of expense to go to, just for a piece of plastic.
I really want to keep the multiply identies you get with Outlook - as I dont want o have seperate Log ins - so if I can't do this wiht the vista MAil can I remove it completely and install outlook?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an HP7900 16GB memory using Vista 64. I have a big problem as I can't install / remove any software. Can't access outlook 2003 (it just hangs, just like when I try to install / remove software). I can't use the restore programmes either (Just hangs as above). This all stated when a red cross appeared on my networking icon in the bottom right of the screen.
I have tried to down load registry checkers but as above, they can't install. I can still access the internet and use all my adobe software, all office except outlook and use the internet. Has anyone else seen this?
I'm learning to use Vista (new computer purchased yesterday) and my old PC as XP and Office 2003. I only use the calendar feature of Outlook and was wondering if there's a way to import my outlook file (outlook.pst) to Vista Calendar (seems to only import .ics files) as I don't yet have Outlook 2007 installed on my Vista PC.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Windows HP with Vista Sp1 installed on my Black Viper tweaked pc and am very satisfied with its performance ; however I wish to install Win Vista SP2 and have run into major roadblocks. I have read through many suggestions on this topic but still no joy after a month or more of trying. Initially, the download would start, then stop after 99% was installed and revert back. Now when trying to install, I get a message that SP1 is not installed and I must install it first . SP1 is installed but I tried to reinstall it to no avail.
When trying to reinstall SP1 I get a message that SP1 is already installed, then the reinstallation stops.! Yet, my attempts to install SP2 tell me I must first install SP1. I have tried the SFC / SCANNOW and chkdsk /r repairs to no avail . I have also tried repairing my system with the Microsoft OEM HP installation disk but the repair does not address my issues. I do not wish to reinstall Vista from scratch since my system is working very nicely except for this glitch. I am chasing my tail and need some help with this problem.
I have an HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop that has repeatedly failed to install the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 since August 2008. I have installed KB947821-v4,v5,and v6 x86 updates to resolve this issue, but the sp1 update continues to fail. I have been on the phone with Microsoft for three days. I allowed them remote access to my laptop; they disabled firewalls, and virus and spyware protection, blocked startup programs, and they have had no luck either. I even tried to update in safe mode, but was unable to do so as well. I loathe Vista, and would like to use my upgrade to Windows 7 disc, but of course, the Windows 7 advisor tells me I cannot upgrade without the mythical and elusive Vista SP1 installed.

Today I downloaded the newest version from Apple's web site. Installation proceeds normally for awhile then I get the error below (it appears in box labeled " iTunes + QuickTime".

I navigated to the key (substituting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInstallerUserDataS-1-5-18 for UNKNOWN above) and found 3 instances of the key. 1 had data, 2 were empty. I deleted the 2 empty iterations. I had read about running regedit as an administrator and trying to change the permissions so that the owner was "adminstrators" instead of "system" but was unable to change the ownership (maybe because I have not uninstalled the older version of QuickTime that I used to get things working). Anyway I would like to install the 64 bit version of iTunes now but need to get past this problem. Additional info: I noticed that iTunes 64 bit selected as the install directory C:Program Files (x86) instead of C:Program Files. I have tried installing in each of these directories with the same results.
My system state is now that everything with iTunes in uninstalled with the exception of QuickTime 7.3.1 which I use to run a program that I use often.
I am experiencing a whole deal of difficulty running a clean install of vista ultimate x64.
Now upon install it seems to boot fine and get into the initial install setup of keyboard type (US etc...) and the selection of the OS, I select my HDD to install vista on and the installation goes away copying files and extracting files ... then upon the reboot to setup the rest of windows this is where it all goes terribly wrong, i have had several different errors and BSODs examples are below:

Now i have researched all the errors i have had show up and can define nothing in common with them all, I have removed the X-FI creative sound card, wireless kbd and mouse and gone back to basics, i have checked all my hardware and it IS compatible with x64 but still no luck.
My system consists of:
M/B - PN5-E SLI
PSU - Thermaltake tough power 1100W
CPU - Q6800 quad core
PGU - EN8800GTS x2
ram - 1G x4 kingston ddr2
HDD - WD 500G
i can get no replication of the error it just goes mental on the initial reboot after installing windows, and then reboots over and over, sometimes it gets further and gets back into windows but then i just get told the pc rebooted unexpectedly or the install was interupted to reboot and reinstall, i have tried to repair the half install but still no resolve (the even weirder thing was i tested vista ultimate x86 (32-bit) and all installs fine.
Once I put the CD in the 'Setup' comes on, I press Run, and then click Continue as it needs permission to open the CD..... and that's it. The programme will never open or show an option to install. If I right click onto the icon and click open or install nothing still happens. This is for all CD's that this happens to.
