View 4 RepliesI recently installed Office 2007 on a new Vista 64 bit system. I was unable to install my previous version of WordPerfect Office 12. When using WP on my previous Windows XP system, I was able to go into the word processor, click open, go to the wp folder (where I kept all my documents) and do a search based on a particular word I was looking for. For example, I could type in the word "hebrew" in the files box and each document file that contained that word (not only in the file name but in the contents of the file) was listed. I could then preview the contents of each document file and open the one I wanted.
Does this feature work in Word 2007 under Vista 64? I have only been able to find a file name with the word I type, even though I know many other document files contain the word I type in the files box. This has been very frustrating because it means I have to preview every file to find the one I want rather than just the files with the typed word in its contents.
Installed Office 2003 on new computer which is running Vista Home Premium 64 bit. Unable to change the Office Assistant image from the paper clip. Receive message "not enough memory to perform this operation.: Computer has 4g of memory! Microsoft says this is an unresolved compatability problem with Office 2003.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just replaced my 10-year-old PC and am trying to install Office Home and Student 2007 on my new Vista 64 machine. Unfortunately, whether I use the autorun or manually double-click setup.exe on the disc, nothing happens. I get an hourglass briefly, the disc spins in the drive, and setup.exe appears in the task manager for about three seconds then disappears. Nothing else happens.
I've downloaded every available update from Microsoft. I'm logged in as an administrator, I've tried to right-click on setup.exe and select run as admin from there, I've tried changing compatibility mode to XP SP2, and nothing seems to work.
I've been searching online for awhile now and can't find anything with regard to this issue. Has anyone seen this before? Or, can anyone give me some suggestions? I didn't anticipate any problems because I read in many places that Office 2007 runs fine on Vista 64, so I uninstalled Works and the free 60-day Office trial from my new PC before I tried to install the full version of Office to avoid conflicts. Unfortunately, I don't have access to Word or Excel now, and it's going to be a problem.
I'm trying to install Office 2003 as a precursor to installing an upgrade version of Office 2007. I previously installed it on another computer (now defunct) running XP Pro, and I had no trouble with it, but Vista Home Premium tells me I don't have the necessary permission to alter the registry. I have logged in as Administrator (at least I think I have) but I still run up against this brick wall. Looking at User Accounts in Control Panel, there is only one account - Administrator. Is there anything else I need to do to get complete access? It seems to me that Vista is trying to be extra-clever, and causing much weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth in the process.

When i click on setup, the user account control window appears asking for permission to setup, I press continue and then the setup window appears but then immediately closes. It doesn't even begin to install, I've tried running it running it as administrator, i've tried deleting previously installed applications that may have caused disruption and i've even tried installing them whilst in safe mode but nothing seems to work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHave to Remove Student Home Office 2007 Trial(non-commercial)first. Cannot remove through programs, Ccleaner or Revo Uninstaller. Somehow it mysteriously just went from "Trial" to "non commercial Trial"? I also had trouble when I originally installed the triall, they turned it off after a week, til I emailed them and they sent me a link. Probably Reman issue again, they probably thought I already had my trial period.
Getting same 1402 error as many others here...since I cannot uninstall through Programs...going by "Article ID: 928218"....tried 4 times. I should point out this is a reman computer and I did have Office 2000 on here before, before trying out the trial. May be some remnants left over. So there may also be possible remnants of Office 2000. Can I run the Installer Cleanup Utility(290301)after removing Office 2007, or will that mess up other programs? I'd rather not use it. What a mess....I know!................
A few minutes ago, a message popped up in the bottom right corner telling me to install Windows updates. I checked and found that Windows wants me to install between 386 and 423 MB of updates -- damn, that's about as much stuff as I have on my HD to start with. These are the updates listed:
-- Office 2003 SP1 -- but I don't run Office 2003 or any components thereof.
-- Microsoft .NET Framework SP1 and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update -- What is this?
-- 2007 Office SP1 -- Maybe I could use this one as I am running Office 2007.
I re-installed Windows Vista Home Premium x86 2 weeks ago. Before that I was able to get Service Pack 1 through Windows Update. Now I have not seen it in Windows Update. I thought Microsoft said by mid April it will automatically show up in Windows Update. It is almost May and I have not been able to get the Service Pack again. Also why is Windows Update telling me that I need to download and install Office 2003 Service Pack 3 when I don't have Office 2003 installed. I have Office 2007 installed so what does Office 2003 Service Pack 3 have to do with anything.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Windows HP with Vista Sp1 installed on my Black Viper tweaked pc and am very satisfied with its performance ; however I wish to install Win Vista SP2 and have run into major roadblocks. I have read through many suggestions on this topic but still no joy after a month or more of trying. Initially, the download would start, then stop after 99% was installed and revert back. Now when trying to install, I get a message that SP1 is not installed and I must install it first . SP1 is installed but I tried to reinstall it to no avail.
When trying to reinstall SP1 I get a message that SP1 is already installed, then the reinstallation stops.! Yet, my attempts to install SP2 tell me I must first install SP1. I have tried the SFC / SCANNOW and chkdsk /r repairs to no avail . I have also tried repairing my system with the Microsoft OEM HP installation disk but the repair does not address my issues. I do not wish to reinstall Vista from scratch since my system is working very nicely except for this glitch. I am chasing my tail and need some help with this problem.
I have an HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop that has repeatedly failed to install the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 since August 2008. I have installed KB947821-v4,v5,and v6 x86 updates to resolve this issue, but the sp1 update continues to fail. I have been on the phone with Microsoft for three days. I allowed them remote access to my laptop; they disabled firewalls, and virus and spyware protection, blocked startup programs, and they have had no luck either. I even tried to update in safe mode, but was unable to do so as well. I loathe Vista, and would like to use my upgrade to Windows 7 disc, but of course, the Windows 7 advisor tells me I cannot upgrade without the mythical and elusive Vista SP1 installed.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Vista Home Premium 64 Bit SP2 and cannot install iTunes.
Today I downloaded the newest version from Apple's web site. Installation proceeds normally for awhile then I get the error below (it appears in box labeled " iTunes + QuickTime".
Could not open key:
UNKNOWNComponentsDA42BV89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE87E577B2224C654E801A9E52375DB49. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
I navigated to the key (substituting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInstallerUserDataS-1-5-18 for UNKNOWN above) and found 3 instances of the key. 1 had data, 2 were empty. I deleted the 2 empty iterations. I had read about running regedit as an administrator and trying to change the permissions so that the owner was "adminstrators" instead of "system" but was unable to change the ownership (maybe because I have not uninstalled the older version of QuickTime that I used to get things working). Anyway I would like to install the 64 bit version of iTunes now but need to get past this problem. Additional info: I noticed that iTunes 64 bit selected as the install directory C:Program Files (x86) instead of C:Program Files. I have tried installing in each of these directories with the same results.
My system state is now that everything with iTunes in uninstalled with the exception of QuickTime 7.3.1 which I use to run a program that I use often.
I am experiencing a whole deal of difficulty running a clean install of vista ultimate x64.
Now upon install it seems to boot fine and get into the initial install setup of keyboard type (US etc...) and the selection of the OS, I select my HDD to install vista on and the installation goes away copying files and extracting files ... then upon the reboot to setup the rest of windows this is where it all goes terribly wrong, i have had several different errors and BSODs examples are below:
0x0000001a
0x00000024
0x00000034
0xc0000005
iqrl_not_less_or_equal
CACHE_MANAGER
BAD_POOL_HEADER
Now i have researched all the errors i have had show up and can define nothing in common with them all, I have removed the X-FI creative sound card, wireless kbd and mouse and gone back to basics, i have checked all my hardware and it IS compatible with x64 but still no luck.
My system consists of:
M/B - PN5-E SLI
PSU - Thermaltake tough power 1100W
CPU - Q6800 quad core
PGU - EN8800GTS x2
ram - 1G x4 kingston ddr2
HDD - WD 500G
i can get no replication of the error it just goes mental on the initial reboot after installing windows, and then reboots over and over, sometimes it gets further and gets back into windows but then i just get told the pc rebooted unexpectedly or the install was interupted to reboot and reinstall, i have tried to repair the half install but still no resolve (the even weirder thing was i tested vista ultimate x86 (32-bit) and all installs fine.
Once I put the CD in the 'Setup' comes on, I press Run, and then click Continue as it needs permission to open the CD..... and that's it. The programme will never open or show an option to install. If I right click onto the icon and click open or install nothing still happens. This is for all CD's that this happens to.

View 8 Replies View RelatedOriginally, I had Office 2003 installed in my computer, & a trial version of 2007 that had already expired.
Today I installed a full version of Microsoft Office 2007, without removing any of the other two versions from my computer. I realized that it seemed to automatically remove the older version. I`m not bother about it not being there, as I got the new version, but I wonder if this is an automatic uninstalling that Office does, or if the version is still there but I can`t see it, as I would like to remove it properly if it`s still somewhere in my computer.
I checked in Control Panel & the only thing I can see is "Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007", the full version I just installed, & everything that come with it. No 2003 anywhere.
I know you can do this document-by-document by opening each document individually and clicking "Upgrade" or whatever, but is there a way to convert all your Office documents at once?
