I have had the last update to nero 9 full for 6 months. I cannot use the burn engine in it because of "track following error" at end. I have read someplace that this could be a software disagreement between nero and sonic. Does anyone have some info on how to remove sonic burn engine from windows safely?
I'm running 32 bit Vista Ultimate with Service Pack One. I have a problem that is driving me batty. When I open Windows security center and try to turn on Windows Firewall I get a message stating: "Windows Security Center can't turn on Windows Firewall."
I attempt to turn on Windows Firewall manually but get the message: "Windows cannot start the Windows Firewall service." As per advice I saw on another thread on this forum (i believe) I opened a command prompt as an administrator and ran "SFC /scannow" several times. Each time I get the message:.........
I've got an apparently "broken" search installation. So that I can skip through the normal "click the folder you want to index" type of answers, it's way beyond that. Let me give some background first. This is a new installation of Vista x64 Ultimate on this machine. I just installed it a little over a week ago after I got a blue screen of death that wouldn't allow any type of system restore, etc on the prior install. My prior installation on that machine was a Vista Ultimate x32 bit. The prior installation had the OS on the C: drive and I had moved "My Documents" out of a Windows XP onto the D: drive (D:My DOcuments).
In that prior installation, I left all Music, Videos, documents etc. under the original layout and just pointed the Vista "music", "documents", etc folders to the sub folders. I had no problem indexing on my prior version. I have a Vista 64 bit Ultimate at work as well and IT has no problem indexing even under the default locations..........
I have always been able to burn CDs without a problem. It had been a while but a few days ago i had tried to burn a CD with windows media player using MP3s from my hard drive. first the error with windows media player is that it begins to write all songs without analysing which it used to do, the burn rate literally increases every second however before ti used to take some time and stay a couple of seconds in each percentage. in the end all songs will fail to burn as soon as one or two fail all the others do at once. the red x error only says check the drive is connected and to check the cd is not damaged. non of theres erros could be so as i have used two different batches of CDs and the drive reads CDs and can clone CDs with nero still.
when trying to burn with nero the only error which comes up states that the burn failed. the log is very lengthy however. if i go to device manager the drivers are upto date. this is a very strange problem as nero is able to copy original CDs but however no files from hard drive can be written to a CD as an audio CD for some reason.
i just bought a new pc with windows vista pre-installed with windows media player 11. when i burn a cd using windows media CENTER, it works fine. BUT, when i burn a cd using windows media PLAYER, it won't work anywhere! anyone have any idea as to what the heck is goin on?
My problem is when using windows media player to burn a music CD, where does it till you that the CD is full. In prier versions there is/was a time line stamp that would let you know how many songs you could put on that media and in third party burning software as well. So when using this software how do I know how many songs I cant put on the disc?
I want to do is search by date or type of software. Actually I am searching for a recently created word file. All any search engine does now is find a program when you know its name. If you know a programs name you generally know were it is so Vista's search engine is useless. Lets make it clear it doesn't even do that. On my H drive I have a file named Zahainya when I asked Vista to search my H drive for a file named Zahainya it comes up empty. Moreover Vista admits it searches slowly because it asked if it can index my files every time and I say yes and still the search is at least 5X slower then XP and it can't find anything anyway.
Although under both Firefox and Internet Explorer I am able to fully utilize websites with javascript, and seem to be able to run other scripts (installation and otherwise) with little difficulty, there are a minority of installation scripts that lead to the following window popping up and the script terminating:
WINDOW TITLE:
Windows Script Host
MESSAGE:
There is no script engine for file extension ".js".
POSSIBLE ACTIONS:
OK button only. When pressed, the action seems to terminate without completion.
From the original DVD, I created a smaller DVD image by using vLite, removing some of the features I do not need, in order to have a smaller Vista. Then I installed.
I removed the "Jet Database Engine" component also. The problem I'm having is that by removing this component I cannot get the setup of Visio 2007 properly complete. It stops and never completes.
It says: (translated from Italian) Error 1919... error during configuration of ODBC data source Visio Database Samples. Error ODBC 13... "
I just tested on a virtual machine that if I just remove with vLite the "Jet Database Engine" out from Vista, I get this error while installing Visio 2007.
Is there any solution to bypass the error or to separately install the "Jet Database Engine" withouth having to re-install all of the operating system ?
I have been having a problem with "Half Life 2 Engine" When ever I try to play CS:S (Why is this crashing because of HL2 Engine?) I start playing for awile everything is perfect and then a random crash. Vista tries to find the problem and comes up with this: Problem caused by Half-Life 2 Game Engine This problem was caused by Half-Life 2 Game Engine, which was created by Valve Corporation. Microsoft has been unable to contact the manufacturer and has no further information available at this time. How can I fix this? It's very annoying to randomly crash every little bit.
I am ashamed of myself, for what I did recently to my loyal Dragon Naturally Speaking speech engine. To properly suffer penitence, I feel I must offer myself up to one of andy t's long tirades. ....y'know, where he interminably carries on about the really important things in life, such as minor spelling errors.
Confession is good for the soul, so here is the shameful description of what I did to the loyal Dragon engine. I dictated my speech into the $200 version of the Dragon engine, but not just any speech. Complex medical terminology, such as: "perioperative transesophageal echocardiography"
Shameful, because the $200 version of the Dragon speech recognition software was never designed to handle such complex jargon. My dictation was roughly 600 words, roughly 1,479 syllables, which took me 7 minutes to dictate. If all the words were one-syllable words, that would be a dictation speed of 211 words per minute!
I'm trying to install Maya 8.5, it refuses to continue and pops up a dialog reads: "The InstallShield Script Engine is older than the version required. The installation couldn't be completed... please install the latest isscript.msi.
Multiboot (single drive 3 partitions) XP. vista, Windows 7. Since W7 doesn't see my wireless adapter, it's pretty useless. So how do I remove Windows 7 and reclaim that drive space, while leaving XP and Vista alone?
i have my own Security Set Up,how do i get rid of Windows Defender Permantly? i have never used it, i dont't seem to be able to remove it? is it part of Vista? also my startup programes are in it which seems to be the only way i can get to them is through Windows Defender?.
I have sent some e-mails using Craiglist. I probably have sent five or six by now. The address always starts out sale...etcetc. When I start to send an e-mail and the first letter of the name is s, all the addresses that I used in Craiglist show up. Since I wouldn't use these again, I want to delete them, but they don't show up in contacts. How can you delete these?
I haveWindows Home Premium 32bit and a serious problem with "Windows Defender"I once attempted to get rid of Windows Defender. The result is that my system starts with a warning saying that some programs were blocked. If I try to see which programs I get the following error "Impossibile inizializzare l'applicazione: 0x800106ba...".
I could not find a way to fix it.I search the windows site but their solutionsare not applicable since "Windows Defender" does not appear in the list of installed programs.
Therefore I cannot uninstall it. I also tried "msiexec /uninstall windowsdefender.msi /quiet /log uninstall.log" which does nothing usefull (empty log and no solution to the problem).
I have tried to reinstall but then it complains it is already installed. Is there a way to fix this problem without having to reinstall windows vista which in my case would mean a full format (I have a restoration vista cd which came with my laptop).
I am having a problem using POP3 and SMTP set up. Some times I need to use a website email t respond but getting too may error messages and unable to remove those as well. I prefer using my regular email gerdabrook@att.net I am familiar with but cannot with a website response email.
Suddenly out of no where a pop up box appears in the middle of all incoming E-mail "LIVE WINDOWS TALK" and I cannot remove it. Said box blocks all messages....how can I get this out of my life?
Would like the option to remove Windows Components like WMP or whatever. Mostly to get them off the shell/interface, but also to clear space and to organize the program files directory a bit better. Please bear with me I'm not that great with computers so I might not know all of the computer terms.
Okay so I wanted to make a DVD, I opened Windows DVD Maker, added the movies etc. But when i click Burn, a message pops up that says "The Disc in your DVD burner is not a recordable DVD. Please insert a recordable or rewriteable DVD." I attached a pic of the message, its stupid.bmp.
I am using Memorex DVD-R 4.7GB, so i know that the DVD can be used.
I tried burning with the Roxio programme that came installed already when i got my Laptop. It completed burning, but when I ejected the DVD, only a tiny strip was written. When I put the DVD in my dvd player it says Bad Disc and on the comp, it has a DVD picture with DVD-R underneath it, and it says DVD RW Drive (E: ) name of dvd. It tells me that i have 4.38GB of free space. i attached a pic of this because i dont think i explained it well, its disc.bmp
I dunno if this is important but my laptop is a Dell inspiron 1521. the system type is 32bit. I have Vista Home Premium
Under Device Manager, when I expand DVD/CD-ROM drives, PBDS DVD+-RW DS-8W1P ATA Device shows. I dunno if thats important either.
this is my first time burning a dvd so i dunno if it once worked.
i can read dvd's however, i can't burn dvd's, i've search for solutions but i've found none, hopefully i'll get one here. I throught the problem would be solved with a system restore, starting from scratch, i have tried roxio, nero and windows vista itself to burn my dvd none with success.
To burn an image and when i re-install vista for whatever reason, i could load that dvd and it'll take me back to the same settings, files, etc. Something like System Restore but it's not ( i think anyways ). I said 'might' as i'm afraid if i read it wrong. I can't even remember where i read it from. So, everything i just said, does it actually exists or i totally read it wrong?
No matter how many times I uncheck it from the start up in msconfig, it seems to find a way to re-check itself. Any suggestions on how to make it stay OFF!?
I set up my Vista installation so that I am administrator with all priviledges. I now have installed an old HDD and want to remove the Windows folder. Vista says that I don't have access. I have checked the attributes and nothing is read only. I also have tried the DOS prompt and DEL *.* How do I remove the folder??
I'm using Vista SP1. Okay, now to the question: Windows explorer in Vista has a "Favorite Links" panel at the top left. I currently don't see the need for it, and would like to make it go away, so that the folder tree has more space. How do I do that?
I am in Windows Defender attempting to remove or disable Startup Programs. When I click some programs, even though they are listed as 'permitted' I am unable to remove or disable them. The reason is that the remove and diable buttons do not highlight and are unlcickable. This does not happen for all Startup Programs. The offenders are Adobe Acrobat, iTunes, and Lenovo Registration.
An easy way to give your Windows Vista box a clean look is to remove the application labels on the taskbar. With a registry hack you can make your Windows Vista taskbar look similar to the Windows 7 icon only taskbar ...
