View 8 Replies View RelatedIt has the Windows Vista OS installed (an upgrade to 7 is available FOC). He is now using --> X-Mailer: Microsoft Windows Mail 6.0.6001.18000. He tells me .... "All your emails are coming through as "Malevolent and Phishing" and go to my junk mail box"! I'm certainly not Phishing - nor am I malevolent! I am, though, using an iMac with OS X 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard) and Apple Mail Version 4.2. Is there a setting in Vista which needs to be 'adjusted' so that my friend won't receive warnings on receipt of email messages from me?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've tried dozen of times to install this update, but always failed. I have even downloaded it manually from Microsoft website, but no luck. Any idea what might be causing the problem? Office SP2 and Vista SP2 installations worked as a charm, no issues. EDIT: This is the logfile I get: Description: An error report containing information about the updates that failed installation has been generated. Update for Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (kb970012) failed to install.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis keeps happening. Let me note that I never have missed paying a bill to Comcast. Why do people keep getting the messages they write to me back again? Here is what the most recent one said. "Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.

I'm using Windows Live Mail with Windows Vista and a Hotmail account. I'm getting these emails from postmaster@mail.hotmail.com and they are driving me crazy because I'm getting hundreds of them. I never even tried to send an email to these people, so I have no idea why I'm getting these emails. I thought I might have a virus or something, but I ran Mcafee, Spybot and Ad-aware and come up with nothing. It seems to only happy when I'm running Windows Live Mail and I don't get the emails when I'm not running it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI inadvertently said I was using an exchange server and now I am trapped in a never-ending cycle of error messages that will not let me change the server settings to the appropriate pop server. In XP you can go to: Control Panel/Mail/Email Accounts/View or Change Existing accounts, but this option doesn't seem to exist in Vista. Here are the messages I get and the outcomes, I've also attached a couple of screen shots. "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is Unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action." At the same time a smaller window is open that says "Configuring Outlook Accounts" The only options presented are to click "X" or "OK" to close the window, once this is done the Microsoft Exchange Window opens with the incorrect server name and account name that I typed in originally. If I try to delete them and click "apply" or "ok" or simply click "X" the following window message appears from Microsoft Outlook:
"Cannot open your default email folders. The file C:/Users/HP/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook/Outlook.ost is not an offline folder file." The options at this point are to click "X" or "Ok" once done the program closes. I have tried uninstalling Office and re-installing, but the Microsoft Exchange Server still remains. I am connected to the internet, all I want to do is change from Exchange Server to pop and supply the necessary pop and smtp information to set-up my email properly. I have been pouring over this for the better part of the day and what's worse is this is for my work email. I am in a remote office, on a laptop, without an IT guy at the moment.
Recently I moved two pieces of mail from my Inbox to a folder. There were 5 other pieces of mail in that folder and the count was 5. After moving the mail though the count went up to 7 but the mail did not appear in the folder. Is there any tool or any option or any edit in a folder and/or the Registry purhaps where I can straighten this out. It isn't imperative I recover the email but at a minimum I would like to fix the email count in the folder to be accurate once again. This is Windows Mail in Vista Ultimate 64-bit with all the Microsoft Updates.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust googled this forum and am so thankful it is out here! Here's my situation: I am in the Army and have an issue with file encryption. I am knowledgable in computers (OS's, software, hardware) but lack any encryption smarts! We recently updated to WIN VISTA Enterprise. We also log into each computer using our ID cards that contain our personal keys or codes on them in the form of a chip. Recently, DOD directed that all its computers will have an encrypted folder on the desktops and that all data with sensitive info. be placed into that folder. I complied with the regulation and proceeded to place my MS OUTLOOK.PST and personal email file.PST into the folder. The next day I went to replace my expired ID Card. I came into work, logged onto my laptop, and could not (and still cannot) access my personal email folder that is encrypted.
Several peeps from our D.O.I.M. (Directorate Of Information Management) have tried and now they tell me its locked forever because my old ID card was used to encrypt it. I have the old key available (the Army actually backed that up for me) and have tried accessing my personal email file using that key to no avail. (It was a lengthy process and I can't remember all the steps but we did use the old key but apparently it will NOT work with my new ID Card) Is there a way to decrypt this file? The Army is out of ideas!
I use Hotmail as my email provider. I have Windows Vista Home Prem. 64 bit.Everytime I reply or create a new outgoing msg. the msg. is automatically moved to the Drafts Folder after only 2-3min. Since I am a very slow typist and take time to research info it is not good for me. Can someone tell me how to lengthen the time to about 10 min. before it transfers the msg.?
View 8 Replies View RelatedEmails are sent and arrive in my Windows Mailbox fine. I then create a folder and drag them to that folder no problems. When I create a subfolder however, and start dragging emails into the subfolder I find that the 1st email is fine but every subsequent one has been corrupted. That is to say that in each case the email content is erased and replaced with a duplication of the 1st email in that subfolder. Go figure. The email titles don't change so if you open the subfolder you
wouldn't realise what has happened.
It is only when you open each successive email that it becomes apparent that the content of every email has become identical. *Windows Mail folders: 1 email duplicates itself over all others in a folder, thereby erasing email content of all others* This was previously posted by two others and I have exactly the same problem.
I have got Auslogics Defrag program and after each defrag I do it tells me I have a number of junk files, at present 971 sometimes its way over 1000 and I then do a disk cleanup hoping to get rid of them, but after installing another game or program of some sort, again I am told I have several junk files.
I would like to know how I can get rid as it also tells me that they can slow the PC down and lessen performance, not that my PC is a slouch, far from it, but I still don't like the idea of junk files on my PC and would like for once to sort this out, as before I have never taken any notice of it, perhaps I should have, but thats me, untidy as always!
On occasions I receive email that when I right click on and select Junk

This is my second time around testing Vista ultimate 64 bit and after much testing I cannot believe what a heap of absolute rubbish this OS is. How many years did it take Microsoft to develop this junk? I have the latest drivers/software/ quad core intel 6700 CPU with a modern motherboard and running 8GB of RAM. Yeah....I anticipate that you are all screaming and tearing your hair out and gnashing your teeth because I have told the truth about this piece of OS junk.
Vista Ultimate will not remain stable if you load and use a substantial amount of software on your computer. Yet both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of XP Pro are relatively stable. I am a business man and I can tell you that vista is unreliable and a total waste of money. In fact microsoft should pay anyone to use this piece of rubbish and the amount of time wasted attempting to trace down problems.....
I thought I would download the new Ubuntu 8.04 and give it a try because all the Ubuntu nut jobs were saying how cool Ubuntu is with their new release. I installed Ubuntu on my machine. I tried Open Office Spreadsheet. I thought I would try to enter a Macro then run it. I then had to install Java to be able to run a macro. If I didn't know that I needed to use Synaptic to figure out how to get the Java update, I would be screwed along with many others who try this crap. Just FYI
OK, so Java installs. BFD. It works but it isn't that good. Now, lets play some music. I navigated to bobrivers.com to play a tune. I was prompted to install some more updates. Fine. Did that. The install went OK. Then I had to install a couple more updates. That went fine. Now I clicked on the song to play and the page just froze.
No wonder why Ubuntu is such a piece of crap. Can't play a simple tune from a web page. Now in Vista, I could navigate right to the page, play the song and I would be as happy as a clam in a whorehouse.
