View 5 RepliesMy computer has a bootup probllem but I want to try to save the files on it's harddrives. I have 3 computers.
1. The new one, HP, that won't boot with Windows Vista and 2 SATA harddrives.
2. An older HP with IDE hardrive and XP and with a DVD burner.
3. An older Emachine with a IDE harddrive without a DVD burner.
I am trying to figure out the cheapest way to do this or without having to buy adapter cables so I can burn the files to DVD and then reinstall Vista on the New machine - 1. So, would it be possible for me take the harddrive out of the Emachine and install that in computer ONE -- and then install Vista on that.. and then burn the files on my SATA harddrives to DVD? Can the harddrives from the Emachine work in computer ONE - the HP Vista SATA machine? Or is it not compatale?
I'm a Vienamese student. My family bought a new PC two months ago.It has a giga G31m main and an E4600 core 2 duo 2.4 ghz chip.It worked well until recently I install windows vista x86 again. At first,It took me about 15 seconds to start working. But after I installed Mz vista force and Netspeeder,It begined taking me over 1 min to load window although I have restored window to the time before(the long green button runs for 25 times!)I'm very tired of waiting for vista loads as well as ireinstall it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI used to have Windows XP on this PC and I have recently replaced it with a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Since then my computer will no longer reboot. When I click start > restart it will shut down like it should, then it will go to the POST screen and from there it goes black and nothing happens (where it would normally load windows). I have taken out my C: drive and put it in another PC and it worked perfectly. I have a C and D drive which are both 2 separate hard disks and always worked fine in XP. How can I fix this? They are both IDE. I have to now power off the PC and power it on again to restart.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi have windows vista on my machine, i must have installed some software that has messed up my system, i keep getting the blue screen. everytime when i reset the machine, i have to press f8 then select that option: last known configuration'. this is the only way to start it, otherwise the blue screen appears.I feel that the only way to stop all this, is by doing a system reboot where my hard drive will be formatted and installs the OS from scratch.i orginally upgraded vista from XP when i have a student account with my univeristy, but then i had to pay approx ??200 for a new product key but i have not got a vista CD.
View 7 Replies View RelatedVista Home Prem x64 Raid 1 config, I had a failure of some sort that caused the system to fail to reboot. I booted the system from the Vista CD and performed a repair. Now, I am prompted to choose the Operating System in the in the Boot Manager. I now have 2 files, Windows Vista Home and Windows Vista (tm) Home Premium (recovered). If I choose the NON-recovered file the machine will not boot. If I choose the (recovered) file the machine boots and operates fine. I went to System maintenance and changed the default boot system to the (recovered) file. Now, when I reboot it still goes to the Boot Manager screen and waits a while before it finally boots to the (recovered) file. I would like to repair this machine to the way it used to work and not have the machine go thru the boot manager screen. I would also like to know how the (recovered) operating system got installed in the first place. How can I remove the defective one safely and return system to normal state?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am considering installing a second operating system on my computer. I am currently running Vista HP x64, which is great, but I would still like to have the simple Windows XP available just for the sake of accessibility. I already have a bit of an idea how I would go about this, but I haven't done it before. When I installed Vista, I didn't notice if it gave me the option to customize the size of the Windows partition Vista was to be installed on like other versions of windows do during installation. I'd like to know from someone who is running multiple OS's how to configure my hard drive's partitions so that xp can be installed as well. Should I uninstall Vista and install xp on half then put vista on again or do I have other options like virtual computer (of which I know nothing and heard about on another site). Anything I should know?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Dell studio XPS 1640 about a week ago. It ran perfectly until 2 days ago. Now when I turn on the computer it takes forever. When it finally gets running the HDD light on the case is always on and it runs very slowly. If the computer has been on for several hours the light turns off and it runs fine. But when I restart it does the same thing over again. I thought it might be indexing or something along those lines but didnt know how to find out.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI need to reboot my Vista Ultimate (I know how to do this, I'll use the Recovery CD that came with my laptop), but I don't want to lose the files on my hard drive. I also have no way to access my hard drive at the moment (I tried restarting and pressing F8 and all I got was the message I initially got, below).
I got impatient at my ASUS M51 T9500 laptop freezing, so I pressed the "On/Off" button for a long time, got the computer to turn off and then pressed "On" again. The computer started, but Vista wouldn't come up. I got this error message, which I keep getting when I do "Ctrl Alt Delete" (I don't know why I tried that, I just hoped it would help) and when I restarted and pressed F8: Windows Boot Manager. Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert the Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, then click "next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."
My firebox browser launches after about 3 mins after i click on it, and this suddenly started happening after it got upgraded to 3.6.3 ( i guess so).

At system startup up Windows Explorer crashes sometimes and while playing Adobe Flash Movies from a CD I got an Blue Screen Error after I restarted the computer in Safe Mode with Net Support and now I am writing this post; the computer booted faster in safe mode without Kaspersky AV and ATI CCC.
After boot the windows reported that the cause of unexpected error was Intel Matrix Storage Manager(iaStor.sys)? I have used Uniblue Driver Scanner 2009 to scan the drivers and update them as necessary recently. How can I find out if there is any driver conflicts or cluster on the main drive? I have SP1 installed with 4GB physical RAM whose only 3070 MB can be used and have the latest drivers avaible for my GPU and the latest BIOS for my MOBO. I also experience lack of performance while displaying desktop, executing a program. Furthermore I want to know how can I access Boot logs manually.
I have the following issue and hope that somebody can give me a hint about what might be going on! My system has two raid 1 arrays - one is running on XP Professional SP3 the other one is running on Vista x64 Ultimate SP1. When I start my virtual machines (either from the Virtual PC console or when double-clicking the *.vmc files) than everything is working fine on XP and the virtual machines are booting and running as expected. However, on Vista the following is happening (and I hope somebody has an idea):
1. Starting the Virtual machines from the console leads to an immediate reboot of my host machine (I can't even see any boot screen of the virtual machine - it is like clicking start in the VPC console -- > reboot of host).
Now I tried the following:.........
My Vista build pauses at random times. Generally the mouse can be moved and various windows can be minimized/maximized but that is about it.
I have tested the hard drives with chkdsk. I have tested the memory. I have disabled all startups in msconfig. All drivers are up to date. System is running Vista SP1.
It is in an unbootable state right now. I am posting from another computer. After apparently downloading and beginning the upgrade, it just stops, with a message sort of like: !! 0xc09000 HelpPane.exe !! on the screen. I am actually not sure of the numbers; only the HelpPane.exe part and the double exlaimation points.

( this thing stopped working mid Nov) and I cannot do a system restore as HORRID VISTA will only let you go back ONE month NOT LIKE xp where you can pick any calendar date as a restore point. I am scared to do a system restore as I think I might create even MORE PROBLEMS than I already have. DO I go back to the date closest to today or go back a full month if I try a system restore..??? I don't want to lose restore points if I need them later....

1.How can I change the directory name or folder to my desired name : C:...alias....I wanna rename it with my name to replace alias?
2.I have Avast antivirus program the case is my Security Center can not detect any antivirus installed on my computer how to verify that I have antivirus monitored?
3.I got a little matters to discuss I had Revo Uninstaller and I'm very happy to have it but yesterday when I processed evidence remover it may be an hour or so but when I check it again it already 100% and keep increasing to 101...102....106%!! whatta and when I check on my disk it also reducing the memory from 199 Gb free of 225 Gb to 56 Gb!!! I keep do nothing until the disk turns red then I stoped it and it back to normal 199 Gb! it may be no big deal but I just want to know why did that happen?
4.I got Mozilla Firefox 3 and sometimes when I open a new tab it stop for 2or 3 second than continue as usual I got a few add-ons installed is that a cause ? or other cause to make Mozilla and my internet connection via CDMA modem take longer than usual?attention this is only a little question among many more question Iwould like to discuss here in Vista because I think here is the absolute right place to do it!!
I want to disable ALL security on my Vista System. I don't want any passwords. I want every file visible/readable/writable/executable by ANYBODY who happens onto my network.
I don't want any firewalls. I don't want any antivirus. I don't want any automatic updates of any kind to anything. I don't want any popups asking for permission to do anything. I'd rather not have all the bloat and duplication in folders for different users. I want a single-user system and to be administrator of all things. Yes, I'll put some tiny subset of this back with third-party tools THAT I CONTROL. I've been poking around fixing up one issue after another...but it's a task. Is this info all in one place? Or better yet, a magic incantation to remove ALL of it in one fell swoop?
I have an hp desktop that came with vista home premium preinstalled. It will not boot up now. So I tried the emrgency recovery disks that I was told to createwhen I first got the computer and they didn't work. I thought I would have to boot from windows vista disks to repair this. No Vista disks came with the computer. My question is can I buy the upgrade SP1 disk to both improve the system and resolve the boot problem or am I forced to get the Full system
