Logitech Webcam, A "Z-board, WoW Eddition" Can Supported Vista
Oct 14, 2007
I am trying to decide whether to get the 64 bit version or 32 bit version of vista, or just go for windows XP.This is the current setup of my going to be ordered computer (ordering it next week)....cd/dvd writer/reader: Pioneer DVR-112DBK OEM DVD Burner - 18x DVD±R Burn, 16x DVD±R Read, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 10x DVD±R DL, 40x32x CD-R/RW, Black, with Software I also have a logitech webcam, a "Z-board, WoW eddition" and a PSP to consider. My question is simple...will Vista 64bit version support these? If not, will the 32bit version support this setup? And finally, if no for both, what should i really change in my build for the comp? (Don't really think that getting windows XP is a good idea,

I have bought a Logitech webcam from a relative. there was no cd or manual with it. I thought by just pluging in the webcam via usb port, it would work. When i logged onto msn and tried it out, there was nothing going through although it said it was connected.

I recently installed a beta version (build 7000) of this O.S. The installation went very well and on a previously formatted disc, completed in 20 minutes. All of my Vista software was installed without problems. I realise that this a beta version, and as such may be subject to quite a number of improvements and bug fixes during the next few months. My initial impression though is that this a good system, but not very much better than Vista. There is an on board defragmentation tool, which operates automatically, in addition to spectacular new desktops, but overall it looks more like the result of a Vista service pack. Being quite satisfied with my currentVista ultimate, I am at this stage definitely not prepared to spend money again on this "new" operating system as soon as it appears in the shops.

I've tried everything to get my games to run smoothly on Vista, and nothing seems to work very well. Its not so much as my computer sucks, cause when I downgraded to XP, just to try it out, my games were running perfectly smooth. And don't say, "Just stick with XP then!" cause I love Vista in its many other ways.
The only reason I can come up with as to why my games run much slower on Vista is because Vista is a DirectX10 supported OS, but has a DirectX9 "emulator". And since all my games, and video card are DX9 compatible, it runs in the emulated mode. Now we all know running emulators makes our computers run a bit slower, so thats the only solution I can come up with.
Well I know alot of others have had this problem, and Microsoft knows its a problem, so they have said, and I've been told that Vista SP1 would fix that. Well I downloaded SP1 RC Refresh, yet nothing seems to have changed at all...
So heres my questions - Do you guys feel that because its a DX10 supported OS, and im running DX9 software/hardware, that thats a reason why my games run slower? Also what do you guys think on Vista SP1 RC Refresh?

I know after running the Vista advisor that the old Sonic Software DLA was not supported by Vista, so uninstalled all "Known" versions of it before upgrading from XP SPF3 to Vista Ultimate SPF1, but somehow and Sonic/Roxio support has been of no help, I still have a component of DLA that is being Blocked every Logon. This is an anoyance and a nuisance , not like the BSOD issues, but have tried 2 different MS Fixit routines so far and each one has cripled my system, requiring a Reboot / Repair, so No more Auto Fixes. If anybody has an answer "Other than Delete the DRVMCDB.Sys file", and reboot. I have googled it and other forums have tried to sell "Driver Doctor", etc. but nothing I see as usefull. All other systems are fine and the drive works

I get this message in the Problem Reports and Solutions window: The problem was caused by Windows Vista, which was created by Microsoft Corporation. You are running a beta version of Windows Vista, which is no longer supported by Microsoft Corporation. I've clicked on the website to upgrade which is what it tells me to do but it just takes me to a page to buy an upgrade - is this right?

I was enjoying a glass of wine the other evening, and I spilled a full glass of wine onto the keyboard of my Toshiba Satellite which had Windows XP. I killed it DEAD. Anyway, I went to town (I live in the bush) and bought a new Toshiba Satellite laptop. When I got home I found it had Vista in it. No matter how much I tried, I cannot get it to perform like any of the other Toshiba sattelites that I have had over the years with XP in them. (this is my own personal observation). "happy days" I found XP software on Ebay for only au$60 so I bought it. I am not really computer "savvy" but I struggle through. I cannot get the computer to download the new XP program, it keeps telling me that I cannot download something old onto something new.

I can't figure out how to turn the computer off using only the key board. In previous windows, it was Windows/U/S , or maybe Windows/U/U. With Vista, I seem to have to use the mouse, or the infernal laptop touch pad, to get to, then click on, an arrow which displays a list, which requires the use of the touch pad again, because the list has no accelerator keys. 4 steps, each more complicated than one letter, where one keyboard letter used to do.
Also, I don't have them side by side, but it seems that when playing Solitaire, it took longer to turn over each set of 3 cards, than it did for me on WinXP or Win98, and I'm sure the Vista CPU is faster than the others I've used. (It's a Toshiba Satellite laptop, which came with Vista installed, but I don't know the speed.

Yesterday I believe an update came when I stepped away from my pc for about 45 minutes. I had been able to use the pc up until then when the mouse and key board froze. I attempted to reboot and could not. 95 errors posted in the event log. Most these where WMI (source) and the event ID was 24. I cannot find a solution, and I am not that well knowing a lot. I can probably make the corrections if I have a solution given to me.

I an using Vista Ultimate SP1 on a Gigabyte mobo with a Q6600 CPU but cannot use more than two slots on the memory board. I run nicely if I populate two of the slots with 1GB matched memory but the minute I populate the other two slots with the same brand of matched 1GB memory boards, I get a BSOD. Is this a Vista problem? If I use either of the mobo slots to test the memory (provided its not more than 1 GB each) they both work. The mobo is GA-EP35C-DS3R.

I play MMO's so I figured it would be a handy addition to my set up. Much to my dismay, it freezes basically any and every game that it touches. Sometimes (and only sometimes) the "unplug it and plug it back in when the game is loaded" work around actually works, but it is rare. I would love for my keyboard to just actually work without having to jump thru hoops each time I wanted to do something. Also, turning off all the extra drivers for it, well that kind of defeats the purpose of using it if i kill the drivers for it's monitor and macro keys

Still trying to pinpoint what exactly stopped my SP1 installation and caused it to fail. "Additionally, Windows Update will not offer Windows Vista SP1 tocomputers together with the Logitech QuickCam that uses the Lvuvc.sys device drivers (all versions). Microsoft has detected a flaw in the Windows Vista Ks.sys file that can cause a critical stop during Windows Vista SP1 installation if this device driver file is installed. An update to Ks.sys is being created that resolves this
issue."
I have a logitech webcam, but i don't find this driver on my system, at least not by doing a start/search for it. I also have a CL audigy SE sound card, but the 2 drivers listed as problematic, don't show up in a start/search. Someone else mentioned that they have an Audigy Card and had no problems installing. has anyone had a problem with SP1 because of a logitech webcam? has anyone installed SP1 WITH a logitech webcam?

I "upgraded" from 32bit XP, to Vista x64. Now, my system is plagued with a mainboard that auto-throttles when its chipset hits 45C temps. As a result, until I can figure out how to get a little more cooling into it, I've temporarily underclocked my CPU to 2600mhz(x2) from 3000mhz. Or, at least, I -was- doing that, before Vista SP1.
Now, no matter what I set, or how I set it, it seems to get reset to 100% If I use Vista's own power scheme settings, I can make it run at 85% max 5% min, and it saves, goes a while, maybe 10 to 15 minutes, then I notice the system is auto-throttling again. I check, and sure enough, it's set back to 100% max, 100%min.
If I use AMD OverDrive, the same thing happens.. I set to 13x multiplier, and drop the voltage a bit. 10-15 minutes later, It shows my "Desired Settings" still, and they have to be re-applied.

Anyone happen to still be using a Logitech MX500? Before I start looking for a new mouse, I'd like to know if the "Cruise" functionality works without Mouseware (which isn't supported under Vista). Setpoint doesn't support this device AFAIK.I know that there are other ways to "fast scroll" around, but none of them offer the same speed of scrolling or ease-of-use.

I was given a pair of Logitech Z-10 USB Speakers. I'm running Vista 64. I've never seen a USB speaker system....Not sure how they work. Will I have problems with these speakers? Will they use my sound card? Do they put a heavier load on the CPU than a sound card? I've downloaded the latest 64bit drivers, but they are dated '07, so I'm not sure if I want to try these.

Since I have moved from Outlook Express to VISTA Windows Mail whenever I try to past from the clipboard into an e-mail I am composing it automatically changes any foriegn language fonts characters to all English characters. I would then have to highlight each foriegn language phrase and then select the language font from the font menu. I should not have to do this if Window Mail would retain the original fonts from the clipboard or other document program I am pasting from. How can I
resolve this problem.

I am having trouble with the Logitech gadgets for the Windows sidebar. I have ensured that the software for my Wireless Wave Logitech keyboard/mouse is up to date and also that Windows is up to date and I have run McAfee anti virus scans and Superantispyware and nothing untoward has been found. I have been trying to download and install the Caps lock gadget which used to work but no longer does. I have tried reinstalling it and rebooting several times but to no avail. I got in touch with Logitech who advised me to update SetPoint which I did , still didn't work so they very kindly sent me this new wireless keyboard/ mouse combo but the gadget in the sidebar still doesn't work. I also tried the battery monitor gadget and that doesn't work either.
