I downloaded some new Mac fonts and I want to change the default font in Vista to one of them. I can't do that via Appearance>Advanced, because there's a limited variety of fonts to choose from.
I need to choose between these 2 systems: 1. comes with an Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz dual core processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 320GB SATA II hard drive and Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
2. comes with Pentium 4 CPU, 3.2 GHz, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 320GB SATA II hard drive and Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
I'm trying to use a VPN connection and it works fine if I'm using my wired connection, however if I'm on my wireless network at home, the VPN connection does not work unless I disable the ethernet card.
I talked with Asus cause i wanted to buy a HD For my Notebook. So, they said it would work fine, but it would get too hot, and that i should buy a cool pad for my computer. Which Coolpad should i choose? I want one that is very powerful, and that works great to cool the computer.
I got a problem with my resolution, I cant choose higher than 1024x768. I have uninstalled/reinstalled, cleaned all drivers both for my screen and video card, nothing works. When I have uninstalled my grapich card i can choose higher res, but when I reinstall it, it will set back to 1024x768. I have looked all over but cant find anyone with the same problem..........
how come i cannot choose recipients when sending emails. it has happened before and i uninstalled an update (can't remember the update ). however, that update is not installed and now i cannot choose recipients, nor can i add a new contact to my contacts folder.
I have a unused Audigy 2 ZS, and my mobo has Realtek ALC888 7.1 HD sound onboard...
Considering the following : - I want to do Photostory3 and Windows Movie Maker stuff high quality - I would still like to be able to play games like Ghost Recon, COD2 and Far Cry with surround sound. - I want the best performance, and the least headaches...
Which one should I use, the Audigy 2 ZS (and alchemy for EAX support) or the onboard (will I still have non-EAX surround in older games, and will it use too much my CPU for video editing?)...
I have single user, home computer running Vista Home Premium (32 Bit). My e-mail usage level is fairly low. (About 15 - 20 per day.) Right now, I have two e-mail systems on my machine namely Windows Mail and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. I am looking for advice on which one to use. Windows Mail appears to be the simpler one and would satisfy my requirements but I do not wish to use it if it is likely to be discontinued in the near future.
When I start windows home premium on a new pc for the first time should i get an option to choose the installation language? I bought a pc in germany and the start up failed i got an error message in an endless loop i got it to start with the recovery disc but that has set it to German and i cant change it. Can anyone confirm or not that if the set up had run correctly i should have been offered the option to set up in English. if this is the case i can go back to the manufacturer and complain.
This may be a Office 2007 question. I use Windows Fax & Scan and Outlook 2007. I am unable to choose a recipient from Outlook 2007 Contacts correctly to use in Windows Fax & Scan. When I click on the To: Button in Windows Fax & Scan I only get three columns shown. Name, Display Name and E-mail Address. If the intended recipient does not have an email adress their name does not appear. What am I setting up incorrectly. I can not see an option in Windows Fax & Scan. Is it a Outlook setting.
ive got a 64 bit system with hard drives c: and D: each with 125gig of ram. Vista is installed on C: but how do i access the 125gig free space on D:, When ever i download it always goes to C: without giving me the option to download to D: Sorry if this is a noob question
I've downloaded several stationaries from the Window's site. It's taken me forever to find where Vista downloaded them. Why can't I choose where the files are downloaded? It gave me no option to do this.
After having my computer crashing - for whatever reason - i took it in to have all important documents (work stuff) that i needed transfered to an external hard drive.
I was informed to re install Vista, and that all my information will be lost.
When i did this, i did not reformat the drive, so it saved all the other stuff in a folder titlled windows.old.
I respoke to the person who assisted me, and told him of the issue that i am having which is:
Choose operating system to start or press tab to select a tool ...
I need to install SR2 for Access 97 on Vista - Home Basic. While Access 97installs fine, there's a known problem installing SR2 on Vista. Theworkaround that I've come across involves temporarily replacing four Vistafonts (comic.ttf, comicbd.ttf, tahoma.ttf, and tahomabd.ttf) with thoseversions which come with SR2. This reportedly allows SR2 to be installed, after which the four Vista fonts are copied back to the Windows/Fontsfolder.
This procedure begins with copying those four Vista fonts to a temporaryfolder. I am unable to do this, however. If I use cntrl-c to copy andcntrl-v to paste, nothing is pasted into the temporary folder. If I right-click on the font, the Copy command is not available. If I use Edit/Copy and Edit/Paste, nothing is pasted into the temporary folder. Vista will not allow full privileges for these fonts, even though I'm signed on as Administrator.
i have a problem with my vista home premium sp1...i have arun window and other window that the font is now different..its bold and its not the same anymore...i did the appearncae style, system font and nothing worked.
I cannot remove a file called tahoma. I guess this is the font that Vista uses? I recently installed Left 4 Dead and later uninstalled it. There was one folder named fonts that didn't got deleted. It contained fonts like arial, verdana and tahoma. I managed to delete all of them in safe mode except tahoma.
I know that you shouldn't delete fonts that the system is using but there is something wierd because it's not in my "fonts folder" from the controlpanel. And the fonts that I deleted succefully (verdana and arial etc.) is still in that folder, tahoma is also there so that's why I'm guessing that I could delete that the tahoma font in my left 4 dead folder without it causing my system any problems.
The huge number of fonts supplied with my version of Vista (don't know if they're all the same) makes for a very long list in the font box of most of my programs. In there are a WHOLE bunch of international fonts for languages I'll never need. But the system doesn't want to let me move them out of there into some other storage folder and/or delete them - it says I need permission. I looked at the security settings for those files and they are currently owned by "trusted installer". Administrators can't move or delete these files. As administrator, I can grant myself the permissions to let me move them. there is a warning message about possibly making harmful changes to the system. Is there any danger in doing this? Otherwise, any way to mask these fonts without uninstalling them?
Chris Pirillo has written a useful little reg hack that allows you to remap all of the fonts used in the Explorer interface to the new Segoe UI font. Make sure you make a backup of your registry before trying this one! ...
Im the admin on my PC. There is a limited user account. I want to set permissions for certain folders such that they cannot 'cut' or 'delete' the files. Please help me with the settings. I have tried rightclick>>Security but i dont know to proceed further.
I know there are several threads like this on the vista forums, but the postmaster recommended a new thread so i am kindly obliging. I have the same ****ty problem many before me have had. One peeerty day I turned on my Vista comp, and all of a sudden my wireless connection had stopped working. Limited or no connectivity was the message I got. So I fired up my notebook, running with XP - same thing. Limited or no connectivity. Only when I did diagnose problem on my XP it did precisely that. and the problem was gone............
I have 2 laptops that are running Vista and get this message numerious times. I also have 2 Windows XP pc's on the same network. Why do the Vista pc's keep having this issue. My Linksys wireless router is setup with no restictions so I can get this problem fixed.
I'm on Vista Ultimate x32. I connect to my internet wirelessly using a Linksys USB adapter. When I'm downloading something my internet stops working, downloads top and it says limited or no connectivity - so I have to disconnect from the network, unplug the USB Adapter and then re-plug it in and then it connects.
My Packard Bell EasyNote MX37-U-05 (Running Vista Home premium) was working fne on a wireless network through a BT Wireless home hub. It did automatic updates and since then has connection problem reporting "limited Connectivity" what does this mean and how can I cure this problem? It seems to be the same if I connect through the Wireless or direct on the hub Lan connection.
I have an old machine running Win2K and a new laptop running Vista. Both machines are in a workgroup. The Vista machine can see itself, the Win2K machine and the router. owever, the Win2K machine can see only itself. Can someone tell me if Microsoft did this purposely to encourage people to migrate to Vista? Everything seems to be configured properly. If someone can tell me how to check out things thoroughly,
I m trying to resolve limited internet connectivity via ICS. My Vista 64bit Ultimate notebook connects directly to a wireless network, from which it gets internet connectivity. I can visit any webpage and see all network devices, so things seem to be working great on the server side.
My other computer, the ICS client, runs 32bit XP pro and is set up to connect to the internet through my notebook. Between the two PCs is a spare buffalo WHR-HP-G54. I can see all network devices, but it fails to connect to most websites. It will display Google and *some* pages from Time Warner Cable, but I cannot get to Wiki pages, my favorite forums, or download updates for anything on my desktop PC. Based on the status bar of my browser, which usually gets as far as "Transferring data from ", it seems the communication problem is limited to incoming streams........
I don't fully understand the use of an extended desktop - when I extend my desktop on the external monitor all I get is the background picture from my desktop...can i get anything else on this, am I just being simple? (mirrored monitors works fine)
After I shared my C drive on a network it was working fine. I then unshared it but something went wrong and said the hard drive would be in a mixed state if i didn't continue the operation fully. i ignored it(idiot) and carried on. but now i cant access my C drive directly but i can access my documents. i was thinking i would just system restore it but i cant even access that and i cant back up my files either. but i can access them. I have tried changing permissions in the security tab of c drive but it wont let me stating that access is denied and i have tried to enable the guest account but it wont even open up the window to do so.
