I'm trying to use a VPN connection and it works fine if I'm using my wired connection, however if I'm on my wireless network at home, the VPN connection does not work unless I disable the ethernet card.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled, cleaned all drivers both for my screen and video card, nothing works. When I have uninstalled my grapich card i can choose higher res, but when I reinstall it, it will set back to 1024x768.
I have looked all over but cant find anyone with the same problem..........
how come i cannot choose recipients when sending emails. it has happened before and i uninstalled an update (can't remember the update ). however, that update is not installed and now i cannot choose recipients, nor can i add a new contact to my contacts folder.

I have single user, home computer running Vista Home Premium (32 Bit). My e-mail usage level is fairly low. (About 15 - 20 per day.) Right now, I have two e-mail systems on my machine namely Windows Mail and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. I am looking for advice on which one to use. Windows Mail appears to be the simpler one and would satisfy my requirements but I do not wish to use it if it is likely to be discontinued in the near future.

I bought a pc in germany and the start up failed i got an error message in an endless loop i got it to start with the recovery disc but that has set it to German and i cant change it. Can anyone confirm or not that if the set up had run correctly i should have been offered the option to set up in English. if this is the case i can go back to the manufacturer and complain.

I am unable to choose a recipient from Outlook 2007 Contacts correctly to use in Windows Fax & Scan. When I click on the To: Button in Windows Fax & Scan I only get three columns shown. Name, Display Name and E-mail Address. If the intended recipient does not have an email adress their name does not appear. What am I setting up incorrectly. I can not see an option in Windows Fax & Scan. Is it a Outlook setting.

I was informed to re install Vista, and that all my information will be lost.
When i did this, i did not reformat the drive, so it saved all the other stuff in a folder titlled windows.old.

The problem is that the folder customization / layout never stays the way you set it, even minutes later after closing/re-opening explorer. This is driving me insane. For example, in explorer under Computer I choose large icons. Close, re-open its back to list view instead. Sometimes other folders will somehow change views by themselves too. This is really annoying.

View 8 Replies View Relatedi am running window 7 and vista. vista is on a 250 hard drive. window 7 is on a 500 hard drive. now to change window i turn my pc off. and change the red cable from drive to drive. now what i like to know is. if i connect the 2 red cable on the 2 drive do i get to choose window on boot up. or do i need a special program to make it work. now it is with 2 drive not a single drive .

(Though that doesn't mean one hasn't been posted; my searching skills may just be crappy.) Regardless, has anyone had this, or a similar issue, occur? Or does anyone know how to add your own "details" to choose from so I can get it back manually? I saw this: Folder Size for Windows Explorer. I probably need something along those lines, but for the size option instead... my computer is not holding it's internet connection, even when i refresh it just wont reconnect and i end up having to restart and then the connection is fine. I'm running Vista Home Premium, Defender, ZoneAlarm (free) and Avast (free). Broadband connection. is there anyway to secure the connection permanently (which it should be) Have i, a setting wrong? View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having the worst problems connecting using a cable connection, which I need because as I am in Europe at the moment, many sites or private homes are not equipped with wireless. Now, when I connect with cable, everything seems to be working fine, the Toshiba connectivity doctor tells me I am connected, the diagnose program assures me that the problem has been resolved etc. etc. and yet whenever I try to connect (IE, Mozilla, Google, I have tried them all), I get an error screen. I have tried everything I could think of, checking my settings etc. Nothing works.
Let me emphasize that:
1) wireless connection works fine
2) it is a problem with my computer, not the host, since I have encountered
the same problem everywhere (libraries with password protected access,
private homes without password protected access etc.).
I installed SP2 for Vista when it came out. I created a new user account today. I opened Windows Media Player 11 and it started with Welcome to Window Media Player 11 for Vista window. It wants me to Choose the initial setting... Express or Custom. I can pick either one and the Finish button appears. I try click on the finish button, but nothing happens... the button doesn't animate to show it=E2=80=99s been clicked on. View 4 Replies View RelatedI Have Windows Vista OEM 32 bit that came on my computer. I noticed that the full retail version of ultimate includes the 32 and 64 bit install. With the anytime upgrade to ultimate can I choose between the 32 and 64 bit vista ultimate? I do realize that I would have to do a clean install of the 64 bit OS. I would like to try the 64 bit version but would also like to be able revert back to the 32 bit if the 64 bit doesn't work out. If I can't then the 32 bit version it is as I need to join a domain.........

I can't find an option anywhere to get rid of this, nor is it showing me the "extract" options anymore when I right click. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem. I have AOL broadband and I'd like to connect to the internet without using the infamous bloated AOL software. I know how to do that using Vistas' "set up connection or network" wizard and I can successfully log in using by username and password. The problem is the connection is very poor when I use this method. The speed tests show the correct speed and downloads are full speed but pages seemingly randomly do not load (for long stretches of several minutes). For example my home page does not load ("page cannot load" error), google does not load, some pages load but not fully with many errors.
This isnt a browser issue (I tried firefox, IE, chrome), this isn't a modem/router issue (I have a laptop that works fine with a permanently logged in router), it's not an AOL issue I can still log in fine with AOL software and then browse fine with firefox, it's not a hardware issue, and it's not a firewall issue (it's off). Therefore it must be an issue with the way windows connects to my modem when using the built in PPPoE broadband connection. I really have no idea what could be wrong. Maybe one of you do?
With Vista, I can get internet for my new Dell XPS laptop over the wireless connection without doing anything other than selecting the connection. No user name or password is needed. But to plug in directly into my cable modem, it does not work. Seems to require user name and password. But I use Verizon and a Motorola SB5101 modem and while it is broadband, I did not think it is pppoe. I don't even know of any user name or password for my account. Am I wrong, is all broadband pppoe? My internet connection works just fine without asking for pppoe login info when I use my desktop with Windows XP. So, it seems to Vista specific problem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn the middle of today, after having used Windows Mail all morning, when I tried to create another mail, and clicked the "To" button, I got the "unable to choose recipients" message. I did not manually install Windows updates. But, when I went to Windows Update, there apparently was one "automatically" loaded without me realizing it.
I went in, and uninstalled it, but still get the error message. I can create emails, however, if I simply start to key in a contact's email address. Also, if I open "Windows Contacts", select a contact, and click E-Mail, a new email window opens, with the To recipient pre-filled. BTW, KB933928 was not the update that was listed in Windows Update, so that shouldn't be causing the problem.
Been dealing with this off and on and it usually works itself out when Iam completely updated with Windows Updates. I don't even have theupdate usually associated with this (ends with a 28). I have changed my folder type to "contacts" and that doesn't workeither. Has anyone found a fix for this yet? I can't believe Microsoftis still hasn't figured out this problem after this long.

When I come to load the photos and click to add the file in the box that opens (Choose File) it is always the same small size so that you cannot see all the photos, if you drag the folder to resize the box it will not stay that size, and when you click the in the next box to choose a second photo it has gone back to the same small size.
Is there any way of making the choose file box stay enlarged, even if it is just for the duration of putting the photos on, it dries me mad having to resize it every time. Would be enormously grateful if someone knew the answer to this one. Have attached a word document for you to see what I mean by the choose file box and the add photo.
I'm using Vista Ultimate x64, and a few days ago I started having troubles connecting to the internet. I have tried using both cabled and wireless connections, and both ends up with the same problem. I do get IP-adress, DNS and gateway from my D-link DI-624+ router, and when i try to ping a hostname on the internet ie. vistax64.com it resolves the hostname to a IP-adress. In "Network and Sharing Center" there is a red cross between my gateway and the internet-icon. I have no trouble connecting to other computers with other versions of Windows on my local network. The connection is also set to a "Private Connection".
