I need to choose between these 2 systems:
1.
comes with an Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz dual core processor, 1GB of DDR2
RAM, and a 320GB SATA II hard drive
and Vista Home Premium (32 bit)

comes with Pentium 4 CPU, 3.2 GHz, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 320GB SATA II hard
drive and Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
The real difference is only the CPU and RAM size.
After having my computer crashing - for whatever reason - i took it in to have all important documents (work stuff) that i needed transfered to an external hard drive.
I was informed to re install Vista, and that all my information will be lost.
When i did this, i did not reformat the drive, so it saved all the other stuff in a folder titlled windows.old.
I respoke to the person who assisted me, and told him of the issue that i am having which is:

I'm trying to use a VPN connection and it works fine if I'm using my wired connection, however if I'm on my wireless network at home, the VPN connection does not work unless I disable the ethernet card.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled, cleaned all drivers both for my screen and video card, nothing works. When I have uninstalled my grapich card i can choose higher res, but when I reinstall it, it will set back to 1024x768.
I have looked all over but cant find anyone with the same problem..........
how come i cannot choose recipients when sending emails. it has happened before and i uninstalled an update (can't remember the update ). however, that update is not installed and now i cannot choose recipients, nor can i add a new contact to my contacts folder.

Which one should I use, the Audigy 2 ZS (and alchemy for EAX support) or the onboard (will I still have non-EAX surround in older games, and will it use too much my CPU for video editing?)...
I have single user, home computer running Vista Home Premium (32 Bit). My e-mail usage level is fairly low. (About 15 - 20 per day.) Right now, I have two e-mail systems on my machine namely Windows Mail and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. I am looking for advice on which one to use. Windows Mail appears to be the simpler one and would satisfy my requirements but I do not wish to use it if it is likely to be discontinued in the near future.

I bought a pc in germany and the start up failed i got an error message in an endless loop i got it to start with the recovery disc but that has set it to German and i cant change it. Can anyone confirm or not that if the set up had run correctly i should have been offered the option to set up in English. if this is the case i can go back to the manufacturer and complain.

I am unable to choose a recipient from Outlook 2007 Contacts correctly to use in Windows Fax & Scan. When I click on the To: Button in Windows Fax & Scan I only get three columns shown. Name, Display Name and E-mail Address. If the intended recipient does not have an email adress their name does not appear. What am I setting up incorrectly. I can not see an option in Windows Fax & Scan. Is it a Outlook setting.

The problem is that the folder customization / layout never stays the way you set it, even minutes later after closing/re-opening explorer. This is driving me insane. For example, in explorer under Computer I choose large icons. Close, re-open its back to list view instead. Sometimes other folders will somehow change views by themselves too. This is really annoying.

View 8 Replies View Relatedi am running window 7 and vista. vista is on a 250 hard drive. window 7 is on a 500 hard drive. now to change window i turn my pc off. and change the red cable from drive to drive. now what i like to know is. if i connect the 2 red cable on the 2 drive do i get to choose window on boot up. or do i need a special program to make it work. now it is with 2 drive not a single drive .

(Though that doesn't mean one hasn't been posted; my searching skills may just be crappy.) Regardless, has anyone had this, or a similar issue, occur? Or does anyone know how to add your own "details" to choose from so I can get it back manually? I saw this: Folder Size for Windows Explorer. I probably need something along those lines, but for the size option instead... I installed SP2 for Vista when it came out. I created a new user account today. I opened Windows Media Player 11 and it started with Welcome to Window Media Player 11 for Vista window. It wants me to Choose the initial setting... Express or Custom. I can pick either one and the Finish button appears. I try click on the finish button, but nothing happens... the button doesn't animate to show it=E2=80=99s been clicked on. View 4 Replies View RelatedI Have Windows Vista OEM 32 bit that came on my computer. I noticed that the full retail version of ultimate includes the 32 and 64 bit install. With the anytime upgrade to ultimate can I choose between the 32 and 64 bit vista ultimate? I do realize that I would have to do a clean install of the 64 bit OS. I would like to try the 64 bit version but would also like to be able revert back to the 32 bit if the 64 bit doesn't work out. If I can't then the 32 bit version it is as I need to join a domain.........
View 9 Replies View Relatedi went to open a zip file by right clicking on it, choosing "open with" and then "Choose Default Program." Accidentally, I chose Word. Now, I can't seem to change this. I can't find an option anywhere to get rid of this, nor is it showing me the "extract" options anymore when I right click. None of the options in the Start Menus Default Programs tab seem to do anything of use for me either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn the middle of today, after having used Windows Mail all morning, when I tried to create another mail, and clicked the "To" button, I got the "unable to choose recipients" message. I did not manually install Windows updates. But, when I went to Windows Update, there apparently was one "automatically" loaded without me realizing it.
I went in, and uninstalled it, but still get the error message. I can create emails, however, if I simply start to key in a contact's email address. Also, if I open "Windows Contacts", select a contact, and click E-Mail, a new email window opens, with the To recipient pre-filled. BTW, KB933928 was not the update that was listed in Windows Update, so that shouldn't be causing the problem.
Been dealing with this off and on and it usually works itself out when Iam completely updated with Windows Updates. I don't even have theupdate usually associated with this (ends with a 28). I have changed my folder type to "contacts" and that doesn't workeither. Has anyone found a fix for this yet? I can't believe Microsoftis still hasn't figured out this problem after this long.

When I come to load the photos and click to add the file in the box that opens (Choose File) it is always the same small size so that you cannot see all the photos, if you drag the folder to resize the box it will not stay that size, and when you click the in the next box to choose a second photo it has gone back to the same small size.
Is there any way of making the choose file box stay enlarged, even if it is just for the duration of putting the photos on, it dries me mad having to resize it every time. Would be enormously grateful if someone knew the answer to this one. Have attached a word document for you to see what I mean by the choose file box and the add photo.
Not sure why but when I try to open system restore I get this message: "System Protection Settings has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I cannot make or restore my computer. If I go into system protection I get this error: C:WindowsSystem32SYSDM.CPL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

I have several utility software programs. I am afraid to use any of them. I am using Vista home premium 64 bit. I bought this computer back in april. after I bought it I purchased a new program called Advanced System Optimizer. When I google for information on a quality utility program this program had very high recommendations. I also have Fit-It utilities 7 and an older version of System Mechanic. My computer is running slower now and I know it needs cleaning up. The last time months ago right after I purchase Advance System Optimizer I ran the registry cleaner and it reeked havok on my system. I called the company and they told me their program I purchased was not designed for 64bit systems. Of course they didn't refund my money. Question is: My computer needs cleaning up I can tell it is running slower than it used to. What utility program is out there that will work on my system. My system is Vista Home Premium 64 bit Intel core 2 Duo 2.6 GHZ.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy wife was on the internet and suddenly System Pro popped up and started scanning warning my wife of a virus attack on her computer and wanted her to buy the AV Pgm for $49.95. She just clicked all the exits and got off of the internet and now she is locked out of her computer. We can't get system restore to work, Can't get safe mode to work, She has AVG 8 installed but cannot start it. Tried SFC /scannow but was denied access. Tried putting the Windows XP disk in to do a repair and was unable to get it to start. I think the only thing to do is reformat the HD and start over but her PC ignores the A drive and the dvd drives. I cannot get into it in order to re format it.
