I have a problem when trying to install windows vista 32 bit on my pc. I try to boot from cd but when i press a button to boot from cd the cd stops spinning and i get my pc restarted. same thing everytime. I don't know why this happens. i have 2 IDE HDD (120+250 GB) and a IDE converted with an adaptor to SATA, DVD drive.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm working in Internet Explorer, the right mouse button will randomly stop working. Also, when this happens, new windows that open automatically from the webpage or new tabs in the window do not load anything at all. Only IE suffers from this malady--all other programs function as they should. The only fix I have found for this is to perform a system restore. This fixes the problem temporarily, but after repeated use, IE does the same thing over again. I've restored my system dozens of times now, with no end in sight. Possible solutions?

The installer stops with an error that says 64 bit is not supported. I run lots of other 32 bit programs. Is there any way to install a program in a 32 bit "work space"?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had the 32bit Vista Ultimate installed for a while and I just recently installed the 64bit onto a separate partition. I deleted the 32bit from the OS boot menu in system configuration but it won't let me delete or format the partition where the 32bit install was when I am in Vista. I deleted it using the DVD to boot into the partition area but after I did that my PC wouldn't boot or anything. I got it repaired but I am now back at where I started. Does anyone have any ideas about how to delete the old installation (entire partition) without screwing up the boot?

Can not even turn off numlock as the light will not change from being on. I currently have an OEM copy of Vista 32bit which I run quite happily, but would like to install x64 on another hard disc to test it out etc. I can borrow an x64 installation disc from a friend, can I install and activate x64 using my 32 bit key? View 9 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if anyone else had experienced these annoying freezes that occur randomly in Vista 64. It can happen while I'm playing a game, it can happen while I'm browsing firefox etc. I freeze up about 4 times a day and the only solution is a hard restart.
It is beyond me, I have the video card drivers up to snuff, all updates are installed, virus scanners/spyware scanners, video card isn't overheating, CPU idles at 33 loads at 42. I'll describe the problem a little better other than to just say it's freezing. When the freeze occurs, the entire screen stops moving, I cannot move my mouse, all sound stops working, and if there was a sound playing, it will get mutilated into a nasty buzz.
how windows vista has that little circle as the start button? mine doesnt anymore! and the start menu looks like the old windows and i have tried to change the theme to windows vista but it stays the same.

I take it that this is for 32bit programs and the other for 64bit applications. The question I have is most of the programs are in both folders which means taken up valuable harddrive space, is it advisable to delette the 32bit folder.

My problem is that when I boot from my DVD drive, it says it loads the windows files, but then when its like setting up the install or something (The green bar is scrolling across the screen), it gets hung up then, after a minute or two, becomes a BSOD. 32 bit did something similar, but never gave me blue screen just kept stopping and starting again. I wasn't given a restore disk when I bought my computer from Best Buy, luckily my brother had an old copy of XP Pro 32bit laying around, or at least I felt lucky when he came up with it after using Linux for a week.
My question is will I be able to switch from XP Pro 32bit back to Vista 64bit? I know jack about compatibility, if it isn't obvious. I've tried switching back to Linux Ubuntu 64bit but all I was given was error messages.
I currently own a Sony VAIO running on VISTA Ultimate 32bit. This version was upgraded from Windows VISTA Home Premium through Windows-Upgrade-Anywhere. Because of various issues with VISTA and my Laptop I decided to upgrade to a faster machine with 4 Gig Ram. I now would like to upgrade me VISTA Ultimate 32bit to VISTA Ultimate 64bit to remove the 3 Gig RAM restrictions.
Unfortunately no one at Microsoft could really tell me how to do this. This is a all a big mess and trying to find information is really hard. The company I run has a icrosoft Action Pack subscription and I now even have 10 VISTA Business/Ultimate licenses... but again... all for 32bit. I really don??t understand why it needs to be so hard to simply swap a 32bit acquired license for a 62bit one. It??s an unnecessary restriction. From a Microsoft Hotline I learned that swapping 32bit/64bit is no issue if I bought a boxed version of VISTA Ultimate. The funny thing is that the same Hotline told me months ago that there is no difference between buying a "virtual license" through Upgrade-Anywhere and buying the boxed version.
Is there a way to run a certian program with admin privilages on a user without admin privlages other than typing in a user with admins privilages. (On my Vista home prem 32Bit OS not Vista Ultimate x64)

I am planning on building a new PC over the summer (as I can finally work for decent wages!) and I want to make it a beast. I'm not going to go completely crazy; I'll have a budget of around €1,500 to €2,000. For the most part, I have a good idea of what I'll be getting (X38 Intel mobo, E8xxx Core2 or Quad, R700 ATi or 9xxx nVidia etc) but when it comes to RAM I'm a bit stuck. Should I get 4GBs and a cheaper 32bit version of Vista or go for the 64bit? I know 64bit can theoreticly handle alot more RAM than 32bit, but with 4GB is it worth spending the extra cash on 64bit, or will 32bit handle it just fine? (And by "handle it" I mean utilise it fully. I dont want to find only 3GBs out of 4GB are actually being used...) Aslo, for the 64bit users out there: how is driver support? Are you encountering many problems with games/drivers/hardware?

View 4 Replies View Relatedit seems as though my CPU enjoys spinning up to 100% load. I'm not entirely sure why. It might be because I have an old CPU and motherboard (Athlon 64 3700+, which is, of course, single core and an Asus A8N-32 SLI Deluxe) but it never happened with XP Pro (unless I was doing something super intensive).
So, here's the deal: it sounds like something is spinning up but it's not my hard drives. Could it be the chip fan? It happens when I'm playing video games and, more recently, when I've been loading something even moderately graphics intense on the internets (I use Firefox 3.0.10, which has been crashing a bit lately, but that's not the issue here, hehe). Could it be the graphics card? Though I don't see why that would put a huge load on my CPU. (The card is an nVidia 8800 GT.)
There doesn't seem to be anyone one process that is causing this; the processes with the massive load change while whatever it is is spinning and the CPU is at 100% load.
