I'm trying to install Forsaken on Windows Vista 64bit and the screen just blacks out after the intro messages. It works fine on XP even though its an old game. I've tried right-clicking on the .exe files and setting compatability to Windows 95, 98 and 2000 and nothing changes. I used to love this game, does anyone know how to get it working?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having what seems to be the common problem of trying to run the 64 bit version of crysis and getting a black screen then crash right after launching the game. I have done a lot of searching and did a few of the suggestions like uninstalling the Nvidia Network Access Manager, changed my settings to force vsync both on and off, and set single display performance mode. I have tried both exes in the 64bin file, launching from the vista game explorer and my drivers are up to date. Also like others the 32bit version works fine. I have also reinstalled the game.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am building a new system and have a new copy of Vista Home Premium 32bit.
I got it all put together and tried to load Vista. It got to the Windows is loading files screen and then screen in getting black video. Keyboad and mouse stopped working at times. So I updated the board BIO's per intel through iso image and same thing. So I tried installing XP and got to the F8 screen to accept lic. and it just reboots everytime.
Any ideas why Vista would stop? Added the info about the XP install so it may help.

This computer ran Vista x64 fine for over a year. I sold it to brought it back to me the other day stating it started up, but just a black screen. First thought was power supply. Replaced the power supply with a 500 watt Thermaltake. System POST's. Gets to windows screen with the loading bar. Freezes. Decide to re-install thinking maybe there was too many unsucessful boots.
Install is VERY slow. Never have I seen it do this. It takes forever to get into the language screen. Finally once installed, Freezes at the windows screen with the loading bar underneath, yet again. Fooling around, I popped out the CMOS battery and cut all power to the system (Resetting CMOS, yes I know I can do it via Jumpers as well but I dont have the manual handy) and low and behold once I replace the battery and reboot I get into vista. I shutdown, restart to see if everythings all set. Frozen at the windows loading bar screen again...............
I have a problem with this graphic card, when I run a game with better graphic details. My computer freeze for 2-5 second, next is black screen for 2seconds(as monitor is shuted down) and next is black screen while i don't stop the game. Next I see this-> I hope that you solve my problem(and see that image) BTW: if this problem was solved on this forum sorry, but on system instantForum i was never been and i don't know how it control. Or if this post is in bad category please send message for me when you move it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have numerous problems installing service pack 1 on my Dell Laptop running Vista Home Premium. I succeded in installing it first time, but when I next ran windows update and rebooted, after the logon screen I just got a black screen with the mouse pointer and nothing else. I restored from an image, did all the updates, then installed the SP1 - same problem. Now I restored image, and applied SP1 (without running windows update first) and have the same problem. No problems on my home built desktop, just the laptop. Really pissed with Vista just now.
View 8 Replies View RelatedVista not booting if the computer wasn't shut down right? It will boot till a black screen with only the mouse curser (mouse curser won't move though). I can get into safe mode and have always just did a system restore to an earlier time, but this time, even when sent back to the earliest point it still wont boot. I have Vista 32bit, have added no new programs, and am caught up with the upgrades (but added none recently enough for it to have caused it).
Does anyone know how I can repair the boot info without having to reinstall windows. I have already got ahold of the boot disk but that didnt fix anything. I guess it at least gets into windows but one of the first startup stuff is corrupt.
It's called a Black Screen of Death (KSOD) Apparently this is associated with Vista Premium and Dell computers. When she turns her computer on it starts up fine. The Lil green vista bar comes up and such. But after that no start up noise. No nothing just pitch black. Labtop was operating under Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit.It happened right after uninstalling Java; because the dang updates kept popping up and it was getting annoying. I have loaded the above programs for my son and when they a running the screen is not centred and the is a black bar to the right of the screen approx 3 cm wide. View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having a very wierd issue with vista's screen saver. So basically when I leave the comp idle it goes into screen saver then turns off the monitor after 15 mins. Sometimes, more often than not, I come back and move the mouse and hit a few keys on the keyboard and nothing. The monitor wont come out of standby I try turning it off and back on, and nothing. I have the latest drivers for everything in my system and I checked the power management settings and they both are able to wake the computer up. I have a G15 keyboard and I keep the leds on and when this happens the leds are off and the lazer for the mouse is off too.

My one guess is its something to do with the display driver maybe because that has been stuffing up a bit of late, in the way of the screen going black for a couple of seconds then recovering.
Why do I get black picture after I have pressed PrtSc button? Of course it shouldn't be black and it happens only when the screen is on full screen mode (for an example videos, games etc.). View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just puchased my first Windows Vista computer - an HP laptop. I have purchased at leat five laptops since 2000 so I am familiar with setup and
comfortable with installations etc. I have three questions here.
1. My last computer had Windows XP and an 80 gb hard drive with 70 gb full - After copying the data only (55 GB) to my new 250 gb hard drive I have only 107 GB remaining of the 222 GB C drive partition. I have not yet added many programs. That tells me that Vista must be using 50-60 GB or more of the drive. Can that be correct?
2. My new computer takes 5-6 minutes to start up. After two minutes I get the welcome screen. Then the monitor goes black for a full two minutes before continuing the startup process. Is this normal for Vista?
3. Occasionally the monitor goes dark for a few seconds and a window pops up saying the display driver has failed but is back. Is this normal?
I certainly gained no speed with this new computer. There are many things I like about Vista. Since I have no previous experience with owning it I am trying to sort out if this computer is a lemon that should be returned or if I should just put up with the downside.
I have installed Vista x32 with SP2 Ultimate. When I installed anti-virus, BSOD came. Same AV version haven't problem with Vista SP1, what is updated to SP2. Then I try to install Vista with SP2 to hyper-v server, but installation stops immediately error screen (STOP: 0x0..8E). Is n_windows_vista_ultimate_sp2_checked_build_x86_dvd_342432.iso packet ok ?

I have all updated drivers, and no hardware conflicts presently that i'm aware of.. I got a new motherboard an Intel DP45SG running a quad core, i think 9550, but I dont have the exact specs in front of me. Then i am running four ddr3 corsair ram chips 1gb. I have two wd drives, don't rember the models off hand either. I have replaced the cables to the drives, ran just the drive by itself. I had a Nvidia Gefore 9600gt, but I replaced it with a ATI 4850 1gb ddr2 card. I am having the system take forever to run applications and do file copies. I opened up outlook 2007 and it took literally 15mins for it to open the mail box. Itunes takes about 20mins to open up. I can barely even use world of warcraft online half the time. I tried to copy files from the old hard drive to the new hard drive, they copied at 12kb/sec. Intel had a bios upgrade and I did that, I downloaded every driver possible. I turned off Index searching, Im to the point of going, is it the proc, memory, hard drives or all three. or heck the psu. Im totally lost as to what needs to be done to get this thing working. From what I can tell its only the file copies and the 32bit applications. Also, current windows updates, at SP2 atm.

I currently have an OEM copy of Vista 32bit which I run quite happily, but would like to install x64 on another hard disc to test it out etc. I can borrow an x64 installation disc from a friend, can I install and activate x64 using my 32 bit key? I then reboot the Pc it leading to a blue screen. Some times when I reboot it will blue screen some times it will just be a black screen that is un responsive. I have tried f8 options in advance boot optiotns, Ive tried re installing windows- it claiming my disk is full. Ive tried system restore it also says I have a disk failure. It wont let me check errors in the properties options on my hard drive. I have done a virus scan(no virus's) and I have 300gigs left of space.
View 8 Replies View Relatedis that when he tries to delete some files that he previously stored in the C:"Account Name",he gets a message saying that the file is unavailable in the specified location.However,that is not my main problem now,because when I was trying to help fix this problem I typed "msconfig" into the RUN box to get the startup utility box and I unchecked some of the background programs to prevent them from loading automatically when the system starts,in order to speed up the system;but when I restarted the system I can see the first screen, which is by the manufacturer of the labtop;then when vista starts loading, the screen becomes black and don't display anything,although I am sure that Vista is loading successfully but I cannot see it on the screen.
I am assuming that one of the programs that I have unchecked is responsible for displaying. I have two users set-up, user K (with Administrator rights I believe and a password) and user N. If I login as user K, after I enter my password my computer will run for a bit (I can see/hear it logging in) but after a few minutes the screen goes black except for my white cursor and nothing else happens. If I then hit ctrl-alt-del I can see the Task Manager and switch users to user N which will start up normally and give me access to my desktop.
