Screen Saver To Black Unresponsive Screen

I am having a very wierd issue with vista's screen saver. So basically when I leave the comp idle it goes into screen saver then turns off the monitor after 15 mins. Sometimes, more often than not, I come back and move the mouse and hit a few keys on the keyboard and nothing. The monitor wont come out of standby I try turning it off and back on, and nothing. I have the latest drivers for everything in my system and I checked the power management settings and they both are able to wake the computer up. I have a G15 keyboard and I keep the leds on and when this happens the leds are off and the lazer for the mouse is off too.

I have a problem with this graphic card, when I run a game with better graphic details. My computer freeze for 2-5 second, next is black screen for 2seconds(as monitor is shuted down) and next is black screen while i don't stop the game. Next I see this-> I hope that you solve my problem(and see that image) BTW: if this problem was solved on this forum sorry, but on system instantForum i was never been and i don't know how it control. Or if this post is in bad category please send message for me when you move it.

I know this is a Vista news group but I haven't been able to find a Windows 7 group so maybe one of you guys can answer my question. I have the power settings to never put computer or screen to sleep and there is no screen saver setup. When I leave my computer alone for awhile the screen goes black. This never happened with Vista when setup this way why is Windows 7 doing this?

The other day i was sitting next to my mate who was making notes on his MacBook. The cool thing i saw on that Mac was that, when not in use for a few seconds, the screen saver or the power saver doesn't appear, but first the brightness of the screen got to its minimum and then the screen went into power saver mode.
Is there a way to make my Vista do that as well? So instead of a screen saver, it would just turn the brightness to its lowest point and after a few minutes, it would go completely dark to save energy?

firstly sorry if this is placed in the wrong area of the forum but i didnt know where to post, secondly ive read other posts which share similar symptoms to my problem but not all the same.
ill start my computer and everything seems fine, then all of a sudden at random moments (whilst playing games, whilst surfing the net, whilst booting up, whilst not doing anything) completly random at any time, my pc will seem to crash, the screen goes blank and says 'no input' the computer is on but the little orange flickering light stops..........

I am building a new system and have a new copy of Vista Home Premium 32bit.
I got it all put together and tried to load Vista. It got to the Windows is loading files screen and then screen in getting black video. Keyboad and mouse stopped working at times. So I updated the board BIO's per intel through iso image and same thing. So I tried installing XP and got to the F8 screen to accept lic. and it just reboots everytime.
Any ideas why Vista would stop? Added the info about the XP install so it may help.

I have recently bought a new PC running Windows Vista Home Premium. I have loaded the above programs for my son and when they a running the screen is not centred and the is a black bar to the right of the screen approx 3 cm wide. I have tried to run the games in compatibility mode and as adminstrator as recommended with other games but with no success.

i went into my HDD and scheduled an error checking..well windows loaded as normal, but no error checking occurred i guess...now after the green bar is done, the screen hangs on a black screen.

Why do I get black picture after I have pressed PrtSc button? Of course it shouldn't be black and it happens only when the screen is on full screen mode (for an example videos, games etc.). It also doesn't matters if I am using just PrtSc or Alt + PrtSc - the result is the same. It looks like this ---> http://img525.imageshack.us/i/blackba.jpg/ (and, no, I didn't painted it black).

I use my pictures as a screen saver, but it won't ever turn off, I don't want it to sleep because it takes to long to boot up again, any other suggestions? I have Vista. I didn't have this problem with windows xp. I want into preferences and just told it when to stop the screen saver.

For the life of my, I can't get my Twingly Screensaver to work on my computer (Vista 64x), it doesn't appear in the screensaver list. Also, when it installs, even when I select Windows/System32 it doesn't install there and goes to the 64 folder. Here's a link to the screensaver Twingly Screensaver - visualizing the global blogosphere. It doesn't have a .scr which I think is the problem, is there anyway I can bypass this?

I seem to be having some trouble with my screen saver. I have the picture viewer as my preferred screen saver but it doesn't seem to work at all. The preview image shows that I should be seeing something, but when I click the "preview" button, the screen goes black and doesn't cycle through anything. It is as though the screen saver is activated, but not cycling. All other screen savers work except the picture viewer. I use a nvidia 9300 GE, which I just updated the drivers for about 2 days ago.

When any screensaver kicks in, it is transparent, meaning that I see through it to the desktop, which is still up. How do I make the desktop disappear when the screensaver turns on? As an example, when I turn on the Bubbles screensaver, bubbles bounce around on the screen OVER the desktop, not in place of it.

I Installed software & conected Mouse transmiter to computer which has vista on it and the screen saver won't work pull the transmiter out and the screen saver works. Has anyone had this problem if so did you get it fixed.

The screen saver is not working, when we go to the screen saver setting - there is a message - "The screen saver can't run because it requires a newer video card or which require Direct 3D" But it was working a day ago.

Can anyone explain why Windows periodically freezes when the screen saver is running? At first I thought it was due to the Windows Live Photo Gallery. After running for several hours (overnight, for e.g.), it would freeze on one picture. Usually moving the mouse would eventually close the screen saver and I'd return to the desktop.
I then changed to a regular screen saver, Mystify. Usually this isn't a problem, but today when I moved the mouse, the screen saver froze. I couldn't soft boot, actually had to shut down manually. This is the second time this has happened.
I've checked whether I'm using the latest video driver using device manager, and it says everything is up to date. I'm using NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430, driver version 7.15.11.7530. Could there be a device conflict? How would I be able to tell?

I want to change my screen saver to my photos. I followed the steps already, seen it in the preview screen, but when I don't do any thing on the computer and the screen saver is supposed to come up, it doesn't. It says I have no photos in the folder i selected.

I cannot get group policy to initiate the screensaver on one of our vista business sp1 machines. I've done extensive research and found only solutions that revolve around updating the HID-compliant mouse driver[COLOR=blue ! important][COLOR=blue ! important][/COLOR][/COLOR]. Now, the machines we have do not use wireless mice and all of them are nearly identical. I've looked through the event viewer but cannot find any sort of task that comes from group policy that locks the machine. I did find eventID 124 "Task triggered by locking the workstation" but its not clear that this is coming from group policy. Regardless, the machine in question never has a log in the event viewer about this task.

My computer came pre-installed with Vista Home Premium and for some time I was able to run a slideshow of pictures as my screensaver. After a while however this feature stopped working. Then after a double virus/spyware attack I decided to make a fresh installation of Vista. However, the slideshow feature still will not work. Has anyone got any ideas how to get it to work?

Instead of a screensaver, I am getting a message "Need a newer video card or one that is compatible with Direct3D" All the rest of my graphic requiremnets seem to be o.k., but can't run a screensaver since I installed Vista. Can anyone let me know what video card I need to buy.(I don't play any games on the computer).

When i set up a screen saver slide show the resolution of the pics are not as good as if i view them individually. I have checked the res and i am running at 1680 by 1050.

First thanks for all the tutorials they are great and easy to follow. I was wondering however I followed the steps set out for specifying the default screensaver, yet it can still be changed. I only have one account on my computer and it is the administrator account. My OS is Vista Home Premium x64. Is there a way I can lock it to a specific screensaver so it cannot be changed?
