Windows Crashed; Black Screen With Coursor: Cant Install New Windows

May 15, 2010

My Toshiba Labtop has crashed.I think a shared file was deleted. Labtop was operating under Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit.It happened right after uninstalling Java; because the dang updates kept popping up and it was getting annoying. Now whenever i start it, it comes to a black screen and a minute later a cursor pops up. Safe mode does not work.I have tried the recovery disk, but to no avail.I know im doing right because i purchased some Boots Disks off ebay and they come right up (PC wizard; Pc doctor). So i bought Windows Vista Ultimate and tried to install and i cant get to install thru boot.I ither need to know how to install windows thru boot, but id much rather just fix current windows.

Install :: Oading Files Screen And Then Screen In Getting Black

Mar 24, 2008

I am building a new system and have a new copy of Vista Home Premium 32bit.

I got it all put together and tried to load Vista. It got to the Windows is loading files screen and then screen in getting black video. Keyboad and mouse stopped working at times. So I updated the board BIO's per intel through iso image and same thing. So I tried installing XP and got to the F8 screen to accept lic. and it just reboots everytime.

Any ideas why Vista would stop? Added the info about the XP install so it may help.

Cannot Install , Stuck On Please Wait Screen

Oct 9, 2009

Booting from DVD "Windows is loading files... (white progress bar) (takes ~1 minute) Blue/green vista background (HDD and DVD drives are active) (takes 20 minutes for the next screen) I get to select languages, then click on "install now" Next I get a "please wait..." screen (HDD and DVD drives are active) (takes 40 minutes for the next screen) If I'm "lucky" I get this next - "A required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing" pop-up and that's as far as I was able to go The same happens with Windows 7, the screens differ a little, and I think the waiting times between these screens a even longer, but it's the same deal
Windows XP installs fast and without an errors

Updated BIOS Tried different settings in BIOS Tried different RAM Switched DVD drive to slave/master Bunch of other desperate stuff Updated the DVD drive firmware to the most recent Checked with Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor (no issues found) My specs are in my profile

Re-install Upgrade Can Blue Screen

Mar 23, 2008

So my HP started acting up, it's dual boot XP/Vista. I used the boot recovery dvd's from HP to attempt to re-install XP. It caused a blue screen, and messed up the boot sector so I can't now get to Vista either. So after a few hours I finally gave up trying to save the data and went for a full recovery (reformat-install XP clean) that toolead to a blue screen So I finally get Vista to install fresh (wouldn't allow me to install w/my code, said I had to be in windows to use the code.) So I install Visa w/o a code, go to activate and says this had to be an upgrade! technally it still is! So I go to try to find an e-mail or ph for MS and they say $59 to talk to someone! That is BS! If I could get the boot recovery to work I'd go back to XP and never look at vista again! Is there anyway I'm going to be able to save this machine? I'm going to try to contact HP, but have little faith as it's over a year old now, but I'm sure they'd gladly sell me a boot dvd! I relize the first message was in the wrong group.

Install 2gb Goes Blue Crash Screen

Dec 26, 2008

I am new to this forum so I hope you'll be patient with me. I have a MSI MS-163C laptop with 2GB of RAM and a Intel Dual Core Processor. I have received a copy of Vista Ultimate 64 Bit addition as part of my MAPS subscription and thought that would give it a go, my current version is 32 bit. I have researched and found that 3 to 4GB of RAM is recommended for 64 bit so I purchased 2 x 2GB sticks from FutureShop [Buffalo DDR II / 667mhz PC2 5300 However, anytime that I install any more than the 2GB already in the computer the computer goes to a "Blue" crash screen and I can't go any further. I checked the ram that is in the computer and they are 1GB sticks 667mhz, pretty much the same. If I take both of them out and install just one of the 2GB sticks the computer seems OK, but even if I install a 1GB with it to make it 3GB it crashes again. I am trying to determine for myself it this might be a BIOS problem or what,

Check The Memory For Errors BEFORE I Load/install Windows Vista Home Premium X64 To Avoid Install Hang-ups

May 25, 2008

I would like to check the memory for errors BEFORE I load/install Windows Vista Home Premium x64 to avoid install hang-ups. Can you make an ISO CD of this program, load it in your CD/DVD drive and check your memory for errors? I recently updated the BIOS on the board (DP35DP) and it does show all of the 4GB of Kingston ValueRam PC800 1.8v (2x2gb) installed. I have good reason to believe that it's from a respectable manufacturer. Just want to make sure the memory is good before I load up the OS.

Ultimate Install Screen Doesn't Respond

Mar 26, 2008

I am trying to Install Windows Vista Ultimate OEM 32-bit on my new build that I recently purchased. I have got to different stages and have had so many errors that I have lost track. I have got the BSOD numerous times and to be honest, I don't know why I decided to buy Vista. I have got so far to the Hard drive drvers screen before I plugged in my USB memory stick and it stopped responding. After that, I haven't go as far. Sometimes I get a BSOD right after it has finished loading the files explaining to me that it couldn't write to the memory because it was read-protected. I haved also got to the language select screen but it doesn't respond. I've even got as far as the regristration key input (again) and I get a little pop-up box saying all sorts of errors. Is it my system which isn't compatible? (BTW my Vista is legal)

Install Software Screen Dims And Freezes

Jul 26, 2008

I was trying to install all my old software but I have recently come across a problem that I need some assistance with. When I try to install this software DVD Copy Software from DVDFab | Copy DVD to PSP, DVDR or iPod it starts the install, confirms that I want to install it and then the screen dims and basically freezes. I go to the task manager and it doesn't list the install on there, but when I cancel out of there it has cleared up. I know that this software works on vista from the manufacturer. This has happened with a few install attempts.

Blue Screen When Load Vista Install

Mar 23, 2008

I've been getting the same blue screen as early as attempting to load the Vista install PE environment from the DVD. Would like some specifics as to what that is pointing to. Initially, I had a bad stick of RAM. I have since RMA'd the RAM, and tested the new RAM. I'm not showing any errors with the new RAM. It does it irregardless of 64 bit mode, or 128 bit mode. It does it, when I add a second stick of RAM however.

Install Slow, Freezes, Black Screen

Jan 20, 2010

This computer ran Vista x64 fine for over a year. I sold it to brought it back to me the other day stating it started up, but just a black screen. First thought was power supply. Replaced the power supply with a 500 watt Thermaltake. System POST's. Gets to windows screen with the loading bar. Freezes. Decide to re-install thinking maybe there was too many unsucessful boots.

Install is VERY slow. Never have I seen it do this. It takes forever to get into the language screen. Finally once installed, Freezes at the windows screen with the loading bar underneath, yet again. Fooling around, I popped out the CMOS battery and cut all power to the system (Resetting CMOS, yes I know I can do it via Jumpers as well but I dont have the manual handy) and low and behold once I replace the battery and reboot I get into vista. I shutdown, restart to see if everythings all set. Frozen at the windows loading bar screen again...............

I have numerous problems installing service pack 1 on my Dell Laptop running Vista Home Premium. I succeded in installing it first time, but when I next ran windows update and rebooted, after the logon screen I just got a black screen with the mouse pointer and nothing else. I restored from an image, did all the updates, then installed the SP1 - same problem. Now I restored image, and applied SP1 (without running windows update first) and have the same problem. No problems on my home built desktop, just the laptop. Really pissed with Vista just now.

Memory Upgrade: Install Additional 2Gb, I Get A Blue-screen Every Time I Boot

Mar 23, 2008

Am running Vista 64 Business on XFX 680i Sli LT with 2Gb ram, Quad core 6600, 600GT video. System runs fine, but I want more memory to help performance. When I try to install additional 2Gb, I get a blue-screen every time I boot (some blue screens have an IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL, most have no error msg). Is there a way to determine if my installation of Vista already has this installed? I've already checked the Control Panel/Windows Update/Review Update History, it's not in there, I thought it may be in the core install on the DVD?

Uninstall Windows And Install Windows XP

May 26, 2008

I have searched high and low for an easy way to revert back to XP from a Vista Premium OEM install. Of course the error message comes up after reboot "Unable To Load OS". I have tried even to dual boot with no success. I have used the following programs to revert back to XP:

-Vista Boot Pro
-EasyBCD
-Paragon Partition Manager Professional
-Acronis Disk Director Suite

Paragon worked but I was unable to dual boot and it left Vista intact on the partition. I deleted the Vista partition after a good XP install and when I rebooted I was faced with the "Unable To Load OS" error message. Does anyone have an EASY solution for this problem? As in a complete hard drive erase to clear the boot files?

I've currently got windows XP pro installed. (I've got the XP pro OS installation disk here too) Is it possible to install it again but on another partition/HDD? (So I have XP installed on a partition, then installed again on another partition create 2 places to boot from.) And if I have it installed twice using the same XP install disk, could I upgrade one of them using a Vista ultimate upgrade disk? (This leaves me with XP pro on one partition and Vista on another.) Am I allowed to do this?

Cant Install Windows Xp

Dec 29, 2008

I have a brand new Dell XPS 730x with 6 GIG RAM, Intel i7 64-bit processor, and one SATA2 500 GIG hard drive. It came with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 pre-installed...I am trying to run a program that is only compatible with windows xp32bit. I already have done everything from re-formatting the hard drive and erasing it of vista 64... to artitioning it... to running a virtual window with XP in it...None of them have worked...The problem is that when i try to install XP, when it comes time to select the drive to install it is unable to locate any hard drive.... I am unable to load drivers to enable this because it requests for the drivers to be on a floppy, and the machine came without one installed on it...

I go to computer shops, but it is against their secret code to inform me how to do it, they just tell me I will not be able to. However they could do it for me "no problem" but it will cost me $100... I follow instructions very well... If they could do it I could do it.... If i need to get supplies I will get them... I just want to get it done..I have an old ATA hard drive with XP already on it...I purchased an adapter so it can connect to the motherboard...Still I have had no luck...I am not running a RAID config...I have tried the thumbdrive technique...I have tried but am unable to access the bcdedit.exe (and i heard that is for after XP is installed)... I understand that XP32 has to be installed first if it is on one hard drive...I would prefer to be able to use the old hard drive for XP(since it is already installed), and the new one for vista64... and then just dual boot...Every which way I try to install XP it never sees either of the hard drives...change **** in the BIOS? Do I need a cable? Do i need to download a special driver?
