May 13, 2009Got a dell inspron 1525, Vista had a fit so reformated and started fresh now screen gone blank? what the ....what to do?, does anyone know!

Fresh Install "blue Screen Of Death"
Feb 18, 2009i bought myself a new hard drive 500gb sata 2 and i have Vista Home Basic..I tried to do a fresh install of Windows on the new drive and the windows seems to load ok until it gets to the end of installation and my machine just restarts over and over and wont load windows..just before it restarts everytime you can just see the "blue screen of death" for a second before it restarts...any clues? Also i tried to do a fresh install over my old hard drive and that wont work either..after it says loading windows files..i get the blue screen again

Jan 2, 2008i installed my 8800 gts with the cd that came with it...rebooted, but all the monitor shows is a black screen (yes the monitor plug thingy is connected to the new gfx card). since the black screen came up, i switched the input back to the integrated gfx card. how do i disable the onboard (integrated) gfx card so that my comp will detect the 8800gts on startup cuz right now it detects nvidia geforce 6150 se (on board gfx card) even if i uninstall it.

Sep 12, 2009I am having some problems with my drivers so I am trying to delete the partition on the operation system drive and do a fresh install, operating system and drivers. However, no matter what I do I cannot get my computer to boot from the windows vista DVD so I can delete the OS partition. Here is what I already tried:
- My BIOS is set to boot from CD ROM first
- I have tried both DVD drives
- I verified that the DVD is good by trying it in a different computer where it will boot from the DVD drive
- The DVD drive works because I can initiate installation from the DVD drive. But since it isn't on start-up, I cannot delete the partition and all the drivers.
How do I get this dang computer to recognize this DVD on boot?
Fresh Windows Ultimate X64 Install <CPU And GPU Temperatures Screwed>
Jun 19, 2009Okay so I'm working on a gateway LX 6810-01 I was having a hard time getting the screwed up hard drive fixed with a fresh OS install.
After about 3-4 days, I finnaly got Vista Ulitmate x64 on it and all seemed well. I installed all the drivers from the gateway site for the lx 6810-01 and just left it running for about 10 minutes.. then it just shut off on it's own. I immediatley suspected a heat problem and downloaded a program called speedfan to moniter each individual core and the gpu's temperatures. It also lists other information such as Fan rpm's and Voltage readings.
With Speedfan, I noticed the temperatures were way WAY above nominal, around 64c just ideling. I saw the GPU get up to 73c with a game open before everything froze and the cores heated up enough to shut the computer off moments later.
The computer worked pefectly fine a week ago, he got some kind of virus on it and thats why we had to reformat it with the same OS it had stock.
The only thing we did with the hardware was take out the hardrive and put it in my cpu to try and run a virus scan on his hard drive as slave. The fans on everything including the GPU are all still running so we can't figure out why it would be hot all of a sudden. We have tried cleaning out all of the dust and to no avail.
Re-install, Do A Fresh Install?
Feb 6, 2009I need to do a fresh install of Windows vista home premium on my laptop that I am renting from a company. However, they didn't give me an install disc or recovery disc when they rented out the lap top to me. Is there a way to do this with out the discs?

Where I run into my issue: When it's connected, the TV turn into the monitor and my laptop goes blank. (I believe I selected this option not knowing what the outcome would be when my windows vista laptop was connected to the TV for the very first time). I absolutely dislike that I have to work all my functions through my TV and would like my laptop monitor to display a screen at the same time. Is that possible to undo what I caused?

Sep 18, 2009I had 2.5GB of RAM in HP laptop. OS - vista home premium service pack2.
The system works fine.
I upgraded to 4GB RAM(2*2GB). when upgraded to 4GB in bios able to see as ~3.33GB of RAM. I am able to see microsoft progress bar also, but after that the screen is blank and able to hear windows logon sound but no display. The screen is black.
When installed only the new 2GB of RAM the system work fine. So no problem with the new 2GB also. But with 4GB the screen is blank. I have nvidia GeForce 7400 graphics card. Is there any configuration need to be done in vista before installing 4GB of RAM?
Blank Screen At Login
Jan 18, 2010I accidently turned my Dell laptop off while it was performing windows updates. When I restarted the laptop it goes to the login screen and then goes blank (i cant enter the username/password).
I have tried the following:
1. Starting in safe mode (same issue)
2. Using the boot dvd and trying the different options in there (Repair, Restore to safe point, Memory check).
3. Using the boot dvd I have tried several different restore points, including the original store point.
4. I have looked through every forum and every post I can find and cannot find any suggested resolutions.
Help & Support Screen Comes Up Blank
Apr 5, 2009If go to Help And Support or click (or use F1 key) for anym windows' applications, the Help & Support Screen comes up but is blank. If type something in search get following message. HELP TOPIC NOT FOUND: "This Content Under Construction". "We Were Unable To Retrieve The required Topic". Have tried all the reg. fixes have seen for restoring Help & Support and ones relevant to this particular error message without success. No other problems with Vista Ultimate and have no idea why or when occurred.

Mar 20, 2009I have 4 vista 32 bit machines. 1 will update beautifully. When I go to run the Windows update, the other 3 "time out". They sit there with a blank box on the screen for well over 5 minutes, before in sheer frustration, I trash it. Dec 4, 2009I recently updated my Vista, using the normal windows update. This made my WHOLE operating system go completely retarded, but once I used safe mode a couple of times it sorted out. I recently installed Ubuntu, so I can dual-boot my laptop. Now, all of a sudden after the Ubuntu install, my windows vista is broken!! I get to the log in screen, and i log in as normal, and then i get to my desktop - which is just a blank white screen with my curser on it. I can press CTRL-ALT-DEL, and i can log off and shut down, but I can not use task manager, and it gives me an error message saying something like 'it can not run' or something.

Slow Boot, Screen Is Going Blank?
Aug 17, 2008I have a notebook with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit on it. The problem is that my boot is take a lot of time. First I get the BIOS screen with the Dell logo that is taking about 3 seconds (so that is good). But the loading bar is taking a lot of time. It is going from left to right for 13 times (This is not normal I think). After that, my screen is going blank for about 10 seconds and then I get a black screen with mouse cursor for about 10 seconds and then again a blank screen for 10 seconds (So a total of 30 seconds, which also not normal). After that I get the vista logo with the sound and the welcome screen, which is taking a long time (for about 25 seconds).
After that I get a blank screen for 20 seconds and then the desktop appears and from now on everything is running fine. So my question is: WHAT is causing this slow boot! I have already read the tutorial 'How to Speed Up Vista Boot Time' and did everyting they said. My startup programs are Kaspersky Internet Security and MSN Messenger. I have enabled superfetch and prefetch and set the registry value on 3. What else can I do to decrease the boot time?
Blank Screen: Itunes And Surfing The Web
Mar 23, 2008i have a basic Toshiba laptop "new" with the basic Windows Vista on it. For some reason every so often, about twice a day, the screen will suddenly go blank. I can still hear music that im playing or whatever, but the screen is blank and the only way to clear it is to manually push the power button to restart the computer. All i use the laptop for is itunes and surfing the web, checking emails. it has never been dropped. its sits on a desk and doesnt move.

After the installation the PC booted in normal mode, but I see only a blank screen without any cursor or information. I am able to boot into safe mode (I managed to install the nVidia 88.61 from there) and log on, but when I reboot into normal mode I can't see anything appearing on screen. I also tried to manually update the driver from the Device Manager in safe mode and nothing. I tried even to boot in "Allow unsafe drivers to load" but no gain.

Dec 20, 2008I have a Advent laptop which recently decided not to load Windows Vista, when i tried to launch from the error recovery page it wouldnt start andjust gave me a blank screen. It also didnt work using a the windows Vista download from neosmart. and gave me the same blank screen when loading from the multi-boot screen.
I then downloaded a program called 'KillDisk' and i asked it to wipe out my Vista from my computer, whichit done succesfully, i decided to try my Windows Vista recovery disc and this time it did load the installation page, i put in my product key before it said there was something wrong (Cant remember exactly) i then tried to restore it using the repair computer options on the installation page before itthen said what was wrong with my laptop, 'Boot sector for system disk partition is corrupt' How can i sort this out!?!

The screen saver will come on after a few minutes, but when I touch a key, I get back to the same blank screen. Alt-Ctrl-Del does nothing. May 15, 2010I have windows vista home premium x64, its a fairly new computer - not even one year old. it has 12gb of RAM, and the i7 core processor - i dont think its much useful to my problem, but here it is: Logging off/Switching users takes forever, sometimes the screen just goes blank and stays there.
