Rebuilding my system, new motherboard, optical drives (Sata) new CPU Intel DUAL 8400. Install Windows Settings OK till naming PC, Then Blank screen. No Signal. Changed GPU. No Signal. Removed HDD and reformatted. Replaced , still no Bios, blank screen
View 4 RepliesI have Vista Ulimate 64-bit and everytime that I reboot I get a black screen before the Microsoft Windows scrolling bar.
This is the sequence.
- I reboot.
- I get my bios information screen.
- I get the white, blinking line in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Then the screen goes black with no hard drive activity.
I then can perform a Complete PC restore from my second partition on the same SATA Hard Drive and I will then be able to boot into Vista with no problem.....until I reboot, then I get the Black screen again. It is a vicious cycle.
I have tried to remove video cards (2 x 8800 GTS), memory (4 GB), sound cards (X-Fi Music), load the default bios settings....nothing works. Only a Complete PC Restore cures it, but only until I need to reboot the PC.
i run Vista home x64, and when the updates download and install everything works until the restart. After the bios and windows screen i get a blue screen telling me that windows is unable to restart and to either restart the computer or contact the administrator. So i restart and i get the option to start windows normally or run the repair, if i select normal i get the same blue screen, so i run the repair and it does the system restore which only partially works. i have to run another restore with a point that i have selected for everything back to normal. i have disabled the auto updates and have been hiding new ones because i'm sick of sitting through two restores.

Where I run into my issue: When it's connected, the TV turn into the monitor and my laptop goes blank. (I believe I selected this option not knowing what the outcome would be when my windows vista laptop was connected to the TV for the very first time). I absolutely dislike that I have to work all my functions through my TV and would like my laptop monitor to display a screen at the same time. Is that possible to undo what I caused?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy soninlaw has a ECS NF650iSLIT motherboard. He want me to help him update the bios, he keeps getting a message on windows 7 that he should update it. He does have a couple problems there. Blue screen every so often. But does any one out there know if that board has a jumper that we would have to change to flash the bios? In reading about this in the manual it says IF the board has one but don't spicificaly say it does
I had 2.5GB of RAM in HP laptop. OS - vista home premium service pack2.
The system works fine.
I upgraded to 4GB RAM(2*2GB). when upgraded to 4GB in bios able to see as ~3.33GB of RAM. I am able to see microsoft progress bar also, but after that the screen is blank and able to hear windows logon sound but no display. The screen is black.
When installed only the new 2GB of RAM the system work fine. So no problem with the new 2GB also. But with 4GB the screen is blank. I have nvidia GeForce 7400 graphics card. Is there any configuration need to be done in vista before installing 4GB of RAM?
I accidently turned my Dell laptop off while it was performing windows updates. When I restarted the laptop it goes to the login screen and then goes blank (i cant enter the username/password).
I have tried the following:
1. Starting in safe mode (same issue)
2. Using the boot dvd and trying the different options in there (Repair, Restore to safe point, Memory check).
3. Using the boot dvd I have tried several different restore points, including the original store point.
4. I have looked through every forum and every post I can find and cannot find any suggested resolutions.
If go to Help And Support or click (or use F1 key) for anym windows' applications, the Help & Support Screen comes up but is blank. If type something in search get following message. HELP TOPIC NOT FOUND: "This Content Under Construction". "We Were Unable To Retrieve The required Topic". Have tried all the reg. fixes have seen for restoring Help & Support and ones relevant to this particular error message without success. No other problems with Vista Ultimate and have no idea why or when occurred.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have 4 vista 32 bit machines. 1 will update beautifully. When I go to run the Windows update, the other 3 "time out". They sit there with a blank box on the screen for well over 5 minutes, before in sheer frustration, I trash it. I know at least 1 machine is saying it has 350Mb of downloads to do, but when I tell it to start, it does nothing. All are running SP1.

This made my WHOLE operating system go completely retarded, but once I used safe mode a couple of times it sorted out. I recently installed Ubuntu, so I can dual-boot my laptop. Now, all of a sudden after the Ubuntu install, my windows vista is broken!! I get to the log in screen, and i log in as normal, and then i get to my desktop - which is just a blank white screen with my curser on it. I can press CTRL-ALT-DEL, and i can log off and shut down, but I can not use task manager, and it gives me an error message saying something like 'it can not run' or something.

So i restart my machine and every things going good video display and i can press del to get into the bios, i can move around in there and change whatever. Once vista loads the keyboard and mouse still are receiving power (lights are still on) but are non responsive. Ive tried reseting the cmos and puting everything back to defaults in the bios menu but to no avail. The weird thing is that it happened out of no where. It was working fine and my roommate (and i believe him) came home turned it on to find these problems. Its seems like all my onboard input/output connectors are not working.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi installed my 8800 gts with the cd that came with it...rebooted, but all the monitor shows is a black screen (yes the monitor plug thingy is connected to the new gfx card). since the black screen came up, i switched the input back to the integrated gfx card. how do i disable the onboard (integrated) gfx card so that my comp will detect the 8800gts on startup cuz right now it detects nvidia geforce 6150 se (on board gfx card) even if i uninstall it.

In there i found that the everytime i change

- CTRL-ALT-DELETE/CRTL-SHFT-ESC to show task manager

I have a notebook with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit on it. The problem is that my boot is take a lot of time. First I get the BIOS screen with the Dell logo that is taking about 3 seconds (so that is good). But the loading bar is taking a lot of time. It is going from left to right for 13 times (This is not normal I think). After that, my screen is going blank for about 10 seconds and then I get a black screen with mouse cursor for about 10 seconds and then again a blank screen for 10 seconds (So a total of 30 seconds, which also not normal). After that I get the vista logo with the sound and the welcome screen, which is taking a long time (for about 25 seconds).
After that I get a blank screen for 20 seconds and then the desktop appears and from now on everything is running fine. So my question is: WHAT is causing this slow boot! I have already read the tutorial 'How to Speed Up Vista Boot Time' and did everyting they said. My startup programs are Kaspersky Internet Security and MSN Messenger. I have enabled superfetch and prefetch and set the registry value on 3. What else can I do to decrease the boot time?
i have a basic Toshiba laptop "new" with the basic Windows Vista on it. For some reason every so often, about twice a day, the screen will suddenly go blank. I can still hear music that im playing or whatever, but the screen is blank and the only way to clear it is to manually push the power button to restart the computer. All i use the laptop for is itunes and surfing the web, checking emails. it has never been dropped. its sits on a desk and doesnt move.

I installed System Shock 2 on my computer (vista home premium 32bit), and it will load fine. My problem is that once you get out of the menu and go to start a new game or click on intro the screen just goes blank and stays blank (a black screen basically). Does anyone have any idea as to what could be wrong and perhaps how to fix this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAnybody having as I am problems with eSATA devices since installing SP1? My eSATA drives show in the BIOS boot screen but hangs on the Vista drivers loading bard or just beyond on the black screen before the Windows logo. If I restart without the eSATA device connected/powered up Vista loads normally and if I then switch on/plug in the eSATA drive it is not recognised by windows anywhare. I have looked in disk management in the admin folder and the drive is not there.

After the installation the PC booted in normal mode, but I see only a blank screen without any cursor or information. I am able to boot into safe mode (I managed to install the nVidia 88.61 from there) and log on, but when I reboot into normal mode I can't see anything appearing on screen. I also tried to manually update the driver from the Device Manager in safe mode and nothing. I tried even to boot in "Allow unsafe drivers to load" but no gain.

It also didnt work using a the windows Vista download from neosmart. and gave me the same blank screen when loading from the multi-boot screen.
I then downloaded a program called 'KillDisk' and i asked it to wipe out my Vista from my computer, whichit done succesfully, i decided to try my Windows Vista recovery disc and this time it did load the installation page, i put in my product key before it said there was something wrong (Cant remember exactly) i then tried to restore it using the repair computer options on the installation page before itthen said what was wrong with my laptop, 'Boot sector for system disk partition is corrupt' How can i sort this out!?!

The screen saver will come on after a few minutes, but when I touch a key, I get back to the same blank screen. Alt-Ctrl-Del does nothing.
