I have been looking into a new processor and decided to update my bios so that it's up to date and can handle the new tech. Bios update went fine using the Asus updater software and I rebooted and now I have nothing - the computer will not even go to the bios flash screen...Nothing / zip

well i jus got a standard p5k board...updated the bios from 704 to the beta 0805...some of my oc settings had to be reset and set again...not that big of a deal...but now everything works..except my Ai Suite...which im guessn my sensors and all with my bios? but speedfan and pc probe II works...so something wrong with the program...hmm i mite jus uninstall and reinstall....or BIOS?? i dont kno well sorry for the big pic..
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Vista Ulimate 64-bit and everytime that I reboot I get a black screen before the Microsoft Windows scrolling bar.
This is the sequence.
- I reboot.
- I get my bios information screen.
- I get the white, blinking line in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Then the screen goes black with no hard drive activity.
I then can perform a Complete PC restore from my second partition on the same SATA Hard Drive and I will then be able to boot into Vista with no problem.....until I reboot, then I get the Black screen again. It is a vicious cycle.
I have tried to remove video cards (2 x 8800 GTS), memory (4 GB), sound cards (X-Fi Music), load the default bios settings....nothing works. Only a Complete PC Restore cures it, but only until I need to reboot the PC.
i run Vista home x64, and when the updates download and install everything works until the restart. After the bios and windows screen i get a blue screen telling me that windows is unable to restart and to either restart the computer or contact the administrator. So i restart and i get the option to start windows normally or run the repair, if i select normal i get the same blue screen, so i run the repair and it does the system restore which only partially works. i have to run another restore with a point that i have selected for everything back to normal. i have disabled the auto updates and have been hiding new ones because i'm sick of sitting through two restores.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy soninlaw has a ECS NF650iSLIT motherboard. He want me to help him update the bios, he keeps getting a message on windows 7 that he should update it. He does have a couple problems there. Blue screen every so often. But does any one out there know if that board has a jumper that we would have to change to flash the bios? In reading about this in the manual it says IF the board has one but don't spicificaly say it does
I have a program trying to flash on my screen. It is every 12-15 seconds apart and only flashes for a half second. I have tried to click on it. I have disconnected from the internet as I thought maybe someone was trying to access my computer. Still does it. I ran3 different spyware and antivirus programs. Plus, I ran rkill (all 4 types). I still have the problem.
If I am typing while it flashes, it erases my typing. I have defragged, debugged in addition to running spyware and antivirus programs. After doing each one of them, I have restarted my computer. Still get that flash. It is driving me bonkers.

I can hear my laptop fan running, and every 20 seconds or so the computer powers off then reboots immediately, but nothing on the screen.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI tried to search for a solution for this problem but i dont know how to word the query. So i restart my machine and every things going good video display and i can press del to get into the bios, i can move around in there and change whatever. Once vista loads the keyboard and mouse still are receiving power (lights are still on) but are non responsive. Ive tried reseting the cmos and puting everything back to defaults in the bios menu but to no avail. The weird thing is that it happened out of no where. It was working fine and my roommate (and i believe him) came home turned it on to find these problems. Its seems like all my onboard input/output connectors are not working.

Anybody having as I am problems with eSATA devices since installing SP1? My eSATA drives show in the BIOS boot screen but hangs on the Vista drivers loading bard or just beyond on the black screen before the Windows logo. If I restart without the eSATA device connected/powered up Vista loads normally and if I then switch on/plug in the eSATA drive it is not recognised by windows anywhare. I have looked in disk management in the admin folder and the drive is not there.

View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen i try to send email, a quick flash appears on the screen (like the action occurred successfully, very fast), but the message just goes to the outbox and is never sent, even upon prompt at program termination. i have checked all program and account settings, and everything is ok (especially the send messages immediately checkbox). i entered a secondary unrelated email address with different, known server addresses but the same thing occurred. i downloaded mozilla thunderbird and entered the primary email information and i could send messages with no problem. switching email programs permanately really is not a viable option at this point. this is not a server address problem, and the primary email does not require authentication.

I don't remember seeing it before the last few weeks... it is very fast and doesn't allow me the chance to do anything but notice it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedEvery time I get one of those UAC prompts asking me to authorize an administrative action my LCD screen flashes when the box pops up. This is caused by the switch to the secure desktop, similar to what happens when you hit CTRL + ALT + DELETE. The only difference is that the background is a snapshot of your desktop that gives it the effect that it is just a pop up window. Although if you look carefully you will notice it is static since the clock does not change and anything else that was animated is now static. The secure desktop provides an extra level of security to UAC by making it immune to any application that may try to automate the click on the allow button bypassing the purpose of UAC.
This sounds like a great thing but it is really annoying to me. I hate that screen flicker. Rather than disable UAC, there is a better alternative. Instead, I can just disable the secure desktop switch that causes the flicker. I know this is not as secure but it is better than disabling UAC completely.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was surfing the net with my girlfriend the other night... playing bingo to be precise, (we are soo rock n roll!) and my computer just turned off.. not instantly like a powercut, but alot quicker than normal shutdown. I turned it back on and was given the options to start in safe mode, safemode with command prompt etc. Well, every option I chose lead to windows starting to load but then a very quick blue screen "flash" ....then it would restart from the beginning again.
I then dug out my vista cd, and told my bios to boot from cd, I would then get a message saying windows is loading files and as soon as the bar flled up the blue screen came back, but this time it stays on the screen. So just to recap, i can't start windows in safe mode, command prompt, or normally, and i can't use my recovery cd. The blue screen i get is: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Sometimes when I install drivers I get the message that my BIOS is out of date (including updates from AMD) if I go to the Phoenix site it says go to the motherboard manufacturer or run Biosagent if you use this you pay for the update but you do get this info so is it worth e-mail gateway support, using the boisagent or just leave well alone.

My brother has just built a computer and can't get it working. The problem is that when he starts it he gets to the screen where he can choose to enter BIOS. 9/10 times he can't do anything from there but 1/10 times he can press delete and then it says "loading bios" but it freezes there (he waited 30 mins nothing happened). Does anyone know what the problem mihht be?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been messing around in my BIOS. Installing some faster RAM and trying a slight overclock (2.4 t0 2.7Ghz on a Q6600) and seem to have caused myself several problems. Firstly I tried to push it a bit further on the FSB- from 1200 to 1300-the system wouldn't boot and wouldn't let me into the BIOS. I eventually got round this by removing the mobo battery. I was able to get back into the BIOS and revert to my original oc. However when I booted I got a re register Windows this is not a genuine version notice. I had to 'phone microsoft and get a new activation ID. I'm now back in windows (Vista HP 64 bit) but seem to have a few left over issues. My clock was set back to 2006 and that meant I couldn't activate Gmail etc. I went back into the BIOS and reset the date but could not change the day. So it's 3.19PM on Monday the 22nd of September, 2008. I've tried everything I can think of but cannot find a way to make it Friday, which it is.
Also I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. This keeps reporting that my computer is at risk and I need to update. I've updated over a dozen times but it doesn't seem to change and is still telling me it needs to update. These are ther first problems I have noticed. I hope I don't find more. Does anyone have any advice as to how to get my day and date correct and how to convince Kaspersky it's up to date?
I can't get the computer to boot from the disk. I can't get into my BIOS or anything because for some reason my keyboard won't work until the login screen. What are some other methods for reinstalling that don't require a keyboard, or if someone can give me some hints on how to fix this keyboard problem. I've tried 4 different keyboards and none of them do anything. I've tried 3 usb ones and 1 prongy one. The prongy one won't even work so I guess that's out of the question. What are my options? I just want to clean everything. I don't care how.....
View 4 Replies View RelatedHi i have just bought a new laptop as i fried the MoBo in my last one which i bought in the early days of Vista, not realising what system requirements were for Vista i landed up with a very under resourced in the hardware dept. laptop and i am shure my constant tinkering with the hardware caused the death of it.
Which brings me to my query (now that i am overly paranoid about tinkering with hardware) i have been researching and have found there is very mixed opinion on applying Bios updates and was wondering what people here thoughts. I have two pending Bios updates 1st addresses better support for SP2 and the 2nd improves system performance & LCD panel brightness.
and if i apply these updates do i need to do both updates or just apply the current one, any opinions would be greatfully received.
im new to the concept of overclocking, i dont really want to atempt it but i do have a question. Is it possible to overclock CPU without using BIOS? When i go inside my CMOS setup i cant go into CPU settings.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI thought I would try Ubuntu on my computer. I have a Microsoft Wireless keyboard and mouse. They both worked while setting up dual boot. Once completed, Ubuntu loaded, however I didn't have a keyboard and mouse to select the operating system. They worked well once in Ubuntu. I changed the boot OS default to Vista 64 and I have access to Vista again.
The problem is that no keyboard I try allows me access to the bios. I've tried unplugging the drives as well, still with no luck. I want to repair Vista (MBR)using the disk, however can't change the boot order in the bios. Is there a way to repair MBR from within Vista?
I have a Compaq Presario. How do I repartition/reformat through BIOS?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMB Asus P5N-T Deluxe, Just upgraded from Core 2 Duo to Core 2 Quad. Cannot enter BIOS. At boot the message "new CPU fitted to get best results update your BIOS". When pressing DEL it says entering BIOS but doesn't. Tried using the Installation disc but get a blue screen saying windows shut 'cos new H/w or S/W fitted. How can I update the BIOS if it can't be got? Will it mean replacing the CPU - downloading and installing the updated BIOS then refitting the Core 2 Quad?
View 8 Replies View Relatedi'm using A GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3R (rev. 1.0) MOTHERBOARD WITH THE Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 / 3.00 GHz processor. i set the vcore in the bios and bootup the system and run cpu-z version 1.46. the bios is set to 1.20 and CPU-Z reads it as 1.16. what reading should i trust? also this board seems to be crap for overclocking. my other board with the e8400 chip will do 4+ ghz. this one i can't get over 3.6ghz and so far thats not stable. my temps are 44c and loaded 56c.
