I'm new this process and am hoping that someone can lend a hand. I understand how BIOS flashing works and the risks involved, but I'm not sure how to find the file to dl and how to actually complete the 'flash'.

well i jus got a standard p5k board...updated the bios from 704 to the beta 0805...some of my oc settings had to be reset and set again...not that big of a deal...but now everything works..except my Ai Suite...which im guessn my sensors and all with my bios? but speedfan and pc probe II works...so something wrong with the program...hmm i mite jus uninstall and reinstall....or BIOS?? i dont kno well sorry for the big pic..

Does anyone have any information for me?? ....65N Rast to disable the TBL patch in the BIOS in order for this to work. I do not know where to diable this patch on my mainboard. View 5 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I install drivers I get the message that my BIOS is out of date (including updates from AMD) if I go to the Phoenix site it says go to the motherboard manufacturer or run Biosagent if you use this you pay for the update but you do get this info so is it worth e-mail gateway support, using the boisagent or just leave well alone.

My brother has just built a computer and can't get it working. The problem is that when he starts it he gets to the screen where he can choose to enter BIOS. 9/10 times he can't do anything from there but 1/10 times he can press delete and then it says "loading bios" but it freezes there (he waited 30 mins nothing happened). Does anyone know what the problem mihht be?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been messing around in my BIOS. Installing some faster RAM and trying a slight overclock (2.4 t0 2.7Ghz on a Q6600) and seem to have caused myself several problems. Firstly I tried to push it a bit further on the FSB- from 1200 to 1300-the system wouldn't boot and wouldn't let me into the BIOS. I eventually got round this by removing the mobo battery. I was able to get back into the BIOS and revert to my original oc. However when I booted I got a re register Windows this is not a genuine version notice. I had to 'phone microsoft and get a new activation ID. I'm now back in windows (Vista HP 64 bit) but seem to have a few left over issues. My clock was set back to 2006 and that meant I couldn't activate Gmail etc. I went back into the BIOS and reset the date but could not change the day. So it's 3.19PM on Monday the 22nd of September, 2008. I've tried everything I can think of but cannot find a way to make it Friday, which it is.
Also I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. This keeps reporting that my computer is at risk and I need to update. I've updated over a dozen times but it doesn't seem to change and is still telling me it needs to update. These are ther first problems I have noticed. I hope I don't find more. Does anyone have any advice as to how to get my day and date correct and how to convince Kaspersky it's up to date?
I have been trying to copy some folders from external HDD and whenever I do it, I receive the message. I noticed that if the folder is not big, the copy is completed, but if it is a little big, I receive the message. I also have tried to use drag-and-drog, but it is the same thing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI performed the complete PC backup but I don't know if it worked and if it did, what discs are valid. It was a confusing process. I have 36 GB to backup and it said it should take 3-5 DVD discs. When I inserted the first disc it said to label it, including the date and time of the backup followed by "1". It did the same thing four times, and each time the progress bar started from the beginning. After the fourth disk, it finally went through verifying the disc and the progress bar went further. It told me to label backup was complete. The last two discs are readable but the other three are not. Did the system back up all 36 GB on two DVDs? If there were errors writing to some discs then it should tell me that the discs are not part of the backup set.

So I rebooted and went to backup and restore center to make one. There is no backup button. Is this because I have home Premium? It's not offered on Home Premium. Is there a Freeware program that I could use to make it appear on the System repair menu?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI downloaded en_windows_vista_enterprise_with_service_pack_1_x64_dvd_x14-55934.iso and burned it to a DVD. Then I ran SETUP.EXE on a 64-bit Vista system. The installation ran as an UPGRADE for hours. Literally hours. When I awakened in the morning, the computer was stalled in the cleanup phase of installation. I power cycled the computer. Vista decided the Upgrade was a failure and reverted to the state before the Upgrade started. I see no reason for this behavior.

I don't know that much about computers, what can i do to load this game, as i have completed all the other myst games apart from the path of the shell. I'm that obessed with the myst games, if all ele's fails i will just have to buy another computer that runs on windows xp.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with Vista SP1 installing (No seriously! Nobody else having the issue, right??). It gets through 100% of stage 3 of 3, then after a minute or two says the "Setup did not complete. Reverting changes." message. Before the Microsoft super wizard got on the phone with me, I had already done a memory scan, chkdisk, scannow, file cleanup, defrag, nothing helped (I have Home Premium, and I do have the two required updates installed as well). When he connected to my computer, he tried to install right off the bat (a stupid thing to do, considering I wouldn't be calling if I didn't have the issue) and it of course failed. Then after checking to make sure no antivirus etc was active (which I uninstalled the day before) he disabled all non-Microsoft services from startup and disabled my TV card, sound card and graphics card, then tried again. Still didn't install. Lastly he installed some kind of tool from Microsoft's update site and tried to install SP1 again, this time from the standalone 500+mb version. No luck.
He scheduled a call today between 3 and 5pm from one of their research and developement team members to get deeper into the problem, but do any of you have any ideas what's going on?

Today, I was forced to use my Vista Ultimate installation disc to reinstall Vista - since yesterday morning, my computer was not able to get out of a loop (first going to Windows Error Recovery and then, when selecting any of the options, going to the green loading bar, where it the green bar stopped moving about 2/3 of the way, and going back to Windows Error Recovery).
The installation went smoothly enough, but I am absolutely clueless how to get my computer to roughly the same conditions it was before this fiasco. Fortunately, it would appear that all of my files and folders from before this re-installation have been saved in the folder Windows.old. However, I am at a complete loss as to how to reconfigure my Internet connection, how to restore my previous screen resolution (there are now only three options for resolution under Display Settings), and essentially getting the basics back in order.
I run Vista Home Premium and have been informed that it has built in backup capability to make a 'dic image' of my entire computer similar to what "Ghost" does.
however, I cannot locate the starting point which I was told is under the 'system and maintenance' heading in Control Panel. in my control panel there is no such system and maintenance setting.
now i know there is an automatic way of backing up files and folders using windows vista but i was wondering if there was a way of automatically backing up my complete system. now i've tried using Acronis True Image for this but i'm afraid that i won't be able to restore if my boot drive gets corrupt or i don't have an OS to installed Acronis to and load the back up image.

I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 and the drive I'm trying to back up to is just a secondary SATA drive.
I have tested the Complete PC Backup feature several times. It bombs out 75% of the time. Has anyone experimented with this feature? What were your results?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe hard drive was of SATA type. I attempted to use VHD file to migrate the system from the old hdd to the new hdd but failed. The following was the steps taken:
1. Created a VHD file on the laptop machine and stored it on an USB interfaced external hdd.
2. Temporarily installed the new SATA hdd on a desktop machine and created partitions including data partitions.
3. Moved the VHD file to one of the data partitions on the new hdd.
4. Replaced the old hdd on the laptop machine with the new hdd.
5. On the laptop machine, the first primary partition of the new hdd was set active since the Vista system was installed on the first partition of the old hdd.
6. Started the laptop machine, let the system boot from the installer DVD and selected "Repair".
7. "PC Complete Restore" was selected. The installer located the VHD file and the restore process began.
Then the following message was displayed:
The Windows Complete PC Restore operation failed.
Error details: The parameter is incorrect.(0x80070057)
I want to build a PC. I've browsed around the 'net looking for information on Complete PC Backup. The only thing that I've found on the 'net explains how to do a backup & restore. I've browsed around the Microsoft Vista discussion groups & found out that it is possible to do incremental (I wish that it would do differential instead of incremental backups.) as well as full backups.
Can I give the backup files names or does Windows? For example, before I install certain software can I give the backup a file name such as "before installijng XYZ software"? The way I understand it with incremental backups, the full backup has to be restored first & then the incremental backups are restored next starting with the oldest & proceeding to the latest. Since the Complete PC Backup does incremental backups, does the Restore wizard restore the incremental backups in order?
When I use my Windows Mail (Vista) there are a few of my contacts that will 'auto complete' but not all of them. I have the setting set properly, and some work. I have about five that begin with "J" and only one of them will auto complete. On the others I have to type the entire address.
Backup did not complete successfully. I am running Business Vista 32bit on a HP Compaq desktop with 3 GB of RAM and 100GB hard disk drive. Over the past two months I have had my document folder backed up to a W2K Server folder-automatically. Last week, I got the following error message: "The backup did not complete successfully. A shadow copy could not be created for the following reasons: Incompatible version of the serializing package (0x81070724)."
I went to another Business Vista computer on the same network, and backed up to the same Server folder (Userbackups) without any problems. I am not interested in Acronis True Image 2009. I would like to continue using the automatic backup feature that came with Vista.
I have a 1 TB Samsung hard drive divided into 3 partitions of C:, E:, and F: When I try to run Windows Complete PC Backup, it automatically selects C: and E: It lists E: as a system drive, even though it has no OS on it and I only use it for data backups. I only wish to backup C: as it has the OS and installed programs (I use a different process to back up other data).

The backup help on my system tells me that the tool for this task is a "PC Complete backup", but also that this is not available on Vista home versions. Apparently this system backup must be burned on a CD (or DVD), but where can I find a utility that does just that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs long as I've worked with Computers, (about 30 years) I've never had an Operating System that was so poorly designed that I can't do anything without having to jump through multiple hoops, in order to accomplish what I need to do. I want to know how to set Windows Vista up so that I can get some work done. All of my computers are networked, (5 of them) and I am the only person who operates them. I need to be able to access any file, or folder, from any computer, on the network. I need be able to read, write, delete, cut & paste, rename, or perform any other operation, on any file, or folder, from any computer, without getting "Access Denied" messages. I own these computers, Microsoft doesn't!
As the only user, I am also the administrator, and yet I attempted for almost an hour tonight, to Rename a Folder, that I created, and I still have not been able to do that. When I go to the Help information, The Instructions are Wrong! There is no option on the "Action" Menu called "New Share," and I shouldn't need to go through using a Command Line to accomplish a task that should be simple........
I'm running Vista Ultimate 32bit and I'm trying to do another Complete PC Backup to an external 500gb USB drive and I'm getting error (0x80780048) due to not enough free space left on the backup drive. The screen before says, if there is not enough free space it will start deleting prior backups starting with the oldest. This does not seem to be the case as advertised! I do scheduled regular data backups once a week and every month or more I also do a manual Complete PC Backup. Is my only resort to reformat my external
500gb backup drive and start over with a fresh complete pc backup until the drive fills up again? I thought this was a cool feature with Vista Ultimate (which made me buy it over the Premium edition) but it does not automatically delete the oldest backups to make room?
