I have 2 PC, one with Vista Home Basic, and one with XP pro. I use a VPN connection to log into a win 2003 server on work. Everything works ok with the XP pro PC. I use a bat file to map a path on the server, but on the Vista PC I get error 53 (path not found) and it is impossible to map the path. I can ping the server by IP from both PC's.
I can access the Vista laptop through the desktop PC XP SP2 which is wired to the router but I can't acces the desktop pc via the laptop which is connected wirelessly, though it shows it in the "Network" window. I get an error that says Windows cannot access (computer name) error code:0x80070035 network path was not found. Then it offers to diagnose and then when it has finished, it says "Cannot communicate with (Computer name) 192.168.1.3" This seems strange as I can access Vista with XP but not XP with Vista.
Trying to install a program here. It included a DirectX 9 install which I canceled. Running Vista64 Ultimate here. The program dies on start with an error - d3dx9.dll is not found. The developers website says it needs DX9 and that users of DX10 / Vista need not worry as both 9 and 10 sit side by side in the same install. Can anyone confirm this is correct. I'd prefer to NOT mess with my DX10 configuration.
I have been getting bluescreen previously and did a test using MEMTEST86+ and found error. So I sent my Laptop to HP Center and they checked the RAM and found that there is no problem with the RAM and Harddisk. So they replaced the motherboard, after that I reformatted my laptop and reinstalled Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 with all latest updates and I checked using MEMTEST86+ again (boot version) and no error found.
Its the third day reinstalled my OS with latest driver and bios, now I am still getting bluescreen. Even the technician at the HP center blamed my Windows previously but I already reformatted my laptop. Why am I still getting bluescreen?
Here I attached all my minidump! It contains 3 minidump. Please help me, I am working everyday and I do not have time to send it over to HP center for checking. I am only free at night where HP center is closed already. I know I can trust the help from this forum.
I've had an account that has worked for a while now, but now when I try to email pictures or anything, I get a message that says no profile has been created... so I treid recreating my profile, and whenI get to the whole pop3 server thing, I get a message that says "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'md38.embarq.synacor.com (1)', Server: 'md38.embarq.synacor.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F" can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm terrible at anything technical, and I'm completely lost...

Subject 'HELP', Account: 'pop3', Server: 'SMTP', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D.
I have a new WD external hard drive that I'm trying use with Vista Ultimate, but when I connect the drive I get an error message saying, "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. USB Mass Storage Device Access is denied" I found a KB article which seems to be related, but even after acquiring and installing the hotfix I still can't get the drive to install. KB Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937187 How can I fix this? It's very frustrating a bit ridiculous that installing a simple mass storage device fails.
am using windows mail with Vista home premium. When there is an embedded link in an email I cannot open it. It gives an error message of application not found.
I'm not sure if I have something is blocked or I don't have something or something. But say If I get an email with a link to some site and I click on it , I get an error "Application not found" ... my internet explorer works fine... not sure what's wrong
I have Vista Home Premium. With WinXP, the path to a file appeared in a text box at the top of Windows Explorer. So it was easy to copy and paste the path (for example, into a DOS console). Is there an option that allows us to display this path in Vista?
I am tryigng to learn Vista-64 bit. I have a shortcut on my desktop for Excel. I want to find the .exe file for excel. RIght clicking on the shortcut and looking at either Properties/general (which tells me where the "SHORTCUT "is located or Properties /shortcut gives me the line "Target" but just shows the name of the file and not its location. In XP The line "target" would show the path. How do I find the path?
I like to keep my games in good condition, so I usually make an image and use Daemon to play. However, when I try to overwrite with a no-cd Patch a box pops up saying I need Permission.I have taken ownership, tried it as the 'HIDDEN ADMIN', etc; but all to no avail.can anyone think of anything? It's the only problem I have had with Vista x 64
here's the problem: If I double-click on an Excel file, I get the following message: "Windows cannot find /path/. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." Excel opens up fine, but without the workbook. If, within Excel, I open the file up using OfficeOrb -> Open, it opens just fine.
every day my Vista SP1 gets disconnected from the corporate DFS share right after I stop working with my Vista SP1 Enterprise computer for an hour. We have two different type Vista SP1 computers in our network, and they both behave the same.
I just get an Event ID No 9, in Operational Log of Offline Files "Path disconnected. \company.comDFSshare", and that's it. Any clues. Power management, or something?
i decided to install Medieval 2 Total War yesterday after months of not playing it, it installed fine and everything but when i went to click on the shortcut on the desktop it came up with the following message: Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item So, i'm on the admin account and i've tried re installing but its the same message.
I tried to install CoD4 just now but when i put the disk in and clicked install nothing happened, just like when i try and launch medieval 2 from the disk (i only get the message when i use the shortcut). I also get the same message when i try and install the software for my webcam, i go to my computer and click the disk drive but the same message comes up! I can launch games i've already installed, just not games i actually want to play! Maybe something i've done is blocking it?
When I try to open some of my programs they won't open or run.A message box opens and says: "WINDOWS CANNOT ACCESS THE SPECIFIED DEVICE PATH OR FILE.YOU MAY NOT HAVE THE APPROPRIATE PERMISSIONS TO ACCESS THE ITEM."I get this too if I try a program from the toolbar, and sometimes when I open I.E.8 but it still opens.Vista x32. This box also appears when I download and prevents it from downloading.
This was the path to my stationery folder before I used Revo unstaller to uninstall the program "malwarebot remover" C:UsersOwnerAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows MailStationery. Now AppData no longer appears and the Local folder is empty. Did the uninstaller cause this and is it necessary to have these items in the list? I now access my stationery folder in this way: C:program filescommon filesmicrosoft sharedstationery. Just curious about why the original path is no longer there and if AppData and Local folders are necessary for anything. If so, how do I get them back? I have a new computer an Emachine with Vista Home Basic and I use Windows Mail.
Windows Vista 64 home premium is arguably the most popular Operating System worldwide (for new computers) I have a legitimate copy of Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit DVD in my possession, with the key ready, and everything.
1. A consumer cannot upgrade xp Professional to vista HOME edition without a clean install 2. A consumer cannot upgrade a 32 bit OS to 64 bit OS without a clean install 3. Theres no such thing as XP Home 64 bit OS 4. The upgrade key fails to activate a clean install (works upgrade only)
There seems to be no upgrade path available. Is this true? If this is true, isnt the concept of a 64 bit Vista Home premium Upgrade DVD useless? and if that is also true, then why did microsoft sell me this DVD?
I have installed RCT 3, when i press the short cut I get an error message saying "Windows cannot acess the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to acess the item." And when I go in to computer and click on RCT3 it goes on to the little menu, I press play
I have reciently started to use windows vista and am now very familiar with all parts of it but there is one problem I wish to find out more about. In windows XP the "My Documents folder was lacated in a very logical place, on vista it is just called "Documents" and is arranged differently. My images and music etc are seperate from Documents folder and are all subfolders in my user profile. My question is: Is this path for Documents folder correct or should it be located in another place: "C:UsersUsers NameSaved GamesDocuments ?
About a week ago my trial sub to Tend Micro expired. I uninstalled Trend (i have a full version Avast 4.8 home /license key) but immediately started getting this error msg --Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item -- when trying to open any applications, files/programs from desktop shortcuts. I also cannot open these programs from their file locations or as administrator.
I recently purchased as laptop and had a professional, who I can no longer reach, as he is on the other side of the country, transfer my favorites list from old to new computer. Now, when I launch IE 7 (?) it tells me that my favorites are in a path that is not available. I also have mozilla Firefox and its Bookmarks are working fine. How can I find and/or change or re-link my IE favorites file. When I try to add new links to my favorites with IE they disappear and become inaccessible too. How can I create a proper path to put my favorites in.
i use firefox and i installed this add-on called easy Internet video downloader 1.1 . it works fine, but the file i downloaded (mp4) went to my appdata folder. i want to change the folder path to something that is easier to access. so how do i change the folder path for those particular files i downloaded off Internet?
When you are in explorer and are manually typing in a long folder path or at a command prompt navigating through many directories, below are two cool tips that will help you save time.
The first is one that I have been using for years. When working at a command prompt, instead to typing in the full text of an item, just hit the tab key to bring up full items. For example, say I want to change the directory to the Windows folder. At a command prompt I would type in CD wind and then hit the tab key and "Windows" will automatically show up. Think of the tab key as a kind of auto complete for DOS. This same technique also works in Windows Explorer.....
I have three computers networked together via a Linksys Wireless Router. One Dell running XP Pro, and two HP laptops (wireless) one running Vista Ultimate x64 and the other running Vista Home Premium x32. I have all issues resolved (that I've discovered so far anyway) except one. There is a shared external hard drive conneced via USB to the XP, which I have mapped to both Vistas. I can see it when I open 'My Computer' but when I click on it I get an error that says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to view the item." The odd thing about it is that I can access the contents of the drive by right-clicking on it and choosing either 'explore' or 'open.' I can access drives mapped from the Vista(s) to the XP on the XP just fine, just not the other way around.
When I begin installng physx every thing goes ok, but when it is about to finish. Translating things that is not in english: Error 1935. Error when installing assembly. OR "Error when trying to install assembly" Last LINE: "Contact help and suport for more information"
