Trying to install a program here. It included a DirectX 9 install which I canceled. Running Vista64 Ultimate here. The program dies on start with an error - d3dx9.dll is not found. The developers website says it needs DX9 and that users of DX10 / Vista need not worry as both 9 and 10 sit side by side in the same install. Can anyone confirm this is correct. I'd prefer to NOT mess with my DX10 configuration.

he found the dll and added it to spore bin, he hasn't noticed similar problem on his laptop, he has a replica of my computer) Noticed that spider solitaire had major problem. Loaded game and noticed major graphics problem. Also noticed that problem let up a small bit as game continued running. Noticed that rendering of creature "skins" was quite slow. Did system restore to day before trial download. Found that spider solitaire looked like it should. Attempted to start spore, got dll error. Did as husband had done, found dll, put in sporeapp folder. Game started, still have graphics problem. Spider solitaire is screwed up again. I have also attempted to update my drivers (no luck)........
I simply dont know what directx I have now. I cant see it anywhere, but when I try to run and download directx form microsoft site it says that I got one on my computer. But where is it? Its not in the C disk, its not in The D disk. I cant see it in install uninstall programms directory. So how can I see what kind of directx ive got? I would like to completely delete all of it and install a new direct x 10. Some body tell me please how to delete all the existing direct x and where is it?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 2 PC, one with Vista Home Basic, and one with XP pro. I use a VPN connection to log into a win 2003 server on work. Everything works ok with the XP pro PC. I use a bat file to map a path on the server, but on the Vista PC I get error 53 (path not found) and it is impossible to map the path. I can ping the server by IP from both PC's.

So I sent my Laptop to HP Center and they checked the RAM and found that there is no problem with the RAM and Harddisk. So they replaced the motherboard, after that I reformatted my laptop and reinstalled Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 with all latest updates and I checked using MEMTEST86+ again (boot version) and no error found.
Its the third day reinstalled my OS with latest driver and bios, now I am still getting bluescreen. Even the technician at the HP center blamed my Windows previously but I already reformatted my laptop. Why am I still getting bluescreen?
Here I attached all my minidump! It contains 3 minidump. Please help me, I am working everyday and I do not have time to send it over to HP center for checking. I am only free at night where HP center is closed already. I know I can trust the help from this forum.

"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. USB Mass Storage Device Access is denied" I found a KB article which seems to be related, but even after acquiring and installing the hotfix I still can't get the drive to install. I got FSX Deluxe today and after running both disks and installing the game I get a notice saying: "Flight Simulator cannot run because the version of Microsoft DirectX(R) installed on your computer is incompatible. Please reinstall DirectX 9.0 by running Flight Simulator Setup, or download the current version from www.microsoft.com/directx."
I have downloaded the November 2008 Update from several websites and I am able to run them and get to the point that it brings up the "Installing Components" screen and then a notice comes up saying: "Setup has detected one or more DirectX component files are in-use by an application. Please exit all applications before running DirectX setup agian." After that it brings up a screen saying that the installation has failed with a "finish" button. I have closed all files and tried agian, restarted my computer and tried, turned my computer all the way off let it sit and read it a story and tried agian, I have combed through the processes in Task Manager and removed any that I believe could have been using DirectX and tried all the combinations above agian.
I am running a Dell Inspiron 1525 with 32 bit Vista Ultimate, and haven't had problems with any other games up to this point (World of Warcraft, Age of Empires, Halo, ect.). I am sorry if this is a repeat thread, I've been all over the place looking for possible answers and haven't found anything.
My laptop (Hp Pavilion dv6500 Notebook Pc) had a crash yesterday but after shutting it down and restarting it, all seemd to be normal. But today when I wanted to play some Generals I got a nasty suprise. I started up the game and I got a message saying I didn't have the right directx version. This is weird since I've been playing the game for almost a year now on this laptop. Anyway, I thought maybe something got corrupted after the crash. I startend another game just to make sure and it too gave me an error that I didn't had a proper directx version.
So I checked dxdiag and it said I had directx 10 as my latest version, which is what I had before the crash. I've updated all my drivers, reinstalled directx and reinstalled my games but nothing seems to work. I hope someone could point me out a direction that might help me fix this problem. I'm a student I seriously need my games for some relaxation .
I have a brand new latest Intel chipped nVidia SLI PC with Vista Home Premium 64 bit OS. I am trying to update DirectX to 9.0c and get an installation failure which states "A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted. Please verify the Cryptographic Services are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is valid".
1) Checked that the Cryptographic Services are set to automatic
2) Run DXWebSetup as Administrator
3) Used RegSvr32 across all the crypto DLLs.
4) Unchecked the Certificate check boxes in IE / Tools / Options / Advanced....
I cannot check the validity of the cabinet file certificate as it is probably on-line and I have no idea where it is!! What is frustrating is that all Vista Drivers are signed by my companies Time Stamp Server....maybe the certificate on this cabinet file has expired....anyway - This must be a common problem (judging by the forums) but there is no Microsoft documented solution.
There is what looks to be a November 08 update to DirectX, but on three different machines I have not been able to get the dxwebsetup.exe to work. Every time I run the executable I get “Installing components: Initializing…”, then “Setup could not download the file. Please retry later or check network connection”. The redistributable is still showing Aug. 08.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've lost the sound on my laptop and I don't know how to get it back. I have an HP Compaq nx9430 with 2 Gigs of RAM. Everything was going great after a clean install of Vista when all of the sudden (I don't know what happened or updated) the sound stopped working. Now, the strange thing about the sound is that I can uninstall everything, get rid of the dlls and .sys files for the drivers. Do a clean install of the sound drivers from HP's website and I can press my mute button to get the icon in the systray to go to mute and back. There are even little "sound waves" coming from the speaker in the systray. However, when I open Mixer, I can see "Speakers" but in the "Applications" groupbox, Windows Sounds and none of my applications come up. Applications is empty - yes, totally missing Has anyone ever run across this before? If so, what did you do to fix it? I'm at my wits end as I can't listen to music on my laptop while I'm at a coffee shop coding anymore!!
View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently I had to replace my motherboard AND hard drive, so my computer was basically wiped of everything. I saved the files that I could, and moved them, and they work fine. Before this, the sims 2 (and the EP's that I had for it) all worked perfectly. The problem now is that I do not think DX10 is compatible with TS2, despite the fact that "directx 10 is backwards compatible" (which it does not appear to be.) From what I understand, I cannot uninstall DX10. THis is a little ridiculous; no directx software came with my computer, and I had to install it. DX10 is supposed to have all of the DX 9.0c updates, but what if it doesn't? Is there a way or a place that I can put DX 9.0c files into DX10? Is there some way that I can check the DX10 files to make sure what I need is there? IF those are failed options, is there a program that I can install which will uninstall DX10 so that I can install DX 9.0c?
