There is what looks to be a November 08 update to DirectX, but on three different machines I have not been able to get the dxwebsetup.exe to work. Every time I run the executable I get “Installing components: Initializing…”, then “Setup could not download the file. Please retry later or check network connection”. The redistributable is still showing Aug. 08.
View 5 RepliesWent to install the update for DirectX and the installation failed with error messege saying a cab file couldnt be trusted and to make sure Cryptographics was activated to verify the file. Cryptographic services in " services" is set to automatic and started so its running. Running Kaspersky AV, I shut it down when I ran the installer...Attached is the error Mess.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with starting Lineage 2 Interlude on Windows Vista Business x64. After Windows install, and after updates, i installed the Lineage 2 Interlude client and worked at well. BUT after Directx update the client crashed, with this error message.
After this message, the client is started but i can't log in. (Access failed...)
Three reason what may be the source of errors:
- DirectX (redistributable, the newest)
- .Net Framework (2.0 or/and 3.0)
- Visual C++ 2005/2008 Redistributable package x64 (once with 2008 x64 package the client is worked, after Windows restart the problem is was the same).
my computer is a Toshiba Satellite, and it will not install updates or shutdown properly. When I try to shut it down properly it says configuring updates I left it like this for a couple of hours and it made no difference. I am writing this thread on it now, and it runs perfectly other than the updates. It has flashed me a Blue Screen twice, and has never had this problem before. I need to know any Solutions before I completely wipe this partition and install XP.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed the vista 64 system updates. I found that this caused my system update to fail. upon using these forums I found that others with this issue, could not get this to be fixed, without reinstalling/repairing of the operating system..
what I found was microsoft office SP2 was the cause of the problem..the trusted installer was missing in the windows servicing folder....
My Confusions :
1.) A week ago Brink said SP1 was not available through Windows Update( WU ), while at the same time .Joe indicated it was available in website and WU. ( I read those threads .)
2.) Someone said something about driver not upgraded and therefore it was not offered in the WU for those users. Does that mean I'm one of those?
3.) .Joe said that there are 2 prequisites for installing SP1 (it's from the same thread I mentioned .)
a) First prerequsite includes updates to the servicing stack, which I never saw it in WU.
b) 2nd includes updates required to reliably install or uninstall the service pack, which I never saw in WU either.
4.) We all saw the " horror stories " posted in this forum regarding problems during installing and after installing SP1. It got me worried.
5.) I still do not see SP1 offered in WU, optional or otherwise.
I have done a "clean" reinstall of Vista Ultimate two days ago and everything is running exceptionally well on this machine. So I feel a little guilty nit-picking about one update that continues to fail. It is KB947562 that fails with an error code of 8024200D.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy vista desktop did an auto restart on its on last night and began 'updating' I left it on and went to bed. This morning it was stuck on 'shutting down' I did a hard reset and restarted in save network mode. After the normal dos info on safe mode setup I got a screen saying 'configuring updates'. After about 15 minutes it went to shutting down and its been over 2 hours shutting down. I have no idea what 'updates' it is trying to install. My guess is whatever came out on Tuesday as I use auto update/download. I am using an older xp machine to write this question. The vista machine was bought with vista ultimate installed in March of 07. It is a dual core intel 2.4. I have had no problems with update until today.

I get a Windows Update error message 8007000b. I ran the command prompt as administrator, typed in fsutil resource setautoreset true C:. And I get a message saying “The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable”
I have tried to download updates 1 at a time, turned off my anti virus And tried manual updates as well. My Error checking is not working “windows can’t check the disk while it’s in use” And schedule disk check does not work. The System File Checker tool gives the message “windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them”. The windows memory diagnostic tool runs, reboots and does not display any results
Im assuming that Vista has come with DirectX10 already installed on it? Correct? I was wondering if I have to install DirectX 9 on my computer as well to get Medieval II to work since it says that DirectX 9 is required?

I have 4GB of RAM and recognized by Vista but DirectX shows only 3070MB.

I got FSX Deluxe today and after running both disks and installing the game I get a notice saying: "Flight Simulator cannot run because the version of Microsoft DirectX(R) installed on your computer is incompatible. Please reinstall DirectX 9.0 by running Flight Simulator Setup, or download the current version from www.microsoft.com/directx."
I have downloaded the November 2008 Update from several websites and I am able to run them and get to the point that it brings up the "Installing Components" screen and then a notice comes up saying: "Setup has detected one or more DirectX component files are in-use by an application. Please exit all applications before running DirectX setup agian." After that it brings up a screen saying that the installation has failed with a "finish" button. I have closed all files and tried agian, restarted my computer and tried, turned my computer all the way off let it sit and read it a story and tried agian, I have combed through the processes in Task Manager and removed any that I believe could have been using DirectX and tried all the combinations above agian.
I am running a Dell Inspiron 1525 with 32 bit Vista Ultimate, and haven't had problems with any other games up to this point (World of Warcraft, Age of Empires, Halo, ect.). I am sorry if this is a repeat thread, I've been all over the place looking for possible answers and haven't found anything.
My laptop (Hp Pavilion dv6500 Notebook Pc) had a crash yesterday but after shutting it down and restarting it, all seemd to be normal. But today when I wanted to play some Generals I got a nasty suprise. I started up the game and I got a message saying I didn't have the right directx version. This is weird since I've been playing the game for almost a year now on this laptop. Anyway, I thought maybe something got corrupted after the crash. I startend another game just to make sure and it too gave me an error that I didn't had a proper directx version.
So I checked dxdiag and it said I had directx 10 as my latest version, which is what I had before the crash. I've updated all my drivers, reinstalled directx and reinstalled my games but nothing seems to work. I hope someone could point me out a direction that might help me fix this problem. I'm a student I seriously need my games for some relaxation .
I have a brand new latest Intel chipped nVidia SLI PC with Vista Home Premium 64 bit OS. I am trying to update DirectX to 9.0c and get an installation failure which states "A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted. Please verify the Cryptographic Services are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is valid".
1) Checked that the Cryptographic Services are set to automatic
2) Run DXWebSetup as Administrator
3) Used RegSvr32 across all the crypto DLLs.
4) Unchecked the Certificate check boxes in IE / Tools / Options / Advanced....
I cannot check the validity of the cabinet file certificate as it is probably on-line and I have no idea where it is!! What is frustrating is that all Vista Drivers are signed by my companies Time Stamp Server....maybe the certificate on this cabinet file has expired....anyway - This must be a common problem (judging by the forums) but there is no Microsoft documented solution.

I've lost the sound on my laptop and I don't know how to get it back. I have an HP Compaq nx9430 with 2 Gigs of RAM. Everything was going great after a clean install of Vista when all of the sudden (I don't know what happened or updated) the sound stopped working. Now, the strange thing about the sound is that I can uninstall everything, get rid of the dlls and .sys files for the drivers. Do a clean install of the sound drivers from HP's website and I can press my mute button to get the icon in the systray to go to mute and back. There are even little "sound waves" coming from the speaker in the systray. However, when I open Mixer, I can see "Speakers" but in the "Applications" groupbox, Windows Sounds and none of my applications come up. Applications is empty - yes, totally missing Has anyone ever run across this before? If so, what did you do to fix it? I'm at my wits end as I can't listen to music on my laptop while I'm at a coffee shop coding anymore!!

But where is it? Its not in the C disk, its not in The D disk. I cant see it in install uninstall programms directory. So how can I see what kind of directx ive got? I would like to completely delete all of it and install a new direct x 10. Some body tell me please how to delete all the existing direct x and where is it?
