Email In Microsoft Outlook Indexing

Facing problems regarding searching email in Microsoft Outlook. I think this is due to Indexing. I have tried to rebuild the Indexing but it shows 0 item indexed all the time. Now my questions are as below:
1) How much time it takes to rebuild the Indexing ? My approx. MS Outlook .pst file size is around 2.8 GB.
2) i had a virus called warm.silly.nisan in SeachProtocolHost.exe. Does this effect indexing or searching email in MS Outlook ?
3) I was stressed due to this problem and tryied to "rebuild" Indexing but it was taking more than 24 hrs and so i went to Indexing options in Control panel and then in advance options i did "Restore Defaults". Which also took to much time and all the times it shows "o items indexed". Can anyone tell me what is the acually problem in indexing ?
4) Do this indexing has any relation with "regedit". If yes then what are the files in regedit i have to check and for what parameters.?

I am using Vista Home premium 32 bit and i am using windows mail for all my emails. I also have office 2007 with Microsoft Outlook.
Problem is that i want to use microsoft Outlook but i can't transfer/export my email accounts from Vista Windows mail to Microsoft Outlook or even outlook express for XP. I have forgotten 3 critical passwords so I cannot recreate the email accounts in Outlook....
How can I export my email accounts to microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express from Vista Windows mail?

I have a problem within Outlook 2007 when ever I try and search through my emails. Whenever I perform a search of any of my mail folders, I get no results and a message saying 'Search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexed. Click here for more details'. When I click for more details, I receive a message saying 'Outlook is currently indexing your items'. And telling me that 7695 items are reminaing in personal folders, and 17987 items are remaining across all open mailboxes. The problem is that this number never goes down, and has been like this ever since I started using the program. Could it be that the indexing is stuck
somehow?

I'm running Vista x64 and Outlook (Office) 2007. I've used Outlook's "Data File Management" menu to re-locate my .pst files to a separate drive (a raid array) so they wouldn't be on my boot drive. However, since that move, the Indexing function doesn't seem to be working. I have tried using the Index Service "advanced" options to "rebuild" the index, and it finishes in under a minute, clearly not having processed my .pst files. Is there a "more advanced" function hidden somewhere that will enable me to tell the Index service that my pst files aren't in the standard location?

I have been using Microsoft Outlook 2007 for about two weeks everything was working fine. I have not change the way I used this program. I have used Microsoft Outlook 2002 for a few years so I had no real problems until recently. I save many of the e-mails I receive in either text or HTML format with no problem. When I save an e-mail now in
either text or HTML now, a folder is automatically created with the same name I have created the e-mail I have created. The e-mail which I save is not saved in the folder which automatically appears. What is in the folder are three files: colorschememapping, filelist, and themedata. If after I save the file then go back and delete the folder with the same name as the file, both the folder and the e-mail which I saved are
deleted. I do not know what is going on. Now my computer is getting filled up with e-mail messages I want to keep and folders that I really do not want. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I am aboutready to pull my hair out.

can both run on one vista computer. Microsoft mail with one email provider (work) and outlook with another(school)? any special setup required. I suppose each will have its own contact manager, but one could be used.

I have been using Office 2007 for about a year, and this morning something changed. Historically, when I would designate a mail item for permanent deletion (by hitting shift and delete at the same time), a dialog box would pop up asking me if I was sure that I wanted that item to be permanently deleted. When the dialog box appeared, a sound was made simultaneously. (I believe that if I clicked yes to the question in the dialog box, another sound was made.) Today, for no apparent reason, there are no sounds made. I opened Control Panel and selected "sounds" to see if Outlook was among the programs listed where certain actions within a program are accentuated with sounds, but i see that Outlook is not listed. I restored the Sounds from "modified default" to "Windows Default" and re-started Outlook, but the sound was not restored. Does anyone know how to restore my sounds?

I m trying to get the microsoft outlook set up and I can not get it to work I have tried everything that the disscusion groups say to do and nothing helps...I can't send or receive emails at all I thought I would delete it and start over but I can't even find a spot to do that

move files from an XP to a Vista machine and exported all of his Outlook Express email, copied that file to the desktop on the Vista machine, then imported it into Vista's email program. However the folder for email is now on his desktop, and is called Old Email backup. I know that one of these days he is going to delete it and wonder where his email went. What is the default folder it should have created the email in? I will move it there.

Any one have any issues with part of the words on the left hand side of the screen missing when microsoft office outlook is open? It's really wierd, sometimes the whole word is there and somtimes like the last one or two letters are mising but nothing that seems regular from day to day. Like on the name "Sent Items" sometimes it just says "Sent Iten"

I've been experiencing some problems with the Windows Vista Home Premium Edition lately. It all started when my Internet Explorer or Microsoft Office Outlook kept on getting stuck, and I would get a note that Internet Explorer / Outlook is restarting. I've been experiencing this problem in particular only with these two.
Next - as of yesterday, I started getting all these weird messages when logging onto familiar websites, such as Google and even Microsoft, about how there's a problem with the websites' security certificate, and that it's expired, so I have to click on "Continue to this website" every single time, and the worst part is that I can't logon to my MSN Messenger! The Error Code is: 80048820, and the Extended Error Code is: 80048412. I've tried working with their Troubleshoot, but nothing works! It's strange, because my Skype is working perfectly fine.
I don't live at home, so MSN is a very important communication tool for me. The third problem is that all of the usual Windows Updates, which are normally downloaded automatically, are not downloaded anymore, and I get a message that the Updates could not be downloaded.

I have Vista Home Premium and a brand new Dell Laptop. I've just bought Office Ultimate 2007. Everytime I open outlook or try to take any action, I get "please wait while windows configures microsoft office ultimate 2007". it takes a good while before it goes away. I'm having a problem with my MS Office suite 2003 on my new PC (Belarc analysis below). Two issues that have been coming up for me are that my email settings in Outlook won't allow me to bring in my email (IMAP/SMTP set up) and the second is that any time I try to change my office assistant it keeps telling me I don't have enough memory (!). What's going on with this? After all, this is a 3 GB machine, things that worked on my 1 GB shouldn't have a problem.
I use a Verizon DSL connection.

I have a new laptop with Vista and I can not get the Vista mail program to open (receive) mail that goes to my Outlook account. As far as I know I never had a sign-in or password for my Outlook account. I do have Windows Live ID and I even tried using that info. Up until about 9/25/08 I could receive and send email and then something happen now I can't send or receive email in outlook.thunderbird or Eudora. I have called my isp and they tell me all my setting are correct. I have called so many time they know my voice now but they still can't get it to work. Outlook stopped receiving email on 30 Apr. I tried to uninstall MS Office as suggested by HP, but get an error: Can't access network location of %APPDATA%. I have an HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop with Windows Vista x64 and MS Office 2007 Outlook. I've spent hours w/ HP and AT&T tech support, but can't resolve the problems (Email & %APPDATA%). HP wants me first to restore my laptop to its originally shipped configuration (I'd prefer not to if I can) and AT&T wants $99 for advanced support.

Outlook Express won't send my email MOST of the time. Occasionally it will send it but most of the time it just goes to my out box and just sits there. Eventually, it goes but sometimes it's hours later or even the next day. I had Norton but got rid of it (with their uninstall tool) and now have AVG. The error messages I get vary but usually say something about not being able to connect with the server or the server unexpectedly terminating the connection.
