Chess Game Background Corrupted
Mar 23, 2008chess titans game is working but the board and the background look corrupted-even if i change appearance -any notes coming on the screen if you make a wrong move they appear corrupted.

Can Not Play Chess Titans
Feb 6, 2009I have been trying to play Chess titans on level 1 for 3 days now with the same result every time. I will play and get the opposing king into check. Makes no difference what color the CPU uses. But instead of moving his king out of check he will capture my piece. I do not have a problem with this. My problem is, when I am in check and I am able to make the move to capture the opposing piece I am not allowed to do so. (no , I am not checkmated) and yes this happens every time. It makes no sense. there is no option to change that I can find. Seems the CPU is playing by a different set of rules.

Feb 2, 2009Does anyone play Chess Titans on Vista? I think it cheats a bit. I got the computer down to its King & a Knight. I had three Queens on the board, just because I didn't get checkmate quickly enough it called the game a draw. I am not bloody Kasparov, why not give me a break?

A hard reset was required. Now today I was playing Chess Titans, and I tried opening up Internet Explorer. Again, the system froze within a few seconds.

Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for ( The game) (suberror 7). Your video card must support hardware acceleration and have at least 15 megabytes of video Ram available. i fyour video card doesnt support compressed textures it must have at least 64 megabytes if video RAM available.
I have tried going into the display settings and advanced settings then troubleshooting but my computer does not allow me to change it as the icon is grayed out.

Aug 2, 2007I can sucessfully load up the game and all however whenever i try to join a multiplayer game(says "Joining Server... then crashes" or finish loading a single player game(after the textures are loaded or the shaders it just crashes) OR whenever i click audio in settings my game(right after i click audio it just goes boom) just crashes back to desktop with the BF2142.exe error. I've read about many different crashes with other people but this seems different, people have had crashes during map changes, splash screen, and a few secs after joining the server, havent seen anyone with my problem of crashing when i see the "joining server.." box.
I've tried
1)reinstalling/repatching
2)run the exe as admin.
3)disable UAC and reinstall/repatch after restart
Im pretty sure my computer can handle the game, my old one did fine and this one owns it. Im kind of lost, I've tried many things and this freaking game just doesnt want to work.
Game Freezes: Game Won't Run Correctly
Jan 5, 2008I installed SS2 on this PC (runs windows vista home premium 32bit), but sadly the game won't run correctly. I've looked around a little bit, and I see that not watching the videos is a common problem. But that's not my main problem <:/ I can run the game just fine for about 30 seconds... suddenly, it just freezes. The last sound is looped, and the mouse is frozen.

Apr 2, 2008After installing SP1, my user account was changed to standard user and many of the programs (including IE7) would not work properly AFTER I changed my user account back to Administrator. The other accounts that were Administrator and a new Administrator account would still not allow IE7 to work properly unless "run as Administrator". When I turn UAC off, the problems go away.

Background To Stop Or End
Mar 23, 2008Has anybody here used the program EndItAll 2 with Vista? I was thinking about installing it to end background tasks & such in order to play my games. Since Vista is such a resource hog, thought this might help with the performance of my game. I don't know which programs or anything that is running in the background to stop or end so thought this program "End It All" might help.

Mar 18, 2009I have a problem with my machine running slower whenever I'm on the Web. Recently I discovered that it was because of one or perhaps 2 programs running in the background even after I close the programs. Last month, after performing a system cleanup with my antivirus and antispyware programs, I noticed that the cleanup process was running unusually slow. At some point, I activated RealPlayer and it wouldn't activate. I double-clicked the icon more than once, and it didn't run.
Out of curiosity, I decided to look at my Task Manager, and in the list of programs running under the 'Processes' tab, I noticed 'realplay.exe'. My RealPlayer program was still running in the background, even though I closed the program, and it was chewing up my resources and slowing down my machine. I stopped the process by hitting the 'End Process' button, and noticed that my machine was back up to normal speed. Once in a blue moon, I get the same problem with Mozilla Firefox, and I have to go into my Task Manager to stop that process to be able to run it again.
So far, RealPlayer and Firefox are the only 2 programs that run in the background even after I close them. How to I fix this problem so that I don't have to keep going into my Task Manager to shut down both programs if they continue to run in the background?

Feb 22, 2009Windows Vista Home Premium I receive a message when attempting to delete any file or any action regading the Recycle Bin that reads: "The Recycle Bin on C: is corrupted. Do you want to empty the Recycle Bin for this drive?" There is a choice for Yes and No. When I choose "Yes" the notice posted that it is "Deleting 1 item (2.28 KB)" and the progress bar indicates activity. When I click on the "More information" button, I find it is indicating: Time remaining: Calculating...Items remaining: Discovered 1 item (2.28 KB)... Speed: Calculating...This morning I started the process and went out for breakfast. On my return an hour and one-half later it was still running. When I open the Recycle Bin, no items show, but the the dreaded messsages appears. I will close only when clicking the "No" button twice.

Jan 23, 2010do not appear on the NG in Windows Live Mail on my computer. It was OK previously. I have unsubscribed the NG and then subscribed again. But still the same problem. But I see the msgs in the Sent Items folder. Tried sending thru:microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail
but still the same thing. I do not see the post in the NG, but it is there in the Sent Items folder. In both above cases, the posts can be seen in Google Groups from whereI have no choice but to post from. MY NGs may be corrupted.

My computer keeps giving me this prompt every few days,"THE MESSAGE STORE HAS BEEN CORRUPTED BY AN APPLICATION EXTERNAL TO WINDOWS MAIL. WINDOWS MAIL HAS BEEN ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY RECOVER FROM THIS CORRUPTION.(0x00000000) Then it proceeds to restore all my deleted emails from the past few day, (at least 100) and starts adding new folders and dates. When they are recovered, they're headers only, no content in them. I had the Confiker Virus about 6 weeks ago and this seemed to start around the same time. This is really a pain having to delete all these messages...

Feb 1, 2008Whenever i download a file such as .msi installer, .exe executable, or .zip archive with IE and run it, it crashes (not IE but the file that was downloaded.) This recently started happening on my Home Premium 64-bit Vista installation, and the problem remains after reinstalling Vista two times from scratch. If the file was downloaded on another PC and saved to a flash drive, it runs fine on Vista. I have tried the sfc /scannow command, as well as disabling any firewall, antivirus, etc. and changing the IE settings. This occurs on a clean installation of Windows Vista also. Aug 27, 2009have vista home basic x32 and have been having recycle bin problems for 2wks now. i have tried things listed here on links i found to fix recycle bin, dont work. i was told it could be my mcafee virus protection because its known to cause problems. i had some trojans and virus, but have since then gotten rid of it all completely, and at that time thats when the bin started acting up wont empty, shows its full on desktop and pic of it IN the bin folder shows its full/empty click to empty and hear the sound but nothing happens. i send stuff to the bin then i open the bin and nothing SHOWS that its there. yet if i click empty recycle bin box comes up and says are you sure you want to perm delete etc etc, so that shows there are files in there but nothing shows in the folder like i said its all a mess and there has to be a way to fix it cant i completely delete it and all that goes with it and start over with creating a new one?

Feb 7, 2009I have an Dell XPS 420 which is overclocked (Q6700, 3,33 GHz) and lately vista has crashed all the times and I think it might be because of a corrupted file in windows. I tried to do a sfc /scannow however when it tries to repair the error, it gave me this message:

Desktop Background Keeps Going Black
Dec 7, 2009I have Vista Home Premium SP1. I have set my Desktop Background to be one of my favorite pictures. But every half hour or so, without any warning, the Desktop Background resets itself to black, and I have to go back into Control Panel to

Can Not Play Sent Background Music
Mar 5, 2009In fact I did ask this question before and I received an answer from one of the MVPs, but I lost the copy. This is what I did : Create Mail > Format > Background > Sound > browse to locate my choice of music, Click Open > OK ( I chose MP3 instead of .wav or midi, because they take too long to upload and send ). This is my problem : I sent that to myself for testing. Music came on as soon as I opened the e-mail. But, when I sent it to someone else, the recipient was unable to hear anything. The answer I received before was about recipient having have to change a setting, but I don't remember what.
