What happened to the viewed files history? It used to be (in XP) that if you opened, say, My Computer, and pressed ctrl+h, you would see all the files you had looked at using windows explorer. Now, the internet explorer history works perfectly fine, but for the life of me I cannot find this file history on vista.

I recently ordered 500 Vista desktops and 150 Vista laptops from a vendor preloaded with a RTM edition of Vista Business. When we started loading Office 2007 this week, the Windows Installer stopped four times with errors. Vista gave a message saying we should upgrade to the retail version of Vista (I wish I could send a screenshot). After checking the build level we saw it was build 6000. My team checked some MSDN blogs and saw build 6000 is not viewed as a genuine Vista build. What do I do?! If this is the case, I'm not going to be able to meet my SLA with my Enterprise users.

Also how do I stop pages from auto loading. When I leave my pc on, when I get back to it I noticed other sites have automactically loaded. These ere sites my grandson went out to. I really don't have a need to go out to ninja turtle sites. I have tried everything I know to correct the above two issues but can't.

The whole codec thing is over my head and more trouble than I want to deal with. Is it a Vista thing? Are wav files no longer compatible? The old recorder program used to record and play them. While running the Disk Cleanup utility, listed under "files to delete:" was an unchecked box "Files discarded by Windows upgrade 1.34GB". The description box below states: "Files from a previous Windows installation. As a precaution, Windows upgrade keeps a copy of any files that were not moved to the new version of Windows and were not identified as Windows system files. If you are sure that no user's personal files are missing after the upgrade, you can delete these files." My question: How do I find these files so I can decide if I wish to delete or not?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy laptop motherboard fried, so I removed the hard drive and purchased a caddy. When I plug the hard drive in to my new desktop PC I am able to see that only 4GB of the 100 GB capacity is available (as should be the case). However, I cannot see any of my files on there (folders I had created on the desktop etc.).
The only folders I can see are PerfLogs, Program Files, SwSetup, Users, Windows and two of my personal folders (both containing some photos). I really need to find the rest of my files as I have 12GBs of photos and videos of my baby boy on there, and would be gutted if I cannot access them again (for obvious reasons). Nothing else is important.
when i use media center on vista prem and open folders with music and video the center says that the folders are empty, but these folders are not empty and the files can be played with media player 11....anyone know what's up with this????????

Just gone to view the pics again and says the following: The drive or network connection that the shortcut (then the image number) - Shortcut.Ink refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the disc is properly inserted or the network resource is available and then try again. I have no idea what this means but deleted the pictures of the camera as I viewed them and they were fine.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI need to recover deleted IE history and have scoured all different sources for recovery and im starting to doubt whether or not it is possible.
What I know wont work:
System Restore- The history was deleted between restore points, and the restore points on either side of it being deleted dont have the relevant history
What I've tried:
Index.dat readers. This is what I'm confused about, everywhere I go say this file holds all IE history unless its been altered, but from everything I've actually tried it seems all the index files I can find just hold information I can pretty readily access already.
So I'm willing to try any suggestions, and also if anyone has a little more info on index.dat that would change what I've found out myself.
everytime i delete my internet histroy I notice that like 5 or so sites stay under history in the address bar. can anyone tell me how to permanetly get rid og them? Ive tried deleting auotcomplete but that doesnt work either.

I'm looking for a way to clear that list, but first I need to know what it's called.
So far I know it's not considered a "Form" because Clear Form Data doesn't remove it. It's also not "Inline AutoComplete" because I've got that turned off. It's also not "Search from the Address Bar" because I've turned that off as well.
