Just wanted you to know that I have installed LG 6X Super-Multi Blu Ray burner model # GGW-H20L, using Vista X64 Ultimate, and Power DVD Ultra 8. This runs so amazing that I am completely replacing my DVD collection with Blu Ray. The quality and sound is impeccable, and blows ordinary DVD's in the water. I have attached a few screen shots from the movie Jumper for your viewing.

I don't know if the cause is the update from Acrobat from ver. 8 Professional to 8.1.2 but now notebok start-up takes 10 or more minutes and then my user start-up takes other 10-20 minutes! In other words, it's extremely slow from when I turn it on to when I turn if off, you can't use it anymore!

View 7 Replies View RelatedVista can't read manifactured DvD's and will not see Blank disks. I read through the MS kb article and it doesn't apply because in the registry UpperFilters and Lowerfilters are not listed. Tried using Nero but it is not compatable with Vista. (humph, imagine that) In Device mgr Dvd is listed as TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S202J ATA Device Driver is from 6/21/2006. Tried to update driver but will not says it is most up to date driver available. Uninstalled drive and reinstall did nothing to resolve problem.
The DVD drive is brand new and so is the PC and windows Vista Ultimate 64. Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E7300 @2.66 Ghz, 4 gigs ram. Most of the time it can't even read any disk put in, no auto play nothing, Turned atuo play and turned it off no real difference. Often times in Windows Explorer after a few tries it may see files on the disk then I can use the setup if it's there and it will install program. Sometimes it will read home burned disk and it other times it fails to see the exact same disk. Often times it sees a manufactured disk as a blank disk and ask if I wanted to burn something.
I've read a lot about problems installing Nero 8 in Windows Vista. I've recently purchased this software and would like to be certain that it will install with no problems. Some people say to disable User Account Control before installing it, as well as disabling the firewall and Windows Defender. Can anyone tell me what should be done before running the installation of Nero?

View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone else notice this in regards to BD movies? On saturday I "upgraded" my working 2217 build to build 2705/2815 then there is no audio, and the video freezes at movie startup. I then reinstalled/restored build 2217, and still had a different issue: a message to update, or there would be no Blu-ray playback. The "update" opens up a IE window to download Build 2705. Of course the issue here was If I updated, then I had no audio and the video froze/crashed the player. I figured out how to fix the issue, but I dont know what caused it. Its as if the Player will longer connect and update/authenticate the playback keys, Unless using a newer build, and those newer builds are non-functional/glitchy. I fixed the issue, and now Build 2217 plays all again, but had I not backed up the Cyberlink/Powerdvd folders I would be stuck with a non-functional player.
I suspect the older build upgrade/or no playback message is by design. They want to force updates on those using player builds that can read BD files off the drive, and that use AnyDVD to break the encryption. I tried two Movies; BD Spiderwick and BD Hellboy II. Anybody else try to update their build and have a "no play/no sound issue with newer BD movies? Anyone using PowerDVD Ultra for BD playback, try installing the newer builds and then try to play a June 2008 or newer release BD movie. (just to be safe though, back up the Cyberlink folder, and Powerdvd programs folder for restoration if need be)

I had problems w/ the software, so now the two computers are back to a wired con. I have tried and tried to connect the computers so I can access my hub pc from the other two.

Is there a way to tune down Vista's hunger for RAM and GPU power? I could play Counter Strike: Source better on my laptop which had a single core AMD Turion 1.8ghz cpu, 1gig ram and X1600 gpu than my brand-spanking new Asus laptop which has a 2.4ghz core 2 duo, 2gig of ram and ATI HD 3470. This is just plain ridiculous that a newer laptop and newer software give me WORSE performance for a relatively old game. And it just isn't CS:S that's a problem either. View 4 Replies View RelatedHi! I've just gotten a new Vista machine after having XP Pro for a few years. So far, I've had no difficulties and am qvery pleased with perfomance etc., with one exception.
In XP, the moment I pulled the plug on my laptop, it would switch power plans to my "battery" one (i.e. darken the screen, change how it shuts down and so forth.)
In Vista, when I pull the plug, other than the screen going darker, nothing happens. I'm told that I'm still in "High Perfomance" mode, which could affect battery life.
So how do I tell my computer that when I switch to battery, it's to change plans to Power Saver automatically?
When ever i leave my computer idled for a long time the monitors turn black and i can't do anything but shut it down and start it up again. When i shut it down it says "Out of range input 1" Then i turn it off again and this time it has an error saying Vista didn't start up correctly, then i hit "start windows normally" then i can do stuff. How do i wake it up without shutting it down.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have never been able to achieve a normal power off using the power switch, but had to use the options provided by Vista Home Premium. I am still having problems with dekstop freezing, and with frustration I pressed the power switch rapidly several times and to my surprise it shut itself down - legally. Nothing like the action you get by holding in the power switch for about 5 seconds.
Is my power switch now operating normally after being faulty for almost 2 years, or is it now faulty, providing a shutdown which should not be available?
Not sure if this is the correct place to post, but I can not get PP viewer to work. New computer running Vista, I downloaded the viewer and when I click on a link it comes up with the message to make sure it is linked to the correct program. I have gone into default assoc and PPS is connected to Power Point Viewer. It worked on XP Pro computer, what do I need to do? Have restarted after downloading thinking maybe that would work.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI put my computer put it into what I think is standby mode, the one that "puts your computer in a low power state so you can quickly resume working" (I remember the text, but not the specific name lol). The monitor turned off and I left the room before hearing the computer shut off. I returned to my computer some 12 hours later and it was still on with the HD access light solid red, and with the monitor off and the power button blinking, waiting for a signal. I said to myself, boy thats weird. I held the power button in and shut it down. I pushed to power button to reboot and nothing happened. It didn't turn on.
I pulled the power cord from the back of the power supply and drained any remaining juice from my rig, then plugged it back in, pushed the power button, and voila, on it came. It then booted up like it would if it were fully in standby / sleep / hibernate mode and the power went out starting up with 'resuming windows' and then going insanely slow as it tries to return all programs to the state they were in when the power failed.
My sisters PCz keeps going to sleep. I changed power options to never but each time she restarts the PC the settings go back to previous settings. i have looked around here for answers but nothing applies to her pc. all was fine before SP1 but i dont think that is the problem.
