Geforce 8800 GT: Screen Going Black
Nov 19, 2008My graphics keeps shutting down the pc dosent freeze or crash the screen just keeps going black. This happens about 5mins in. I've got the new updated driver for it i've also sent back the card and got a replacement still have the same problem.

I recently upgraded my graphics card from NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS to NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT XXX, and now when I try to watch live TV or record TV or watch shows recorded before the upgrade I get this error: "Video error; Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly. Please restart Windows Media Center or restart the computer." I have installed newest drivers for graphics card and tv tuners. Don't know what else to try.

Feb 3, 2008I run a single BFG 8800 GTS 640mb OC2 in my PC at the minute due to using an EVGA 650i Ultra board - which has a single PCI slot - but have just bought a Asus 680i SLI board, so i'm wondering if it may be time to upgrade from my single card to dual cards?
The 8800 GTS i have is fantastic and i don't really see any problems with it: apart from Crysis and the snow levels that is, but i think everyone has problems with that anyway. I know the 8800 GT cards are the next GPU die (G92) and are cheap enough to justify SLI, but will i see a massive increase over what i'm playing with at the minute? I only usually play at 1280x1024 anyway due to burning out my Gainward Golden Sample 7800 GTX whilst running HL2 at 1600x1200 and so it's better to be safe than sorry (and out of pocket £300!). Also, i'm wondering about power consumption with 2 cards and also the extra heat due to the single slot designs.
X64 Does Not Recognize EVGA 8800 Gtx
Feb 27, 2009Would anybody know why Vista X64 SP1 does not recognize my EVGA 8800 GTX graphics card, I just got my EVGA X58 MB along with an Intel core i7 920 CPU and six gigs of corsair ddr3 dominator ram, I've installed Vista X64 SP1 and everything gets recognized except for the 8800 gtx graphics card. I've tried installing the 64 bit 182.06 nvidia drivers but without vista X64 recognizing the cards in the first place it's pointless, i just keep crashing when i reboot until I go into safe mode and remove the drivers.

Jan 2, 2008i installed my 8800 gts with the cd that came with it...rebooted, but all the monitor shows is a black screen (yes the monitor plug thingy is connected to the new gfx card). since the black screen came up, i switched the input back to the integrated gfx card. how do i disable the onboard (integrated) gfx card so that my comp will detect the 8800gts on startup cuz right now it detects nvidia geforce 6150 se (on board gfx card) even if i uninstall it.

This runs so amazing that I am completely replacing my DVD collection with Blu Ray. The quality and sound is impeccable, and blows ordinary DVD's in the water. Nov 10, 2008Vista can't read manifactured DvD's and will not see Blank disks. I read through the MS kb article and it doesn't apply because in the registry UpperFilters and Lowerfilters are not listed. Tried using Nero but it is not compatable with Vista. (humph, imagine that) In Device mgr Dvd is listed as TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S202J ATA Device Driver is from 6/21/2006. Tried to update driver but will not says it is most up to date driver available. Uninstalled drive and reinstall did nothing to resolve problem.
The DVD drive is brand new and so is the PC and windows Vista Ultimate 64. Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E7300 @2.66 Ghz, 4 gigs ram. Most of the time it can't even read any disk put in, no auto play nothing, Turned atuo play and turned it off no real difference. Often times in Windows Explorer after a few tries it may see files on the disk then I can use the setup if it's there and it will install program. Sometimes it will read home burned disk and it other times it fails to see the exact same disk. Often times it sees a manufactured disk as a blank disk and ask if I wanted to burn something.

Aug 17, 2008Nvidia losing money over defective GPUs. by Justin Mann on August 13, 2008, 12:00 PM Nvidia’s recent struggles with GPU manufacturing are definitely taking its toll on the company. As a result of manufacturing defects and the inevitable fallout from it, it seems that Nvidia has gone from enjoying a few beautiful years on top to actually losing money recently. In particular, Nvidia saw a decrease in revenue for the second quarter of this year, resulting in a financial loss for the company.
In total, they lost over $120 million, and recent cuts in sales haven’t helped them out either. They outright admitted that they underestimated AMD, but nobody can really blame them for that. Yesterday, it was speculated that there were manufacturing defects in the G92 and G94 chipsets, on top of the already known bad parts in the G84 and G86 series. Nvidia may have tried to avoid blame here and there, but ultimately it is coming down on them and they have been stuck with warranty replacements galore. Even if the newer chipsets are fine, it doesn't do anything to remedy the mass amounts of defective ones already sold..........
Powerdvd Ultra No Audio/playback Freeze On Startup
May 17, 2009Anyone else notice this in regards to BD movies? On saturday I "upgraded" my working 2217 build to build 2705/2815 then there is no audio, and the video freezes at movie startup. I then reinstalled/restored build 2217, and still had a different issue: a message to update, or there would be no Blu-ray playback. The "update" opens up a IE window to download Build 2705. Of course the issue here was If I updated, then I had no audio and the video froze/crashed the player. I figured out how to fix the issue, but I dont know what caused it. Its as if the Player will longer connect and update/authenticate the playback keys, Unless using a newer build, and those newer builds are non-functional/glitchy. I fixed the issue, and now Build 2217 plays all again, but had I not backed up the Cyberlink/Powerdvd folders I would be stuck with a non-functional player.
I suspect the older build upgrade/or no playback message is by design. They want to force updates on those using player builds that can read BD files off the drive, and that use AnyDVD to break the encryption. I tried two Movies; BD Spiderwick and BD Hellboy II. Anybody else try to update their build and have a "no play/no sound issue with newer BD movies? Anyone using PowerDVD Ultra for BD playback, try installing the newer builds and then try to play a June 2008 or newer release BD movie. (just to be safe though, back up the Cyberlink folder, and Powerdvd programs folder for restoration if need be)

Mar 26, 2008I purchased a digital update of Windows Vista Premium upgrade and the download won't load. I am useing a trial version of Windows XP 64-bit. I first used the digital locker a few times and it would stop at 99 percent and give a validation error. I figured it the locker was having a problem so i manual downloaded the three files through my internet browser. They downloaded fine without problems, but when I tried to run the Vista setup I ran into another error: 0x8007000D Windows was unable to create a required installation folder.

I originally did what I normally do when installing any graphics card; I uninstalled the on-board graphics card drivers and disabled it, then attempted to install the drivers for the new card. While running the installation, an error appeared telling me that it didn't detect any Nvidia compatible hardware in my setup. So I checked my device manager and sure enough, there was only the onboard card showing up in the list. So I tried restarting the computer to see if a reboot would cause it to appear. Nothing happened, so I ran CCleaner and Driver Sweeper to clear any registry and drivers issues that could be occuring. I rebooted, and still nothing appeared. So I went into the BIOS and tried to change some settings in there. I disabled the on-board through the options there, but that only caused the BIOS to give me issues and I couldn't even reach the splash screen, so I reset it and then tried changing the load settings from IGFX-GFXO-GPP-PCI to GFXO-GPP-IGFX-PCI, saved and then rebooted. I got past the splash screen on the new video card but the computer locked up before it would load the OS. So I know that both the card and the PCI-E slot on the MoBo are working fine. But I have run out of ideas as to what to try next to get this to work.

My GeForce 7900GS Will Not Work With ,
May 23, 2008I bought a new hard drive and did a clean install of windows vista on it.
The installation went fine and everything is running fine, except I have to unplug my graphics card and use the standard VGA built in standard thing which obviously is no good.
I've downloaded several drivers. When I try install them it gives an error relating to not having the correct hardware avaialble for the driver or something like that.
On my old XP setup I had a small X icon in the system tray which was the xpertvision menu/program - which allowed me to change stuff like the fan speed, resolution etc.
This isn't installed obviously, and seen as when I bought this graphics card last year the only drivers on the disk were for XP/2000.
I can only run vista using the graphics card when I start windows in safe mode - when I run it in normal mode I just get a blank black screen after the loading screen.

Nvidia Geforce Gt Can't Working
Sep 2, 2008I am playing alot of games.. I play for example Counter Strike Source. I have 2 gb RAM - Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 cPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.40GHz 64 bit Vista. With Nvidia Geforce 7950 GT. When I for example play source.. and exit it.. It comes like ALot of colors and things.. and cant do anything.. Have to restart the computer to get back.. Same with FIFA 08.. When I start Fifa 08 happens the same thing.. It comes Red/Black/White.. and cant get out or something.. have to restart.. so annoying.. Can only play like Source.. and then after I have to restart to get back to desktop.I cant do ''Alt option''.

The drivers work fine in XP 32, but when trying different drivers on Vista x64 company of heroes is unpleasant to play.

Dec 30, 2008Vista 64 ultimate with dual NVidia 8400 GS, on 4 monitors, running non-SLI mode crashed when ever opening a PDF file.
Although the check from newer drivers indicated that the system already had the latest, I installed the latest drivers from NVidia website anyway. The driver installation package ran through without error, and requested a reboot. Curiously, Vista complained that the installation may not have been completed correctly. Ignoring the Vista warning message (what was I to do anyway?), I rebooted. After reboot I was able to open PDF file.
When I originally configured the system, I had attempted to operate my video in SLI mode. I could not get SLI to work with two cards/4 monitors. Ultimately, I configured in non-SLI mode. I now wonder, if trying out different configurations placed the video cards in an unstable configuration - which was cleared up when I reinstalled the drivers.
